Bottom line, what Dave said there, we DO need more of. Love is something intrinsic to us, but hate is something that we teach each other.
@@jamesdamron1211 Excellent. Needed a response like this to know whether you have basic logic. Now follow me here. If a shooter is way outside the line and it seems like you're saying you draw the line at civil disagreements among family, friends and I'll even give you strangers then tell me what happens in this hypothetical: Trump's response to the synagogue massacre is that Jews need to stop interfering at the border and the shooter was justifiably upset about the destruction of his country. At what point does your 'civil disagreement' with your family become actually dangerous for your own survival or the survival of people you may care about very much? If you say well that obviously didn't happen and it would be absurd I will tend to agree. But my point was only to show that this rather benign idea of civil disagreement does have a line where it breaks down. Simply because things don't appear as dramatic in the short run doesn't mean it does not portend impending catastrophe in the near future. How do we distinguish what falls into that category? That's when being informed and knowing basic history become very vital.
@@pairadeau Terrible example. The synagogue shooter didn't disagree with the people he shot. He hated them for what they were. There was nothing political about it. Jon is why I used to be a democrat. Now I don't affiliate. Shit has gotten ridiculous and the party system is outdated. Jon would have been an awesome POTUS.
Jon's always leaned too far left for me, especially when he stopped telling jokes and just went in on people he didn't like only to hide behind the comedian label. Dave, on the other hand, I've always loved every bit of. He's dead center and shrewd as heck.
Jon Stewart has never given himself enough credit. Love seeing two of some of my most favorite people in this world together, wish I could've seen them on tour.
The current politicians in Washington DC right now at this very moment are doing it again! Jon’s having to go to bat for our service members who were managing our once classified, toxic “burn pits!”
It really depends on the level of disagreement. A republican moderate and a democrat moderate...sure. A progressive and a Trump supporter (or whatever you want to call people on the far right)...no probably not. They just have radically different beliefs and values. For example, so people on the left see Trump as a pretty extreme racist. He doesn't really blur the lines about that and he's pretty open about it. Now I'm not saying he's in the KKK, but I'm not saying he isn't. That's honestly how a lot of people see him because of the comments he makes. So it comes down to a choice. Could you be friends with someone in the KKK or someone that supported someone in the KKK? I mean a lot of issues could be broken down like this. I also understand that my view is from a left-leaning perspective. However, you could flip this and likely do it from a right leaning perspective. For example, the migrants marching toward the southern border seeking asylum. From the news clips I've seen and the way the Trump supporters are reacting the are scared. They think these people are going to come into the country and murder them while they sleep at night I guess. I can imagine that if someone believes that they might not feel they have common ground with a person on the left. I personally view them as people that feel so worried about their lives that they are walking a great distance under great hardship just hoping for a reprieve. So you see...those are two different realities. How can someone from each camp hold such radically different views and have a friendship? It is no longer just disagreeing about policies. It's about values, morals, and frankly...fear on both sides. The Dems fear that democracy is failing and the right believes...well I don't care to say.
@@terri639 Just to put it out there, it is not true at all to say trump supporters are far right. I know many trump supporters and I am one, and I can tell you myself and everyone else I know is no where close to far right. I also get along with people on the left very well, some of my close friends are on the left and we have no problem. But I guess some people have to try and make everyone on other sides an enemy and cannot fathom people on other sides getting along with each other and being civil to one another. Also please explain to me about how trump is a racist and open about it? Because he puts America first? I don't see that as being racist, I want my president to put me and my country before illegals and other countries problems. Is it because black and minority unemployment is at an all time low? Don't see that being it either. So please explain for me, maybe I will see something I have missed. Also not afraid people marching in the caravan are going to come and murder me, although some in the mass amount of people marching this way, odds point to there being at least some criminals involved in it that will commit crimes if they get into the country. I mean there are reports of peoples kids getting kidnapped while marching and women being assaulted, so there is that. And if they want asylum they can go to a designated area on the border turn themselves in claim asylum they will be processed and released until they have a hearing date if they qualify. But the way they were forcing their way into other countries I don't see it going that way. But as the Director of Homeland Security said in an interview, that they are not so much worried about the people that will turn themselves in, but the ones that will run and try to escape if they do get a crossed the border. Those are most likely the criminals that do not have a valid claim for asylum.
Yeah that applies to me for every election in the past except for trump. I was okay with Bush, I was okay with Clinton, I was okay with Bush 2 and literally did a back flip for Obama. These were all good men. They all made terrible decisions and great decisions. I argued with the people I love when they backed some of those presidents. To the point of nausea, really. But Trump. He’s not like them. He wasn’t an acceptable risk. He was a colossal mistake and this was clear to rational thinking people 20 years ago. So unfortunately there are people close to me that I have lost volumes of respect for and many of which I consciously decided not to raise my kids around. So while I can definitely be friends and have loving relationships with people I disagree with, backing trump and continuing to do so is a disqualifier for me. I cannot allow people to support racism, white nationalism, violence and so on. Past presidents treated all people with at least some level of respect. Women, lgbt people and so on... My wife is a woman, my sister in law is a lesbian, 4 of my best friends, one of which happens to also be black, are lesbians, one of my LONG time friends is trans and didn’t figure it out til they were in their 20s and my best friends mom was born in Mexico and he himself is half Mexican. How can I possibly treat anyone that looks down upon the people I love with any respect whatsoever? I cannot. If those trump supporters looked upon us with respect, maybe that feeling would change. That however, has not been the case and the result is I lost friends and family over the monster in the White House.
@@code23hyper44 Sadly, people keep forgetting the reason Trump won. He was up against an equally trash candidate. Hillary was the democrat version of Trump. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. There are, however, certain lines that can't be crossed and I wont allow someone in my life anymore, if they cross that line. People in my family were upset when i brought home a black boyfriend. My aunt told me straight to my face that she hopes this is just a phase, because she didn't want to see little 'nappy headed babies' running around. My aunt said that to me, in front of my boyfriend. How am i supposed to love or respect that? It's simply unacceptable, and I refuse to partake or be around such behaviour.
We don't get to choose our family. We can only hope that they do their best to respect us and when they don't, you can disagree with them and turn them away. At the end of the day, we look back at our parents and extended family and show them we can do better than them and teach these good morals to our own children. Would you truly cut all ties with them, in most people's cases.... long term, never. There is too much invested and now-a-days amongst the middle class there are parents abandoning their children once they finish college. The way parents and kids, right now, are currently treating each other is near insane. Your family did you wrong. What happens when a child (grown up of course) does wrong to their family in a similar fashion? These are part of the division of family that people don't take into account. I have seen children point at their broke ass parents living in a trashy trailer claiming that they have "White Privilege" and they have money stashed somewhere to help them co-pay on their kid's student loans that the kid defaulted on, when the parents have sold their house in order to pay for their own kid's college degree in the vast majority, hence why they now live in a trailer with their credit ruined. I'm not that old of a man either, but I see this every day, happening to people of all races and creeds across the country. I have seen parents turn their backs on children left and right, but no one bothers to ask why. Families are tearing themselves apart over pseudo-politics and identity politics that are fabrications of society that have pit people against each other, and furthermore, keep us from putting our efforts towards SERIOUS and MASSIVELY large issues. In your case it most certainly is warranted, you deserve better than the words of your aunt. You must now use your own hard work ethic and merit to make something of yourself going forward. It is a long and arduous plight and hopefully, in time, you're children will learn what hard work their mother and father did to give them what they needed to provide for them, and continue to work hard for themselves and their own future. Almost nothing in life is free, it takes work and dedication to an art, craft, or science to make it in life anywhere in the world. The standards we need to survive cannot be lowered, we only need to figure how to bring everyone up to meet it, leaving NO ONE behind. Like Morgan Freeman (actor and actual civil rights activist of the 60s) has pointed out countless times, to get rid of racism, we have to stop talking about it and using it, victim or monster, to gain advantage over one another. We have to love/hate each other for the people we are at a psychological level, not a physical level. MLK Jr. made this paramount and it still resides in almost all Americans, left and right, to this day. Only the fringe on both sides of the isle are bat shit crazy, but with the power of the internet they have a bull horn like no other and now more than ever people have to start distancing themselves from crazy, even big companies like Google and Facebook are drinking the cool-aid and the very policies put in place by the fringe are now backfiring on the fringe that put it there to begin with. May you find happiness going forward as well as may you recover and learn from your mistakes. We are all human beings on this planet and the moment we devalue any singular person based on how they were born is when the value of any argument made by the devaluing individual is lost, no if's and's or but's. In the words of homosexual liberal comedian Stephen Fry "Trump becoming president of the United States is not a victory of the right, it was a failure of the left." Question your beliefs and question the world around you. What was wrong with the left to let the right win? (Not from a strategic point, think about the policies being pushed) What were they doing that alienated people down the middle so massively than ever before. Ironically your aunt probably knows as should you, she did it to you. What if the tables were turned. Case-in-point: I dated a black woman years ago and her family disowned her and did everything they could to get me kicked out of college and fired from work because of my race exclusively (which they failed horribly thank goodness). I'm white, and I was a victim of racism just like you're boyfriend, because it can happen to anyone and we should stand together.
Well you know, whatever color you are, white black orange yellow blue grey WTF ever, you are that color because of your ancestors traditions, beliefs, what have it, so if you are a solid black person, white, brown whatever, and you decide to cross that you are ending the race of your bloodline for many many generations, I defiantly see why this is a big deal to elders, it's not always because of racist buckshot, dumbass snowflakes just make everything racist, it's about pride in your bloodline
I think you should give them the time of day that they are willing to give you. It's a two way street. You should forgive them but that doesn't mean you have to be ignorant and stay around them. If you're respectful enough and they still can't accept you for who you are then they don't truly love you. Start your own family. That's how generations are built. Sometimes it's without the help of those that came before us and there ain't nothing wrong with that. You blaze your trail of peace and love and teach your children how to do the same.

He's somehow more brilliant as Dave Chappelle The Person than even The Comedian.
@rebecca Shut up you npc
The last sentence was the most important. ‘’I can still be friends with somebody I disagree with’’ Dave Chappelle
Yes! And they cut him off there just when chapelle was about to spit some knowledge!!!
You think Russia colluded with Trump to get him elected? Well, Hillary basically bought her nomination from the DNC and screwed Bernie in the process. @@DarynLuna Oh boy, here it comes. Dave's got nothing against trans people, he just wouldn't sleep with someone whose biological sex (and hence their genitals) don't match his sexual preference. And the next bit in the set throws doubt on _that_ point. Clearly, it's the setup for a joke, but the joke _works_ because it implicitly references the combination of subconscious squimishness around a hetero person thinking about sleeping with an individual with the same genitalia as them, and the perceived exoticism and curiosity that exists _alongside_ it (rather than repressed underneath), and opposite the acceptance and normality of trans people in non-sexual contexts like the workplace (in other words, most people truly don't give a damn and treat trans people the same as any other stranger, which is to say uncaringly).

It's simply unacceptable, and I refuse to partake or be around such behaviour.
ur right
We don't get to choose our family.
@@pioneermac3802 I'm Native American, don't know who David Duke is and correct skin color is not a race but everyone seems to assume it is, besides you get my point and if you don't then whos the dipshit? I have dated many colors but at the end of the day I will not be the one to alter the color of my bloodline, nobody of any color seems to realize they are unique, and are what they are by their ancestors, of the world survives long enough, which I doubt, everyone will be one color many many generations from now and the unique factor will be lost
That look Chappelle gave when Stewart goes “it’s what Dave said” made me lol
Jon needs to come back and finish ending Tucker Carlsons career.
Check the ratings.
You Americans need to vote! Don't wait for Jon.
Get the money out of your politics as other civilized countries do!
Washed up Stewart wants no part of Tucker now.
@@onidtubes Lol, you clearly have no idea.
How many times can I upvote this?
Never thought about Stewart and Chappelle having overlapping material for some reason, but I like how nicely it fits.
they both just "get it"
What a time to be alive. Comedians speaking on heavy and serious topics of politics. That's awesome.
The power of bringing comic relief during times of extreme sadness and grief and hopelessness…both these men give of that relief ❤️❤️
Deepest voices in stand up comedy
Joey Diaz+smoking a pack everyday+seen shit= deepest voice in comedy
From exhaustion of trying to explain reality to people over the years, just look at their facial expressions
it's the mic.
Yeah, and his voice used to be higher pitched, guess it comes with age 😁Love Dave Chapelle and John
Everything Dave Chappelle says is quotable.
Chapelle , Stewart ticket 2020 :)
Chapelle yes, Stewart hell no
Could you imagine?? I think that would actually work!? Could it be worse?? Not a chance....
OMFG! I!!! That Would be AMAZiNG!!! AMAZING! JON STEWART and DAVE CHAPELLE 2020 Mind Blown!
YES!!!!
@Gooey 911 for real. Cap'n crunch and count chocula 2024
"You were like a visual cue to be rational"
i didn't know how much I needed this interview
I love real interviews, answers....
- listening to a conversation without 50 people yelling over each other....
Jon Stewart is so on point as well... wow
Allen Strough they’re both missing it actually
Their both smart men and I agree 100% with their political view. Which is amazing cause they are the funniest men on television also in my opinion.
2 of the greatest comedians and thinkers in one room. Amazing
" He transformed the Whitehouse but the Whitehouse did not transform him." - John Stewart
For real that’s deep. The history associated with being a president couldn’t change him.
" couldn't transform him ".
We need John Stewart
jon is too reactive, dave is the introspective one we need.
I miss you, Jon Stewart. You and your delicious humour made the madness bearable. Wish you'd come back, but hope you're having a great time. 😭❤
WAYYYYY better than Trevor
he is married and rich...so defo having time of his life, indeed he is.
We here for Dave who tf is Jon
@John Garson that's tha problem. There aren't just 2 points of view in america but there are only 2 political parties. How do all these millions of diff points of view get packed into just liberal or conservative? It amazes me how dumb, how divided, how incredibly weak and naive and ignorant average americans are. You all deserve every bit of what is coming your way.
There was a lot of leading questions they did not take. Good on you two of the people I respect the most.
“A visual cue to be rational” omg my heart. Genius.
These are the two best things to happen to Comedy Central in the last 20 years, and they both left. This should tell you something.
Yeah, they made a metric assload of money, and have moved on to further their own personal projects in life after giving us years of great entertainment. Too bad hacks like Hannity and Tucker don't have the same integrity.
"generic quote from the interview we just saw." Omg so true
He's Not making the wave, he's just surfing it
And you aren't making the comments, just parroting them.
@@SalvableRuin that's what Dave said, so are you hurt
Trump didn't put the kids in cages, Obama did
It's evident these 2 highly respect each other, and it's just awesome to see.
Shut up. You are a dumb fuck. Your comment is cringy
“He’s not making the waves, he’s just surfing it!” 🏄♀️ Brilliant!
*Oh man, what a great pair!*
This made me laugh so hard. XD
thats what she said?
Of tits
Love you both. You re amazing!
This was so much better than any other interview I've seen for a while...
“The alternative to giving him a chance was storming the streets” 6:43 it’s like he could see the future
we miss you Jon Stewart!
xianneh did he die?
@@06livefast No, but his show got taken over by an unfunny prick.
HOTBALLZ no you did 😂
The fastest 10 minutes of my life, this should've been at least an hour
That's what she said
@@christopherhughes9787 dam ive have heard that joke over the years you sir have restored my faith in this one comment lol
"He's not making the wave, he's just surfing it"
Perfect
"He transformed the White House and the White House wasn't able to transform him."
Man that was *deep*
There was a line in this interview where Jon said: *Trump appeals to the narcissism of journalists themselves*
Why was that cut out?? HUH?? CNN??
It was cut out because CNN is the fuel that helps keep the lefts bullshit agenda a float. All anyone has to do is research the owners of CNN & MSNBC. Then flip flop their narrative & bring it straight to their fukn door step. See how much they enjoy the spotlight for a change...while it magnifies what their actually doing instead of what whe're not doing. #SELFDIVIDING
Time Warner is owned by em too
How u know?
@@amandacole7517 just stop
This was a short version of the interview. I think they chopped off most of the 2nd half.
Have you ever seen CNN? Have you ever seen CNN on weeed man?
This needs more likes!
😂😂
Red team go! Red team go!
LOL 🤣
Half Baked is now 20 years old
The genius of Dave Chappelle lies in his astute 'observation' of America!!! It's so horrifying you have to laugh to survive it!!!
CA: “I hadn’t thought of it that way”
That’s what Dave does. He makes you think
Both brilliant. We don’t hear from either one of them enough.
Two of the most intuitive and *brilliant* people alive today. It's funny, but I also hang on every word they say whenever I see either of them, knowing I will not only laugh, but I will also learn from the narrative. Can't get enough.
Is there more of this coming ? It ends so abruptly.
They cut the part where Jon slams the media for being too emotional and that Trump will win the war against the media if they don't change.
Two brilliant, genuinely good hearted, funny people that i honestly didnt know had a relationship and its freaking awesome
There's a ton of people that I love and respect that I completely disagree with. -ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: TALL ORDER
How? How do you respect and love someone that you completely disagree with? How? ( divorce pending)
Care
808 Dream I lean on the liberal side and my best friend is a hard right conservative. Caring for someone means you can look past someone’s politics
Frost523 4 , that's not the same as "completely disagree with"...
Walter Hayley I cant really disagree with someone’s personality. I’m not like “ I disagree with you having a positive vibe”. It doesn’t really make sense you know
