I have many ideas!!! - use your least favourite hook handheld (knife or pen) - every round is a new hooksize - use button-eyes - free pattern but only use other stiches - crochet something useful for crocheting - do a granny square - only use double stiches - pattern in rounds but beginning with the last round and ending with the first - try filet crocheting Have fun!
Square ideas: Use a Tunisian/Afghan crochet hook Monochrome a colorwork pattern OR Colorwork a single-color pattern Inverted colors (Could use either a filter or just take the normal colors and use the opposite color on the colorwheel) Frankenstein Amigurumi (take miscellaneous spare parts and put them together to make a finished piece) Use your favorite hook/yarn Use your LEAST favorite hook/yarn This was super fun! I might have to try doing this, just for funsies! 😁 Definitely would help me have motivation to finish WIPS that are in time out.
So many great suggestions, thanks so much! Would highly recommend trying it for fun. Though depending on what squares you use, you could end up with even more WIPS in time out lol.
The Brooklyn flanny you're wearing!!! 🥹 I got one years ago and wore it like my life depended on it. Oneday, I woke up and it was nowhere to be found. TO THIS DAY that flanny is a long lost love of mine. It's renowned among my friends and family, I talk about it all the time. Comfiest and most flattering flanny ever. Low and behold one of the coolest crocheters now wearing it as I watch in awe. I'm now not only jealous of your yarn wielding, but also, your flannelette shirt 🥹❤️
Oh, no!!! I'm sorry to hear you lost yours. I thrifted my one and, no joke, it is one of my greatest finds. You're right about it being the comfiest flanny ever. I hope you come across yours again one day and if not, maybe hit up some thrift shops, you might get lucky! :)
@SkeinSpider I hope so! I've moved 2 states and it's been like 5 years since I last saw it so I doubt it'll turn up now 🥲❤️ but I'll definitely keep an eye out while thrifting!!! Might have to make an eeveelutions cardigan to fill the void 🤣
You should do a "Design a Fruit" square! I would love to see that! And maybe a "Crochet with one color", which would be designing or using a pattern but only crocheting with one color. Edit: A "Crochet a Cartoon Character" Square would be a lot of fun as well!
Just came back to watch this for the fourth time lol - needed cheering up (having a major flare-up, dammit) and this video makes me cry with laughter! So much fun. Definitely needs a sequel when you feel you can risk your sanity again! 🙃🤣🤣
That was fun! Definitely do this again. Oh how about we have a monthly bingo game where you design the squares, with input, and we can see what everyone made, you could perhaps throw some bonus free squares in somehow. Talked myself into looking forward to this lol. Square suggestion. Make something in the thickest yarn you own. I don't actually own anything bigger than a UK chunky, at least I don't think I do!! Cheers xxJane
I may have something in the works already ;). The idea of a community bingo game is something I've toyed with! I'll have to have a good think about the best way to structure it and then maybe we can give it a go. Also, thanks for the square suggestion!
😮 I'm surprised by how much I like the scrap-topus. Maybe with something smaller like a 15 mm hook instead of 20 it would actually be a fun stash buster project❤ I just think it would be really fun to tie a bunch of scrap yarn together and then use them as one strand to create a multicolor effect. 🤍💜💙🧡❤️💚🖤💓💛 🐙
Square ideas: - crochet something you would never usually make - learn a new technique - crochet in reverse (could either be something like making a pattern from the last step to the first step or maybe switching things like for example replacing every dc in a pattern with an sc and vice versa)
To help your brain with making the yarn into chunky yarn: remind yourself that you’re essentially making extremely long chain stitches to layer the 3 strands together.
Lol, I didn't realise I sighed so much until I started editing! I was worried it would come across like I wasn't actually enjoying myself, which was very much not the case XD.
I initially had that, but I thought I'd rather have a specific challenge than need to come up with something on the fly. Might change that next time because I don't think it worked out in my favour in this instance.
.....I think that's my sign I've been playing kiddie bingo with my nephews and niece's too much. I totally forgot 'free space' isn't always "choose your own adventure" 😆😂. Could've saved myself some time lol.
I would do a larger project, but break it up over 4 or 5 squares. So each square would be, "Complete 1/5 of larger project", and you don't have to hit all of them to get bingo, but it'd be fun to see if you can actually complete the larger item by the end of the game.
This looks like so much fun! I am a new subscriber to your channel and it's so fun watching watching you incorporate crochet in new, fun ways! An idea I had if you do this challenge again and get the "For the Hands" theme again was a crocheted ring, instead of a bracelet! I think it would work up faster, and just be really cute! Could even put a baby spider on top as your ring "gem" or something lol!
First, hi and welcome! I love coming up with (or trying to at least lol) weird and creative ways to use crochet, so it genuinely makes me happy to hear you enjoy it. And thanks for the suggestions. The baby spider idea is perfect!
I just watched your one pattern six different ways, I can’t crochet left-handed to save my life, but it reminded me of something I saw, you crochet normal and instead of chain one and turn you crochet left handed back the other way, I would love to see what a piece would look like
You should do this as a collaboration with someone. Maybe make the competition unlike traditional bingo where you both roll a number at the same time and can only move to the next number when you finish the first. Whoever calls bingo first wins, but it's also a challenge of crocheting quickly. I don't know if that makes sense but yeaa
Square ideas- -Use something that is not a crochet hook (i.e. finger crochet, a stick, etc 😂) -Add a new feature to a wip (the more random the better, think of ComplicatedKnots' roulette franken-patterns in the videos "Cutting up my Patterns" or something) - make a pattern twice as large (or twice as small if you dare) - finally, follow a mystery pattern
That looked great!!! Make two different granny squares. Also, I find the "make regular into chunky" hack very useful as most of my yarn is DK, so if I want something thicker/ larger it's a great trick!!!
Crochet granny square, alot of crochet animal cards for Bingo, crochet something with lace design. Those are my top 3 favorites things I like to make so I want to see if you do those.
I would have two or three bingo spinners going. One saying what to make, another for type or color of yarn, and third for stitch style. This could be great for those of us that can't make up our damn minds!
That one's already on the card but thank you for the suggestion anyway. I've actually done it before too, in a previous challenge, and you're totally right - it's very frustrating!
Square idea -create a rare animal -crochet an endangered animal -create an insect -crochet a bucket hat -crochet a granny square -crochet a unique stitch -use chunky yarn -crochet with something other than a hook -crochet with food -crochet a useable crochet hook
So many great suggestions, thank you! But I've gotta clarify, for the second last one do you literally mean crochet WITH food? I'm down to try, figuring out how will be.....fun 😂😂
You're not wrong. I originally had some bigger projects on the bingo card. So relieved I took them off lol. I can for sure share the octopus pattern. It might be a while because I have things lined up for the next few weeks, but I can add it to the schedule.
You could add a rule of don't chrochet an octopus. For a prompt it could be a color, lace, redesign an old pattern, an animal, head (hat headband), feet( socks slippers)
Center pulls are too loose when straight from the store. You have to put it on a ball winder yourself to get it tight enough to be a decent center pull for a while. Of course by the very end of the skein it's still going to fall apart on you.
Hello, I watched your struggle, felt bad for you actually.... Can i suggest designing a new, different spider? Seeing your yt name it could be a nice thing?
Watching largest and smallest turn up one after the other... there's some sort of irony there, i'm sure of it Edit: low-key feeling bad for laughing lol. so many octopus...
Laugh away, I did! (Mostly lol). But yeah, I legit couldn't believe they turned up one after the other XD. ...next time I think I'll go with a different pattern or two.
ComplicatedKnots (a friend of Skein Spider here on youtube) has a great playlist on how to design your own patterns! As well as doubling the size of an existing pattern!
For the “octopus” you made with the largest crochet hook challenge you should keep it as a stress ball
Good idea. I'll need it for when I try this challenge again 😂
I have many ideas!!!
- use your least favourite hook handheld (knife or pen)
- every round is a new hooksize
- use button-eyes
- free pattern but only use other stiches
- crochet something useful for crocheting
- do a granny square

Have fun!
That was so fun!
✨Design an applique
✨Design a cocktail
✨Crochet wrong hook size
✨Make something ugly 😅
I might have to do another two bingo cards with all these quality suggestions I've been given :). Thank you!!
@@SkeinSpider I reckon! There's been a few good ones! Can't wait 🫶 you're a joy to watch 🩵 esp being a fellow Aussie 😅🫶🫶

I really like your talking heavy non-tutorial videos. I like listening to them while working on a project
Cheers! I'm trying to include more of them in my video schedule to break up the patterns a bit, so I'm glad they're appreciated 😊
So cool you should do this with the eevee evolutions and design the ones you landed on 😊❤
Love that!! There aren't enough eeveelutions to fill out a whole bingo card (unfortunately), but maybe I could include other Pokemon as well????
@@SkeinSpider or design the “missing” eeveelutions or megas for the ones we have
@@SkeinSpider yes!!! that would be amazing

Now I want to do this but with just WIPs & to do list projects in each square. Such a fun motivator!
Square idea: each row is a different kind of yarn. Either brand or fiber.
Nice!
I high key want to play this as well this is so fun
Would highly recommend. It was so much fun, even though I buggered it up lol.

What a fun challenge! Your sighs made it very entertaining😂 it's cool to see how you challenged yourself
P.s. in regular bingo the middle square is usually free. Might be a good idea for next time.

In regular bingo the center Square is free. Loved this.
This was fun to watch! It also had cute projects 🐙🍄🪼

Crochet bingo would be so fun. For a square what about a dessert or candy square?
It was....apart from that one little Oops Moment. Thanks for the square suggestions!

Tunisian crochet as an option? Could do a square in cotton for kitchen use or face scrubbie
Or for bathroom option (soap saver?)
Love those! Nice, practical spaces instead of making a million octopus.
Big yarn, small hook. Or vice versa.

The last time I played Bingo, I won a $200 jackpot at a casino. We played blacklight Bingo. 😁💖
Sadly all I won was a bunch of amigurumi and some left over scrap yarn lol.
How about a square for a reversible pattern
And a square for a useful item like a dish cloth or similar.
use a yarn weight you don’t usually use
Frankinpattern!! Combine your two favorite patterns to make one 😊
this looks so fun... would take me a month to get bingo though, lol.

I really need to implement the octopus rule next time lol. And thanks for the suggestions.
- learn a new stitch
- use a vintage pattern
- design earrings
- use the colour you like least
- use your finest weight yarn
This would be great to set up with WIP projects, to make you/us finish them.
For the 7 spin that kinda is micro crocheting 😊
Use fuzzy or hairy yarn
Yes!!
Can we get a tutorial on the octopus? It looks so cool
Square idea: combine 2 free patterns into 1 project
Oooo, that could be so much fun...or a disaster lol. I've got to try it.
I think that you should do, as a square, double, or halve, a pattern.
That's an interesting one! Thanks :)
try a bingo squares (or a whole card) of stitches you've never tried...although you are probably experienced enough to know all of the stitches
Very interesting idea because I definitely don't know all the stitches and there are a few I've been meaning to try for a while.

Where can I find a wheel like that?
The website's called wheelofnames.com.
It would have been hilarious if you gave the largest hook octopus the smallest hook legs.
Omg, it would have!! Maybe I can make that a bingo square, somehow combing my biggest hook and smallest hook.
