SHOULD I GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE!!??
The Sei a boy meets Red would be the first, but this was one of the singles off the album. I don’t feel very receptive today would be good for that synth/scream
Writing on the walls. if you wont like that song, you wont like underoath. best of luck
Everyone deserves a second chance... I've had bout 2000... but, I'm cute.....and , well just cute... but alot!!
Always listen to at least 2 songs. Then decide. I would try a boy brushed red living in black and white
The only song that i've like "writing on the walls"
Underoath - Writing On The Walls is one of my fav songs. They are a band i have listened to for a very long time.
Facts
man i love these reactions. it is actually redirecting me to the music i listened to 10+ years ago.
Classic Underoath is the gold standard.
I miss Dallas but Spencer is sick too
@@lex_C_88 I miss maylene and the sons of disaster :(
@@steveo.574 You ain't lying. "Caution Dangerous Curves Ahead" is a criminally unknown song.
Without Underoath none of the metalcore bands you listen to would exist thou 😂 including BMTH this album came out in 2004 and still holds up today.
Not sure that underoath influenced many metalcore bands my man...maybe had a small influence in some ways on some bands, but to say that metalcore bands wouldn't exist bc of underoath, that's crazy talk.
Dustin Orrick that entire keyboard laced scene movement MANY of which Gibby praises wouldn’t not have sound they way they do without Underoath. It’s a fact; no Blessthefall, Motionless in White, Attack Attack, I See Stars, Woe Is Me, if you asked any of those bands who their number 1 influences are. Almost all of them would have said Underoath in 2009/10. That band was the only screamo band to ever headline Warped Tour. I think you forget just how big Underoath got the first time around.
IDK brotha, I love and respect underoath, but I think you're giving them way too much credit in the metalcore scene. Now if you said the post hardcore scene, I would say they had a huge influence on newer bands bc they were OGS of the genre, but Ive never heard any of the big metalcore bands say that their number one influence was underoath. In fact I'm pretty sure most of the big metalcore bands have been around longer than underoath. Like I said, I can see some bands being influenced by underoath a little bit, but not as much in the metalcore genre. I agree with you, bands like blessthefall, I can see that. That's more post hardcore than metalcore tho. Metalcore to me is bands like as I lay dying, lamb of God, Killswitch engage, shadows fall, Trivium, etc...to many to list. Most of them have been around far longer than underoath.
Madagascarian Islanders Underoath was only “metalcore” for the Cries of the Past album, and even then it was closer to Deathcore than anything else. But ok.
@Madagascarian Islanders Great video! Just what I was talking about. The early 90s bands were more hardcore based with melodic metal influences. And thank you, I forgot all about all out war! Used to rock the shit out of them in high school! Metalcore to me is defined by bands like Killswitch engage, shadows fall, lamb of God, God forbid, august burns red, unearth, Trivium, as I lay dying, etc...too many to list, all which either started before underoath or were coming up around the same time. Underoath to me is more screamo/post hardcore/hard rock. I'm sure they had an influence on a lot of modern post hardcore/screamo bands, but they don't really fit the metalcore mold.
The drummer has another band you'd like a lot more i think.
"Say this sooner" -The Almost
Yes please, this is the greatest song 🤘
Aaron Gillespe is a great treasure. Check out this live performance of "We were made for You" for one of your Sundays. ruclips.net/video/h8oR8lRYeUg/видео.html
He was in Paramore for a minute
1. A boy brushed red living in red
2. reinventing your exit
3. Writing on the walls
4. Paper lung
5. too bright to see too loud to hear
The sun still sleeps, alone in December, cries if the past.
I'd say if he wasnt a big fan of this song, probably point him to tracks off Define the Great Line first. Suj Still Sleeps is great and classic, BUT it shows its age and that it is early screamo/hardcore.
These 5 songs plus when the sun sleep are what got me into underoath
I agree with this list.. I’d add down, set, go tho
Everyone Looks So Good From Here
Underoath helped set the standard back in the day man. They played their part in the survival of metalcore. You have a mixed opinion on it because you're used to metalcore from the golden age and onward, I'm positive if you continued listening you'd really like a lot of their work.
That’s awesome dude
TRUTH
My guilty pleasure underoath
They were christian untill 2008 they dropped that title i believe Spencer said that
Everyone who listens to the song it's just waiting for the "drowning in my sleep" part the drop goes so hard
Aaron Gillespie one of the best drummers to walk planet earth
😂
What?! My man, I've always thought Spencer Chamberlain (Screamer) had one of the coolest screams ever. Check out some of the later music. It sounds more mature including his screaming. Underoath is rad. You definitely gotta give em another go.
Kyle Smedley different time haha. He started off with much heavier stuff and more guttural vocals. He should of started with underoath first lol
I'm heart broken 💔 that he could not like Spencer.
Roxy Konkle scene kids all over are sad haha
@@DrummerEvan1 crying black smudged tears haha
that scream has gone out of vogue, because that kind of screaming will fully wreck your throat, you see alot early 2000s bands like this switch to straight up singing after a few albums
"How'd we end up in church!?" Killed me 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This song got me through a lot. This song is sad and deep yet beautiful
“In Regard to Myself” is a masterpiece. DO IT!!!!
While the "They're Only Chasing Safety" album has classic tracks, you NEED to listen to the "Define the Great Line" album start to finish. It is majestic and a masterpiece. It has amazing tracks like Writing on the Walls, Casting a Thin Shadow Shadow, and To Whom it May Concern. It is an amazing album worth a listen on your own time. Truly one of my favorite all time albums.
Define the Great Line literally redefined the way I viewed music back in `05. To Whom it May Concern and Casting Such a Thin Shadow are absolute masterpieces. I literally listen to this every week of my life since it's release and the meter by which I guage all other music. The. Best.
They're only chasing safety also has my favourite album cover, it is so pretty.
Best. Album. Ever! The entirety of it! ❤️
You've got to give them another listen with other songs. This is a tough one to start off with. But, these guys are my favorite.
Underoath has some amazing songs actually give another chance for sure!
Try their song “Reinventing Your Exit”
Writing on the walls !!! Dude
It's not even a question man. The first Underoath song you'd need to listen to is WRITING ON THE WALLS. That's it. Many other great songs, but anyone telling you anything different isn't thinking about it in the right way. Writing On the Walls transcends the screams genre. It's timeless. I still bump it to this day man.
Underoath are KINGPINS of that post hardcore/ screaming music. This is such a classic and still slapssssssssssss
The vocals (not the screaming) come from the drummer which is amazing to be able to both at the same time. Seeing him do it live is unreal!!!
Omg each time I hear underoath it's like the first time, still so gooodddd!
These guys have stood the test of time. Been listening since highschool now I’m about to see them this summer 2023 at 35 years old.
do "in regards to myself" thats the song I would say where Spencer takes it from dry screamo, to great metal vocals.
Underoath-Writing Off the Walls
The drummer, Aaron is the clean vocalist and he is the heart of the band. This is a rare song that the screamer, Spencer, does lead vocals. Imagine drumming that well and singing?!
The band, song and album that start it it all for me when I was 14 in 2004.
Bro Underoath is still to this day one of my favorite bands live. Such a good show!!
You need to do In Regards to Myself, There Could Be Nothing After This, You're Ever So Inviting, Writing On The Walls, Breathing In A New Mentality, A Fault Line; A Fault of Mine, Desperate Times Desperate Measures, and On My Teeth. I think any of these will give you a better perspective on the music. These are the core songs that got me into them. The screaming from They're Only Chasing Safety is kind of primitive compared to the later albums. I love They're Only Chasing Safety but I recommend these other ones for you.
Keep up the reactions my dude!
Wow! Big list! What would you recommend I started with first on my channel!?
If you aren’t into his screaming much you’d probably like Rapture by Underoath more. The new album is less screaming than their previous stuff.
Aaron Gillespie, the drummer, did have his own band where he was the singer called The Almost. Different genre but still pretty awesome
You should try you’re ever so inviting by them. More clean vocals from Aaron , and the screaming is a lower pitch.
Aaron Gillepse is the guy on drums and the clean vocalist on the parts of this song you like. He’s amazing! I agree he kills it every time!
with underoath you really got to listen and appreciate the lyrics...the lyrics to this song are nuts
Fun fact: they actually did use a children's church choir they found a few blocks from where they were practicing
Underoath On My Teeth next vídeo Gibby
I have no idea why people never recommend “some will seek forgiveness, others escape” by Underoath it’s one of their all time underrated songs imo and I think it’s one you would definitely like and it shows their Christian side pretty explicitly
"theyre only chasing safety" is still one of my all time favorite albums
HAHAHAHAHA im a huge underoath fan and this was legit hilarious. you rock man, keep it real as always
I started dying when you said “how we get to church?”😂😂
This entire album is a masterpiece. No skip album. Their best work.
Favorite band of all time! Legends!!!
I noticed you liked when the drummer was singing. He actually had his own band called "The Almost" and hes the singer. I have a feeling that would be more your speed. Its also considered Christian rock
'... how'd we get to church?!?' LOL
Writing on the walls is probably a better one to check from Underoath for sure 👍🏻
Try out some of the material from Lost in the Sound of Seperation or Disambiguation. Spencer takes lead vocals on the latter.
He has evolved greatly with both his screaming and clean vocals. Aaron on drums is always a NASA level robot. Non-human levels of skill.
i know this song from a kid.. loved your reactions... i subbed just for the "HOW WE GET TO CHURCH" part ... crying!!
“How’d we get to church?” 😂 😂 😂
Giddy got one of the strongest beards in the game. Much love man.
"How'd we end up in Church?!" 😂
Give underoath and this song another chance, it'll prob grow on you. Listen to A Boy brushed red, definitely more cleans in that song.
Put some respect on underoath bro, they literally defined 2000-2010 post-hardcore
When the sun sleeps is the best Underoath song no doubt about it
A message from Adrianne from their first album is pure screamo fun
WRITING ON THE WALLS by Underøath !
At the time they were current it was understood that they were onto something. Other bands like as I lay dying and august burns red were molding the genre into what "metalcore" is today. Today is like a utopia for metal
Aaron Gillespie makes gospel music if you're interested. (He's the drummer/clean vovalist)
I got to meet him at my church in Brampton back 2011. Very special moment.
Writing on the walls
This is my absolute favorite breakdown they ever wrote lol
Underoath - a boy brushed in red living in black and white
Something to understand about this group gibby is that they were a soul influence early on in a scene that had very few influences to glean from.
Gotta love me some Underoath! The band of my young years... please do Reinventing Your Exit by these guys if u haven’t done it yet
Little does Gibby know, the drummer not only got a raise, he started his own band!! (The Almost)
showbread-a llama eats a giraffe and vice versa
i loved that band when i was on highschool :D
You should listen to em live and yeah Spencer's vocals early on were focused on their last vocalist so define the great line and newer he really turns it around
As most have said, writing on the walls is the best choice for your next underoath track. The lead singers screams are way more diverse and mature.
You're ever so Inviting is a good song by them.
Lol I love this song, he is so funny lol he said, how'd we get to church.....I'm not drowning .....lol
this was peak 2006.
literally the best of the best
The truth is Spencer was just starting with his vocals he impoved alot in later albums his voice changed and got deeper
Underoath- writing on the walls. If you don’t like the screaming you should react to I’m content with losing. Still has screaming but this song is better
They are technically post hardcore. And you can’t give up on them after this song. Which is one of their best actually. You need to check out In Regards To Myself and Desperate Times, Desperate Measures. You’ll appreciate those more.
Dude sorry but Underoath is OG and this one of the first songs that got me into metalcore at 12. Will always love this band
Check out more of their work, ESPECIALLY something off "Lost in The Sound of Separation". They're Only Chasing Safety is good but that album was the peak of their music IMO.
Oh thank you. I've always felt Lost in the Sound was their absolute best.
Dylan LITSOS is their best album.
Ive spent year listening to this music, and theres a trick. You gotta read the lyrics, and once you know them, you hear it more clear.
Didnt even acknowledge, a-a-Ron doing cleans. Son, I am dissipoint.
Honestly if you want to hear UnderOath at arguably their best, check out anything from their Define the Great Line album. It's considered by many to be one of the best post-hardcore albums of its time, and it still holds up well to this day. I would recommend reacting to Writing on the Walls because not only is it an iconic song, but it's one of UO's most accessible too.
Hell yeah dude
and the drummer has his own band, the almnost, check it out !
How’d we get to church. Lmao.🤣 love it.
Aaron Gillespie is a drum God
spencer tha young god.
Bro they are hands down my favorite band of all time. If I had one band to listen to for the rest of time underoath is it.
First song I ever learned how to scream! 🤘🏻
"How we get to church?"😂😂
Yeah its dangerous walking out your front door nowadays. Stay home guys!
Epic band and epic song.. 🤓😎
If you don't like this album. A song off of the album define the great line or disambiguation
Crazy, front man is one of my fav ever
WRITING ON THE WALLS IS THE ONE WE ALL FELL IN LOVE WITH
Plot twist:you always wanted to scream in a song
Him: the singer right now I don’t really like that.
Me: juuuust wait till the second chorus 😏
You gotta understand my man, this album came after their original singer Dallas Taylor left, and his screams were pretty high pitch. Anything after this album you would enjoy because Spencer's vocals are legit dude.
Underoath is the band that really popularized Christian metalcore I feel youd really dig them in some cases
I keep saying man Writing On The Walls! Lol
LOOOL HE SAID SHHHH
If you give these guys another chance,
Either a boy brushed red living in black and white or anything from define the great line. The screamed vocals are more refined and brutal at the same time so i think youll enjoy them more.
Ahhh high school memories
You have to do in regards to myself like them for soulfull Sunday
Middle school vibes 🖤
