I'm a 25 year Mohawk carpet sales rep. This is a sadly misleading video. Triexta is a PTT as opposed to polyester which is PET. The difference being one molecule (the same difference between nylon and kevlar) That one molecule cause the molecular chain to crimp which improves its ability to rebound. Both are hydrophobic and very stain resistant inherently. Triexta (also known as SmartStrand) is unique in the fact that it has both superior texture retention characteristics and exception stain and soli resistant characteristics. SmartStrand is what I recommend to friends and family and I've never regretted it. It's also in my own home.

If your basement floods and you have that moisture barrier padding, it's not going to dry out. The carpet will be dry everywhere, except where the padding seams are. That's where the water seeps up and leaves an ugly, long yellow water stain in your carpet. Moisture barrier padding is great everywhere but in your basement. If your basement has a water problem, don't put carpet in the basement. Go with a nice vinyl tile, that way, if you do have water, you can just mop it up.

Does the ounces in polyester carpet make a difference in terms of durability at all? Meaning will 60 ounces be more durable than 40? Is 40 ounce triexta better than 60 ounce polyester durability wise
