    You've gotta check out Define the Great Line. It's considered by many to be the greatest metalcore album ever made.

      I love Define and Lost, TOCS will always have a special place for me, but there are a few tracks that just get me on the slightly newer stuff.

      Erase me and Voyeurist are incredible albums as well. I don't disagree that Define the Great Line and this album are great but after their hiatus and their growing as indivuals, their material has developed into something fantastic. Hell, they even were nominated for a Grammy for Erase Me. I listen to Voyeurist every week and front to back.

    I was in 5th grade when my friend showed me this record. It was the first I had ever heard like it. I am proud to say I was there in 2004 for this release that many hold as a classic for the genre.

    I was able to go to the opening night of their Rebirth tour (big reunion tour) back in 2016. They played They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line in full.
    Jannus LIve in St. Pete is a really cool place for a show and it was my first chance to see Underoath after listening to them for a decade.
    I will definitely never forget that night.

      they did the same here in Michigan and it was my first time seeing them live. Nothing but 25-35 year olds singing to every song. It was heaven. Just got tickets to see them in Detroit in March - cant wait

    Glad you checked this out man. This is the album that really helped me lean and transition into the Metalcore and core style after previously not enjoying screaming vocals. There is something about the energy, rawness, and melodies in this that I’ll always come back to. Helped me hit many a PR in the gym in high school ha. Keep up the great album reactions dude 👌🏻

    Oh man, glad you decided to keep going after the last album. I can understand how their old stuff might not be for everyone but yeah this is where most people would say Underoath starts the way we know them today (this is also when the current lead vocalist joined). And I also think this was their last truly “post-hardcore” album everything after is more in the “metalcore” subgenre. :D

    If it wasn’t for this album I would’ve never have gotten into this type of music and my life would’ve went in a completely different direction. It’s crazy how little things like music could change your life if you’ve never heard it. My friends, wife, and kids wouldn’t exist if I wouldn’t have gotten into post hardcore and metalcore when I was younger.

    I'm loving watching this now. I rememeber being into Underoath when this record was out. They were spoken of and known as a christian metalcore band.
    They are not. From their own description and categorization they don't want to be, and the content they've created has just been related to their lives and where they were.
    It makes the expression and me interpretation so much stronger;
    I grew up in a non christian family who were free thinkers, but within a fairly strict society. Underoath was like the modern version of Yes in my family, and their music awas groundbreaking in a different way than slipknot, iron maiden and metallica. It was new, different and exciting and they were expressing unconditional love.
    A decade later Underoath spoke about how their hardships of being young and being easily influeced by drugs and the likes flawed them, and they wanted to disconnect with any christian community, cause the christian community couldn't help them sober up and would rather point fingers..
    I'm so in love with Underoath for their genuine human musical creations and ideals which show the human growth through different measures, while always showing the unconditional love for those who try their beast at adapting to the world with love,.

    • @slimefudge
      @slimefudge Год назад +1

      I can not phrase this correctly, but Underoath showed me what unconditional love means, without being a believer - and it's given bounds of unconditional love for them - and for others
