- How does working with Argentium silver compare to sterling silver? Find out from skilled jewellery instructor Ronda Coryell, as she talks us through the differences between Argentium silver and sterling silver when heat is applied.
A range of Argentium Silver Bullion is available to purchase from Cooksongold here: bit.ly/1WUsqa6. You can also buy Techniques In Argentium, Volume 1 By Ronda Coryell here: bit.ly/21C1aEf.
I'm about to work with Argentium for the first time, this was very helpful. Thank-you!!
Best of luck!
An excellent video. I want to try working with Argentium Silver having only ever worked with either Fine Silver or Sterling Silver. This video is very clear and to-the-point. Thank you :-)
Thank you for your lovely comment Hilary, we are glad to hear you found the video useful!
I could listen to Ronda all day.
Thanks. I may try working with this silver. I'm just starting, so this will save me a lot of headache and shorten my learning curve!
We are very happy to hear this. If you have any further questions, please do let us know :)
This video was incredibly helpful
Great, thanks!
This video is super informative and poignant. Thank you for adding content with substance to RUclips!
Wow. All good to know
Excellent video, straight to the point. Thanks
Hi, A greatly informative video..Do you think it's possible to coat copper with Argentium silver?
Thank you! Is it possible to use it for electrolitical baths, I mean argentium plating over other metals?
Unfortunately Argentium plating is not available. You can find our silver plating solution here: www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery-Tools/Heimerle-And-Meule-Silver-Plating---Bath-Scandia-360-1-Litre-Ready-Mix-Solution36g-Agl-Un1935-prcode-998-138R.
Kind Regards.
Sterling silver is silver with 925/1000 parts silver to 75 parts impurities, usually copper. Argentium meets that standard. Argentium ^is^ sterling.
Is Argenteum real silver?
Yes, the basic material info is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentium_sterling_silver
@@cooksongold Sorry, I listed the wrong silver. Just bought an old American pocket watch (late 1800). The case states "Argentine Silver", ever heard of it? Will acid test it when it gets here. Thanks for your past response.
Why have I ever been using sterling at all lmao
Argentium is SO FRUSTRATING. Especially when you’re making complex, multi-step pieces
Sian says:
"What makes it difficult when making complex pieces? I've not used Argentium a lot but would love to start developing some skills with it next year. I know we've recently introduced Argentium solder paste so would soldering it make it easier to work with?"
