They never _had_ any part to play in this, because they are not Fox Marvel characters. DISNEY was the one forcing diversity (demanding the inclusion of She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, etc... all women characters) into the movie. Some scenes were shot, and they TESTED POORLY. Ryan cut them and made sure the scenes would NOT be included in the director's cut when released to DVD. The billion dollar box office proved Ryan was right. IN an economy where Disney's profit is shrinking... money talks more than forced DEI rules.

You're right about Black Widow, even if her movie was sub-par. Wonder Woman, however, was mostly only successful because Gal Gadot is hot -- which to many simpletons trumped the fact that she can barely speak english.
I would have no problem if Brie played Captain Marvel like a guy (her character is supposed to be US military after all) provided the movie had a well thought out story that wasn't total nonsense, or she had a character arc, or stakes, or an understandable motivation. Captain Marvel’s 1 Billion Dollar run deserves to be an asterisk. Sandwiched between 2 of the biggest comic book movies of all time. Then look how The Marvels went. Ryan knew what he was doing as he wanted to make the film for the fans!

Ryan Reynolds knows from blade what happens when the studio and the actor dont work together, and he knows from Green Lantern what happens when the studio doesn't listen to the audience. He is making all the right choices based on very solid experience.

Disney doesn’t have to move to making everything rated R. There are certain characters that can’t be portrayed without the R-rating. If Blade, Deadpool, Punisher, and some elements of Wolverine can’t be R-rated, then there’s no point in making them to begin with. These are the characters that people that aren’t even Marvel geeks know are badass, and would ruin the MCU if they weren’t made as R-rated movies. Wolverine might be old, but if they’re gonna make any more movies about him, they have to realize that he’s a severely tortured character and is a very violent character by nature because of this. He’s that lab animal that survived and is going after anyone that hurt him in the past.
Having Capt Marvel would have made ZERO sense. The same for she hulk. However, X23 and Elektra 100%. Casandra, X23 and Elektra are badasses.
It's not Ryan's responsibility to cater to Larson's feelings about these scenes, Deadpool and wolverine was an incredible movie, I can say whole heartedly that having her in the film would've made it considerably worse, even with just a minute or two of screen time, not too mention I'm sure she's bittter about Deadpool and wolverine's box office success over the marvels debute, but the marvels looked awful from the first trailer... While the former looked incredible thru and thru, and beyond exceeded my expectations!!!!

Honestly the first Captain Marvel movie would have been a blockbuster with any actress in the role because of where it was sandwiched in the MCU.

It has come to a point where they need to put clauses into contracts where if the tv show or movie bombs, then the actresses needs to pay the company for their toxic feminist BS. This is needed because these people are literally getting paid to ruin the company...
