One of my good friends as a teenager, Kyle Cooke passed away when he was 19 from cancer and Underoath was his favorite band. He lost his leg at 12 years old and endured countless surgeries and hardships but he was the warmest, most amazing human being I have ever met in my life BY FAR. I have strived to be one millionth of the person he was since the day I met him. He was a phenomenal musician as well. His band was called "A Hope For Home". He died after playing a concert, doing what he loved most. Please listen to them, specifically the song "Kyle".
This song played at Kyle's memorial service. I am an atheist, but every time I hear this is makes me cry and I hope with all of my heart that I someday am able to find a connection to God as he had and I'm able to finally be worthy of a friend as amazing as Kyle. I love you man. I miss you and think about you \always. Even 15 years later.
Underoath is amazing.
Yes. Really surprised by the song they chose, tho.
@@heavymetalmusichead4969
It is one of their most straight forward religious songs.
@@heavymetalmusichead4969 This song is amazing but yeah as far as classic underneath music, these types are a minority
Aaron Marsh + Aaron Gillespie + Spencer Chamberlain was such a great vocal trio on this song.
Should have done "A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White" by Underoath.
agreed.
Hearing this song now after the fallout of the band's comeback and denial of faith... Fucking breaks my heart.
They just grew up and realized religion is bullshit. Get over it.
Huge Underoath fanboy here.
This song was the end of "They're Only Chasing Safety" (Their first album with Spencer ((Their scream vocalist))), Would I say this is an accurate representation of Underoath? No. However, I understand why you chose this song, primarily in context of "Christian Week." Honestly, there's not a lot in their other songs that I'd consider religious, aside from some contextual things. This album helped me a lot during the darkest period of my life, and although I'm not religious, it didn't sway me in the slightest.
As someone else mentioned in the comments, when they came back together a few years back, they dropped the Christian label because of how Spencer was treated after their initial run (fell into addiction). I've seen them three times, and will see them open up for AIC and Korn.
If you go back for round two: "A Boy Brushed in Black and White" is their biggest hit. I also recommend "It's Dangerous Business Walking out Your Front Door," "Writing on the Walls," "Bloodlust," "Returning Empty Handed," or "I Hate It."
Thanks for reacting, and keep up the quality content!
Strange song for a first Underoath react haha
Being As An Ocean - Dear G-D
August Burns Red - Redemption
Silent Planet - Depths II
Impending Doom - Murderer
Impending Doom- Serpent tongue or Deciever
Them some Christian BANGERS you listed. Also Shekinah by Saving Grace. Or Assistant to the Regional Manager by TDWP
This song doesn't quite represent what underoath sounds like.
At a time, for a time, it totally did. And I loved it :)
Should have Done another song with underoath like..
When the sun sleeps
Writing on the walls
Reinventing your exit
CLOOOOOSE MY EYES
Just for tonight
Writing on the walls always gives me chills.
@@Jmack7861 the sun still sleeps...but when she awakes!
I'm no longer a Christian, but will always be a fan of Underoath. Aaron's voice is angelic; especially in this song.
Writing on the wall - Underoath
I had forgotten how much i liked this song
Glad I found this. I played this 11 YEARS ago at my grandmother's funeral. She was very religious and would have really enjoyed this song. Now I can re-learn the song and play it to honor her husband, my grandfather, whose heavenly anniversary is coming up. thank you!
I think “To Whom it May Concern” might’ve been a better choice.
Therapy? - Me vs You
Therapy? - Stories
Therapy? - Callow
Therapy? - Diane
Therapy? - Screamager
Therapy? - bowels of love
Therapy? - Teethgrinder
Therapy? - a moment of clarity
Y'all sittin there tryin not to cry. Dont lie. Lol
Most of this song is Aaron Marsh from Copeland.
Thanks for doing Underoath. Was not expecting this one. If you decide to visit them again: Vacant Mouth, Returning Empty-handed or Down-Set-Go please.
the movie was meant for this song.. it was powerful!
A strange choice. Their next album, Define the Great Line, is a true post-hardcore "classic". Still holds up.
They do not generally not choose the songs themselves but are requested to do specific songs either by their patrions or by a general "public demand", so if you think it's a strange choice, blame either their patreons or the public ;-)
You really need to listen to something off of one of the first 2 Underoath albums. Cries of the Past, And I Dreamt Of You, Act of Depression, A Love So Pure, etc.
This band had one of the most drastic changes of sound ever in my opinion. This song is one of their better songs from this era. But you really need to hear what they used to sound like.
Their early stuff has such a unique sound. Almost like black metal at times.
Yes!! You need to hear they’re first 3 albums, “Act of depression, Cries of the past & The changing of times”, that was the real UnderØath. Had more of a Blacken Metalcore sound and with hard emotional & spiritual driven lyrics.
They grew into something special when they put out They’re Only Chasing Safety. That was their first masterpiece
@@BetterCallSaul.G they never lost their emotional side
UnderOath decided to "not be Christian" anymore. It sucked as a fan and a Christian, but whatevs. You should try to get an interview with Aaron Gillespie (the drummer). He's a smart guy, and shares quite a few views as you guys. Hope you guys are feeling well today.
XBM 79 They haven’t been a Christian band in years. I know them personally. Good dudes.
@@Raijin-RyuX24 I don't know them personally but they seem like good dudes.
They’re not selling the image of a Christian band anymore, they didn’t say anything about personal beliefs, fans have twisted their words though and didn’t get the meaning like always..
@@transient442 ...Spencer has gone on record and said he wasn't a Christian anymore (as well as another member apparently straight saying he was atheist). Tim has mentioned his beliefs saying he still goes to church but seems to express agnosticism in his speech. Aaron is still a believer in Jesus, but is pissed off at Christianity as a religious political tool. Dudley has expressed that he is still a Christian who has matured in his beliefs....all of this info I got from RUclips interviews of them personally over the last 1-3 years (and Aaron's Twitter)....So dude I don't know what the heck you're talking about.
I agree, it has sucked to see what they have become...not uncommon cause we all struggle...but they had a public platform..sucks to see them completely different. I remember the interviews where Jesus was shared boldly, but not anymore...Jesus knows.
SAVATAGE - Somewhere In Time/Believe
This is one of my top 5 songs of all time. So glad to see a reaction.
MORE UNDEROATH
T.S.O.L-Code Blue, The Germs-Land of Treason, The Weirdos-Solitary Confinement
Loved the reaction as i've always loved this song and it's message (even if the members of UO no longer identify as christian. God will use what he want's to glorify Himself). That being said i would love to eventually see a reaction to My Epic - Lower Still as it is one of the few songs that hits me spiritually and emotionally like a brick every time i hear it. Shalom
Havent seen full video yet but was sooo excited when i saw this in my notifications!!!
I love this band and hearing this song brings me to tears almost every time. I had a major come to daddy moment and to hear others in darkness coming to God is so reassuring for others! Keep up the incredible work!
This was the first band i got a CD for. I love them
Should have done ANY other Underoath song lmao.
Walking Out Your Front Door is Dangerous Business. Trust me. Best song.
Cries of the Past?
@@baconoftheark Yea definitely
Everyone Looks So Good From Here
Never broke ur faith....... Its how they express it!
one of the best song of underoath ,, love this song till death :)
Should’ve done “Breathe Into Me” by Red
One of my favs. Pretty inspiring.
*Snort*
I would never recommend an Underoath song. If anyone wants to know what list of songs I gave Vin and Sori for Christian metal, this is it: ruclips.net/p/PL9xCwZOFJ4eyD-F0hXGFCsl2eooxMfXvP
@@beckyleavitt7808 Yeah, I figured. But I certainly didn't recommend Underoath.
Late view.. but this actually encapsulates what UNDEROATH is to an exact perfect T.. or what they were rather. Soft and loving and raw.. poetic and brash.
Whispered words that lead to cries of forgiveness..
Finally, Im drowning in my sleep :)
Gojiraaaaaaaa - Of blood and salt
Oh man I love this music video. The song isn’t as great without the video, but it’s very powerful
Wait is this the Og music video or that monty python movie? My phone is small and I can’t see the video in the corner very well
Totally. The image Passion of Our Lord is so strong.
Paradise Lost - christendom
BOB DYLAN - ITS ALRIGHT MA (black and white vid) AND DESOLATION ROW
Im not really that religious, but man this song is so fucking good
IKR?!!!
I am Love Jesus Cristo
Moonspell - Night Eternal
We need some sleeping giant
Tithemi
YES!
If I'd die this is the song in my funeral i love this song so much and the band too.
Black Sabbath - Sympton of the Universe. The ending will blow your mind. Here's the link (with lyrics): ruclips.net/video/5g9x2fxBRAY/видео.html
Dream Theater 'Stream of Consciousness' live video @ Budokan, Japan.
Hallelu-YAH
I will tear up every time I listen to this song. Awesome vid guys
I’d like to recommend
Ghost - Prime Mover
Or Ghost - Witch Image
Y'all talk about about what would have been better songs for them to react to but you don't realize that this was the perfect song for them to react to based on their faith. They do reactions as "devils advocates" to black metal satan praise and this is a straight up worship song to God and I think this was the perfect song for them to react to. We're not here as a metal community to convince them of a belief we're here to show them music and make their own decision, If you know good christian metal share it too. So Vin and Sori check out Impending Doom - Silence The Oppressors. Its a message to unopen minded Christians from god loving metal heads.
A whole Christian week with no Demon Hunter?
For Love Not Lisa - Slip Slide Melting would have fit right in with this week
Underoath -writing on the walls
You should listen to underoath - a love so pure
For today fearless in fit for a King
The Devil Wears Prada - anything off With Roots Above Branches Below album
Its screamo my dudes
one day maybe you'll do an After forever song
I know it's not one of the more popular songs and for sure one of the most mellow but i still listen to Strong almost daily by AF.....the message just resonates with me and melodies are killer.
@@StormTheImmortal Strong is one of my favorites for sure.
@@beckyleavitt7808 I will
Y’all should do liferuiner- self purgatory. Absolutely amazing song!
Maximus decimus berritius Underrated band. There’s a good amount of Christian Hardcore bands that they could do!
After the Burial - Lost in the Static🔥
Such an old song but amazing
this song is a classic
Check out underoath "cries of the past" the song "the last" that was the underoath who we hung out with and saw at knk rehearsal studios where they started. Its black metalish and hardcore mix. Pretty cool for them being the Christians they were at the time. And former memebers still are
You forgot the best Christian Metal Band, Demon Hunter.
TDWP
Joey Thompson August burns red
I Love yours
I'm not a religious person but it is strange how people live wholly apart from the eternal, every day of their lives, acting mostly as flesh. Yet when the language of god and spirituality are experienced, particularly with music as the medium, there is an unmistakable sense of surrender. It's treated like a truth we are all waiting to return to our lives. Like we knew all our most cynical and mundane assertions were made so strongly because we wanted to provoke some correction from the universe. We don't want this to be all there is. But I could be way off base or just high AF.
Such a great song
This is like a random soft song from them. The rest of their music is metalcore and you’d probably enjoy it.
Pity the reaction wasn't to their older better stuff with Dallas Taylor.
Ross Shepherd the changing of times album is sooo good
OK cool now how bout black metal week?
This is a great fckin song, the build up is very clean. People say not like Underoath but I disagree.
You have to do them again to make up for this strange choice lol one of the big songs from the 2002-2006 albums
Young and Aspiring!!!
Great song right there
You keep depending on your patreons and they’ll keep leading you astray.
UnderOath haven’t been a Christian band for quite a long while. I know these dudes personally. This is a good song but not the best representation of their sound. Best song in my opinion is When the Sun Sleeps.
That's an old schooler
Becky Leavitt Hi, I disagree.
Who picked all the punk bands? Who picked all the Christian bands? This band isn’t even a Christian band and they haven’t been for many years. Who picked it? Who picks 99% of the songs they do? Just because it doesn’t say “alliance” at the beginning of the video doesn’t mean the selection doesn’t come from a patreon/alliance member.
The website “votes” might as well be nonexistent. It hasn’t been updated in months. I refuse to give money to anyone to watch them listen to music I can just listen to myself.
This type of RUclips content is NOT a job. It’s a hobby that’s become motivated by money. I recall them stating why they started the channel. I was here then too. It had nothing to do with money, patreons, favoritism or alienating those in the comments or those who don’t give them money.
As I stated. This channel is run by patreons. 99% of the selections they “react” to come from patreons or people who give them money. The 1% are Vins trio of Metallica, KoRn and Slipknot fanboy videos.
Sorry, but you nor anyone else can convince me otherwise. Have a good rest of your day.
Becky Leavitt Yes, you did. Just not something I’m willing to do. Sorry.
Please reach to the song "On my side" by demon Hunter. I guarantee it will be an eye opener.
“Live For The King” by Ronnie James Dio / Kerry Livgren
Essa banda é incrivel. Não só essa musica, todas são fantasticas.
Bad song =good talk
You guys should revisit this band.
Y'all should react to Wolves at the Gate!
It's funny because they were never really christians 😂😂😂😂😂
I am brazillian
Under oath was from my hometown ocala florida. This is a different band now. Always Christian based but they're garbage these days compared to the underoath i went to school with. Back around 1998 they were different members and a different singer.. A friend ive known quite sonetime. Dallas Taylor. He started the band. They used to play all the time at Knk rehearsal studios downtown along with sevendust and other local bands. TOTAL different sound and were very metal. Still Christian but sounded different. But Dallas and the remaining memebers all gave the band to a bunch of noobs who destroyed their unique sound. Dallas started a new band "maylene and the sons of disaster." After maylene barker. Gangster and her sons who all were shot up by cops in oklawaha florida, 20 mins from ocala. Dallas not to long ago went through a very very bad atv (4 wheeler) accident and mostly blind in one eye and completely blind in the other. He almost didn't live. Hes living at home with his family and has a 12 year old son or older by now. Pray for him. He will never tour again. Hes a great friend of mind.
angra - angels and demons
Wage War - Basic Hate
Please do Fields of Verdun - Sabaton new single 🙏💕
What's up with all these should've done this & that theres nothing wrong with this song, Underoath has always had this side theres not much screaming but this song is a highlight of what they are capable of musically & of who they are aswell
Sólstafir - Fjara ....please
If you're doing Christian type songs you should give Johnny cash " when the man comes around " a listen. All about revelations and shit. Its fucking quality #vinandsori
Or do you have to pay for requests?
You guys should do You’re Not Alone by Saosin
Pleeeeease, Slaughter to prevail- Chronic Slaughter
seraphim - for today
Or Writing on The Wall
react to Underoath - It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door
One day i hope to see them react to something off Divide the Great Line
Hey you should do a reaction to Queens of The Stone - Better Living Through Chemistry , The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret , and also Sick Sick Sick which are songs I think you'll enjoy by them :D
