Fun thing at 4:50. Master Roshi says Goku can't handle his grapes after Turtle tells them he is sweating purple. Goku is most likely heavily alergic to them and thus alergic to the medicine Trunks gave him since it was grape flavored and probably had some grape derivates in it. That is the real reason he doesn't like them, he is actually alergic, is not a thing a taste. But Goku being Goku probably doesn't know what alergies are. So he just explains as if it was that he just doesn't like them. He had an actual sensible reason for not drinking that medicine in the first place after the first time, he just didn't know how to explain it.

Been watching through the back log of your reaction videos and im honestly very pleased that you add extra content by reviewing, disect and adding perspective rather than just watching the video and thats it. Get ready for the creepiest and funniest character in the show, Cell. Specifically his first form. He stops being creepy after, but stays fun as all hell.
This is the turning point, from here on as well as being an abridged series it becomes a better story than the original as well as being hilarious as hell
Glad to see that ending landed so well. The stunned expressions of confusion (and maybe disgust?) On your faces was fantastic. I'm excited for you to get introduced to our new friend. Edit: I can see your Patreon, and know you've done through episode 44. That said, that's one of the moments I'm most hyped for you reaction for, as "Video Killed the Radio Star" is one of my favorite moments of the whole series. Edit 2: After rewatching the ending of Episode 44, I realized I missed a piece of the playlist I linked you guys last video. It's been fixed now, but between episodes 44 and 45 is a short video that ties directly into episode 45 called "Celloween," it came out at Halloween and was a fun little sequence.
Thanks for adding that to the playlist. We’ve been using yours and another playlist to compare notes so we don’t miss anything . The other playlist had celloween so we knew about it 🙂
Putting some gravitas and emotion into Kami giving up his life to fuse with Piccolo never happened with the original Dragon Ball Z, it happened exactly as Bethany was expecting the DBZA version to. I loved it.
And we finally get to my favorite character that TFS dubbed for DBZA. I literally check your channel every day for your reactions for these and the RWBY episodes. Love you guys!
One of the best Charakters of the Story have arrived. This Antagonist rocks. In the OG he was mostly just another Fighter whit a bit of Creepyness, here they play on fully into the Scaryness.
Some trivia About the villians in this arc: Toriyama's former editor has made various calls when the manga was publised week by week. Originally the Android Saga was supposed to just revolve around Androids 19 and 20/Doctor Gero. Until he got a a call from his former editor that went sorta like this: The bad guys that you hyped up where ...an old guy and a fat guy Really? So thats how we got 17 and 18 a few weeks later...with a new call: What, this time it's just some brats? So Toriyama changed the bad guys twice because of pressure of his former editor until we landed here... at Cell. And this will not be the last time he will call in and diss Toriyama's design.
I think that was a good decition overall. If the great danger was an mimic and an a old man, that gonna sound stupid. And after that, 2 teens, when they come from Freezer 🙄🙄🙄. Well that sound like a bad joke. Toriyama, was an idea guy, but needed someone to put order. The thing is that, when Toriyama, had truly freedom, the best that he did, was the mess of Buu.
Yup, that was crazy. so much pressure for the creator. Cell's design was fine in his imperfect form but like you said...the call from the editor continues on and on.
The story is great because of Dragon ball z ITSELF. These seasons of Dragon ball z are known by most dbz fans as some of the best writing from Akira Toriyama. No offense to teamfourstar i love them! Was totally addicted when dbz abridged was new and totally support their work, they did an amazing job crafting around the story but the stories brilliance, suspense and intensity comes straight from the source material. They do add their own opinions, like Goku being a bad father when he's literally not at all but watching this in its prime was literally like the walking dead in its prime. The hysteria was so lit , so much that my teachers would get excited about the next episodes. NO CAP! TFS does amazing but these seasons of dbz are some of the most classic, spooky, emotional, exciting, innovative episodes. True fans end up wanting to just go pop in the blu ray xoxo This was a great reaction, we all were spooked when we first saw Cell xoxo
You have now entered a new arc and it is insane how much effort goes into the writing from this point on. The rest of the show pales in comparison to what comes next, and I am so jazzed to see you guys see it.
The way completed it was perfect too. They do throw in dashes of past jokes and continue on with some. And the story I feel was a very accurate yet unique way to complete it. I think you will love the coming episodes.
When Bethany said that she thought the new enemy was Freeza, I will say that she was roughly 10% correct. Don't want to spoil too much, so gonna just leave it at that and not explain further. :P In the Japanese and Dragonball Z Kai versions, at this point Piccolo is still lying to the other fighters that "he was never their friend and is still plotting to take over the Earth", which is also why Kami was so unwilling to fuse back together as Kami suspected that Piccolo only wanted to gain power for this dastardly goal. The viewers of course know at this point that this is an obvious delusion and Piccolo is a friend to them, even if he isn't willing to admit it to himself yet. It should be noted that King Piccolo (The original Piccolo Kami was part of) was a racial supremacist. I quote King Piccolo: "That's the problem with the human race. No respect...for the superior species." Soooo yeah... I think you can understand why Kami was a little hesitant to fuse back together with Piccolo even if technically this is a reincarnation of King Piccolo, Piccolo Jr.
Flash Stonewood's voice (The reporter in Ginger Town) was voiced by PurpleEyesWTF. Sadly doesn't make abridged content anymore, but he was famous for his None Piece series and his colabs with other VAs. Those colabs being videos like Pirates And/Or Ninjas and The Pursuit of Happiness.
Great comment about transitioning from entertainers to artists. The TFS team really took the upcoming arc to another level, even outdoing the original show in some of it's execution. They did so well that the makers of DragonBall Super even took some aspects of DBZ Abridged and incorporated them into the DBS canon.
In the original, Kami doesn't even give a reason why he doesn't want to fuse with Piccolo, only that he was trying to figure out what this "new threat" really was. It was at the moment he felt the deaths of all those people that he finally decided Earth no longer needed a guardian, but a warrior to fight on its behalf. TFS gave weight to his indecision, reasoning about how Kami had actually been isolated up on the lookout for hundreds of years. During the original, I barely shrugged, but when Kami said "It's just another prison" I genuinely had tears in my eyes. On the plus side, we get interactions between Nail, Kami, and Piccolo inside his head which is going to be freaking amazing just from that Rapture comment. Also, I loved both of your reactions when our "newest threat" said "... friend". I giggled because I knew you had both telepathically asked "What the F*CK was that?!"
The newest villain, his name is Cell and the bottom line of who he is and what he is, simultaneously, figuratively he is the entire Frieza Nemak Arc, all wrapped up in one giant burrito of a being, as in, he's Piccolo, Vegeta, Frieza and Goku, all at once.
This arc has it's jokes as well as serious moments. They balance them fairly well placing them where they needed to be and then found places for the jokes not to break the moment. It's a credit to their writing ability.
I agree the writers of DBZA do an amazing job with the Kami moment making us feel why he hasn't just fused right away. They did more than the actual show did on that front I think in some instances!
Welcome to the Cell arc, done to absolute perfection by TFS, Cell is the absolute most Perfect villain in all of Dragon Ball Z, and TFS manages to make him even better.
Context time, Uncle Gramma: The difference between Frieza and Perfection™ is wisdom and point of view. Time is literally money in anime. While this will come literally decades later, the underlying message here is understanding both yourself and where you are/what you're doing. Frieza is a child. He never had to work at anything, he never had to struggle to achieve greatness, so when he met an equal that had become that equal through hard work and most importantly sacrifice, none of that explanation meant anything to him. You might as well been talking about pepperoni pizza on the moon just tastes different. Frieza thinks growth is just getting more more-er, and that's it. The DBZ team spent quite of time (therefore money) showing the audience this in detail, and it sets these two people apart by quite a bit. Perfection™ has a whoooole different outlook. You have to have innate talent, and that's step one. Then you have to have a plan to get to step two. Step two can be done by working and slaving and busting your ass and gaining wisdom and strength... but that is super inefficient and really really boring. So how do you get around that? How do you do the work and keep it fresh? Turns out you can just do both by literally taking the necessary work... when other people have already done it. THEN you can apply it immediately, you can see the results immediately, and THEN you make it better, you make it more exciting, you bust your ass for a lot less time and it comes out *PERFECT*. So all you need to do is find people who have done the work for you, and do your thing. It's the perfect plan.
Well, *that* was a lot to unpack. More Android shenanigans (17 and 18 are actually cyborgs, technically speaking), which is always fun. If you’re familiar with the original Dragonball, then you know the full story of Piccolo and Kami. And now, you’ve met the new Big Bad. A being with many talents (besides singing), as you’ll soon discover.
You guys are fantastic to watch, you watch and you take in the content and give the best reviews, and honestly it's very refreshing to see, most reactors just watch laugh and sign off but you guys give your opinions on how great, good or bad the content is. I'm looking forward to future episodes because you will enjoy the heck out of this season just pure awesomeness from here on out.
This was great one I liked how they kept Cell a mystery for awhile he’s so unsettling. I’m glad Gohan was enjoying himself trying to figure it out. The tension between Trunks & Bulma is hilarious & Gohan’s “in what regard” cracked me mommy & daddy issues galore. I was kinda hoping Piccolo would fall for the fusion trick again 😂. Vegeta still talking to himself out there in the dessert is great
And now you've met the big baddie of this saga. Enjoy the ride that is about to begin. Also, as incredible as the big reveal in this episode's introduction is, I love that you gave some shine to Kami's speech. His words and the music felt so heavy, like an old military vet that is facing his final battle, and TFS did an incredible job giving one last on screen send-off to a character that we've known since the original Dragon Ball days.
The android arc is arguably the high point of the series (second to the freezer arc) in many areas. You don't see it all here, but the concepts introduced are quite interesting, the fusion of man and machine (which started with freeza funnily enough) and the return of an og villian was cool. Also, toriyama upped his general storytelling with the mystery and suspense of the reveal of the androids and cell. Even the art improved as it's much more detailed and complex with more cities than just wastelands. ...sadly, it doesn't last. But enjoy cell!
I believe TFS once referred to this arc is their love letter to DBZ, so they took certain big moments more seriously instead of the a lot of jokes per minutes like you said.
You know it’s really funny how much you went into the writing of DBZA. Idk if you were made aware, but there’s actually a creator documentary series over at FourStarBento by the actual creators of DBZA where they rewatch the series and give tidbits of information into its development. It’s got all of the episodes up to episode 30 including their first three movies/specials iirc. Honestly I’d recommend watching on your own time.
Ah, best character unlocked.😈 He is hilarious, and we will quote everything he says. That intro was great. Takahata (voice of Nappa, Super Kami Guru, and Dende) nailed this character, and singing in character like that is quite impressive. Not quite perfect... But give him, eh, twelve episodes or so.😈
So, Piccolo fused again and is now the strongest member of the cast. It's actually kind of hilarious how strong they are now, if they'd been on good enough terms to fuse before they could have easily taken out any of the previous threats.
The introduction of Cell in this series always gave me chills. Welcome to the start of the Cell Arc

Oh yeah: 10 pounds of NOPE in a 5 pound bag though in this case I'd say 50 in a 10 pound bag
"The blast came _from the inside!!!"_
Ah yes, the pilot used the good ol' "Saiyan eject button."
Been watching through the back log of your reaction videos and im honestly very pleased that you add extra content by reviewing, disect and adding perspective rather than just watching the video and thats it. I feel like you two genuinely add something to my experience of watching through this series again.
One of the most iconic villains in the franchise got introduced! Hope you like him!.
So far it was a great intro 😯
Get ready for the creepiest and funniest character in the show, Cell. Specifically his first form. He stops being creepy after, but stays fun as all hell.
😎👍🙂
The introduction of the best character lol
This is the turning point, from here on as well as being an abridged series it becomes a better story than the original as well as being hilarious as hell
Can’t wait 😀🤩😎🤟
The other playlist had celloween so we knew about it 🙂
He arrives. We're in the endgame now ladies, gentlemen, and anyone inbetween.
Gotta represent that technicolor rainbow in between.
😎🤟
"Am I the only one who felt a massive tone shift?"
-Nail
Putting some gravitas and emotion into Kami giving up his life to fuse with Piccolo never happened with the original Dragon Ball Z, it happened exactly as Bethany was expecting the DBZA version to. I loved it.
Oh wow. Props to dbza then for putting some more weight to it 😯😀
And we finally get to my favorite character that TFS dubbed for DBZA. I literally check your channel every day for your reactions for these and the RWBY episodes. Love you guys!
Glad you are enjoying the reactions 😀😎🤟🥳
One of the best Charakters of the Story have arrived. This Antagonist rocks.
In the OG he was mostly just another Fighter whit a bit of Creepyness, here they play on fully into the Scaryness.
Dig it 😎🤟
Some trivia
About the villians in this arc: Toriyama's former editor has made various calls when the manga was publised week by week.
Originally the Android Saga was supposed to just revolve around Androids 19 and 20/Doctor Gero. Until he got a a call from his former editor that went sorta like this:
The bad guys that you hyped up where ...an old guy and a fat guy Really?
So thats how we got 17 and 18 a few weeks later...with a new call:
What, this time it's just some brats?
This is sorta when things get more serious in the show, and honestly it's amazing.
Love that they took that chance. That they decided to make a shift because that’s what the story demanded. 😀
11:50 Poor Vegeta 😂
The DBZ Abridged Cell arc is my fav of their work, its truly the start of something great
You have now entered a new arc and it is insane how much effort goes into the writing from this point on. The rest of the show pales in comparison to what comes next, and I am so jazzed to see you guys see it.
Can’t wait 😀🥳
The way completed it was perfect too. They do throw in dashes of past jokes and continue on with some. And the story I feel was a very accurate yet unique way to complete it. I think you will love the coming episodes.
When Bethany said that she thought the new enemy was Freeza, I will say that she was roughly 10% correct.
Don't want to spoil too much, so gonna just leave it at that and not explain further. :P
In the Japanese and Dragonball Z Kai versions, at this point Piccolo is still lying to the other fighters that "he was never their friend and is still plotting to take over the Earth", which is also why Kami was so unwilling to fuse back together as Kami suspected that Piccolo only wanted to gain power for this dastardly goal.
Cell’s entrance is so much more creepier with TFS’ version and you gotta give credit to Takahata101, he did an amazing job voicing him
Great comment about transitioning from entertainers to artists. The TFS team really took the upcoming arc to another level, even outdoing the original show in some of it's execution. They did so well that the makers of DragonBall Super even took some aspects of DBZ Abridged and incorporated them into the DBS canon.
Introducing one of the best Dragon Ball villains in both the abridge and the normal series.
The introduction of who wasn't named yet to these 2? Good job comments. Never fail
This arc has it's jokes as well as serious moments. They balance them fairly well placing them where they needed to be and then found places for the jokes not to break the moment. It's a credit to their writing ability.
Detective Gohan is the best part of this episode, and I'm just like him, I love a good mystery
I love your reaction at the end! That look at each other of "What the fuck is that?" Welcome, to the beginning of
*P E R F E C T I O N*
"Could this be freiza?" Well, to be fair, you're not entirely wrong
I agree the writers of DBZA do an amazing job with the Kami moment making us feel why he hasn't just fused right away. They did more than the actual show did on that front I think in some instances!
Fun Fact Kami speak in the right ear and Nail the left, for those headset viewers.
Welcome to the Cell arc, done to absolute perfection by TFS, Cell is the absolute most Perfect villain in all of Dragon Ball Z, and TFS manages to make him even better.
Next time on Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
Cell: WANT TO SEE ME DRINK THIS GUY!
Context time, Uncle Gramma:
The difference between Frieza and Perfection™ is wisdom and point of view.
Thanks for the tip on the secret to life 😀
Imperfect Cell is such a creepy bastard 😭😭
😨
Glad we get to meet cell, he is the magnus opus of team four star and one of the best villains in any form of media! You will probably love him!
We’ve watched ahead and we do indeed enjoy what he brings to the show 😀🤩
He has arrived. The Perfect Singing Being...
Thanks so much ☺️ we love being able to do this together so we can talk about it right after each episode. 🙂
Time for the best anime abridged arc ever
😎🤟🥳
This was great one I liked how they kept Cell a mystery for awhile he’s so unsettling. I’m glad Gohan was enjoying himself trying to figure it out. The tension between Trunks & Bulma is hilarious & Gohan’s “in what regard” cracked me mommy & daddy issues galore. I was kinda hoping Piccolo would fall for the fusion trick again 😂. Vegeta still talking to himself out there in the dessert is great
Goosebumps activated
Chi-Chi is in there puffing the La with Roshi and the boys!
Now only greatest will happen now that Cell has arrived😂
🤩
Ah, when the Nameless Namekian was the strongest being on the planet. Love that guy.
"Is that Freeza?"
Welll...not quite yes...but also not quite no either....
🤔🤯
And now you've met the big baddie of this saga. Enjoy the ride that is about to begin.
Also, as incredible as the big reveal in this episode's introduction is, I love that you gave some shine to Kami's speech. His words and the music felt so heavy, like an old military vet that is facing his final battle, and TFS did an incredible job giving one last on screen send-off to a character that we've known since the original Dragon Ball days.
Finally Cell has arrived. Let the innuendo's begin.
Welcome to when Team Fourstar started to show us all they were LEGENDS.
A nice detail--compare how Krillin describes 18 with how he described his girlfriend before.
The best part is they take every character and turn some part of their personality to 11
Which is brilliant strategy. 🤩
Brace yourself, because this next arc is... *PERFECTION*.
Technically it started when Trunks appeared.
😁🤩
I loved your reactions to Cell's introduction, just that look of "What the actual F are we looking at?"
Gohan got offended when trunks mention him taking a lot after goku 😂
"In what regard?" 😠
Haha yeah the line delivery and look at that moment was perfect 😂
Every episode from here on is absolutely incredible
😎🤟😀
Cell arc is probably the most beloved arc of the whole series and my personal favorite too
You know it’s really funny how much you went into the writing of DBZA.
Your reaction to Krillin describing 18 was adorable. A sharp contrast to how he was when dating Maron.
That guy was really thinking it was gonna work, he's not 18's type.
He’s heeeeeere. Oh I can’t wait
Also i can’t get over the fact Vegeta has killed more civilians than the androids
Ah, best character unlocked.😈 He is hilarious, and we will quote everything he says.
That intro was great. Takahata (voice of Nappa, Super Kami Guru, and Dende) nailed this character, and singing in character like that is quite impressive. Not quite perfect... But give him, eh, twelve episodes or so.😈
Oh yes. Can’t wait for a musical episode 😀
welcome to green bug man. Enjoy your stay. I feel like things are gonna get wild. buckle in ya'll.
So, Piccolo fused again and is now the strongest member of the cast. It's actually kind of hilarious how strong they are now, if they'd been on good enough terms to fuse before they could have easily taken out any of the previous threats.
"Hello, friend."
Enjoy the final villain TFS adapted. Can't wait to see your reactions.
the appearance of cell the rarest villain of dbz
😀
