Thank you for the quality of your content❤️
Thanks for watching it!
Gotta turn that exhaust off, it's not nice to listen to as a viewer either Joe.
What do you think to an M4 as a daily? How efficient are they compared with an M440i for example?
Really enjoying your content fella, thanks.
orange calipers would be so sick, matching the interior. Hope to see alot more videos on the M3 and M2
Love your content, but get a real sports car - Lotus Exige/Elise/Evora
As always, such a classy, detailed, stylish video…with a clear enthusiast’s flair, uniquely “Joe Achilles” which is what we’re here for! Love all the personalised touches you’ve done to this car to make it your own, especially the spacers and the new thinner steering wheel with the 12 o’clock marker in orange. I, too, would code-out the fake exhaust noise!
Thank you very much, very kind words 👊❤️👌
Is the fake noise that distracting?
@@busisanizzulu9267 It's irritating. I coded it out of my X3M but the car was too quiet (OPF's) so put it back on. Don't need the fake noise on non OPF cars (US + Canada).
The car looks awesome Joe,have a great time and keep living the dream!
Cheers man 👊
Just a massive shout out to you for staying true to who you are and legit killing it. Love it dude!
Thanks guys, same to be said for you two 🙌❤️👊
Been watching for ages, glad you got the m3 as it was always the next logical step in my mind for your next car 😂
Thank you ❤️
Thanks for indirectly confirming that the F80 remains the "better" driver's car. I took my 2018 comp to Brands Hatch yesterday and it was epic with the PS4s on. Amazing grip, fantastic feedback & steering and unlimited torque. I'm feeling slightly jealous for the comfort levels of the new one, especially as I will be driving myself and the family Cambridge-Elafonisos(Greece via the Balkans) next month but frankly even in sport plus I feel that the car is comfy enough and I suffer from mild sciatica. The only thing that bothers me a bit in the F80 is the tyre noise on bad tarmac. I will be putting some 3M thinsulate on boot, archwells, floor to begin with and if not enough I might put some on the doors and roof as well. If that doesn't do the trick I will be using 18'' wheels for my winter setup and that should sort it out.
Also have not seen any G80's with extended leather on the dash, I tried the BMW configurator the other day and it seems that if one goes for Carbon seats or the Ultimate Pack then the extended leather is not available! What's that all about? Audi and BMW cheapening out on the leather dash is a bit frustrating on this category I believe as it really uplifts the interior. Anyhoo, enjoy your Euro-trip.
Thanks for the amazing content mate, always a pleasure to watch your no-nonsense videos. First class!
Totally agree with all this. I had to have full merino dash on my F82 as, otherwise, the interior just didn’t feel special enough for a car at this price.
I got used to the noise but, after spending any time in a “normal” car always reset my expectations such that getting back into the F82 then felt very noisy. I hope some sound deadening helps. Regardless, I absolutely loved my M4, it had real character and was a blast to drive (if a little scary in the wet). Still miss it!
the front end looks better in the metal than in those first pictures, great car, even better review - thanks for sharing this - RB
The car looks fire in the thumbnail.
Yeah Adrian nailed the thumbnail 👌
Maybe a lot of the initial press photos were shooting the grille too low and too straight on...cuz slightly elevated angle front 3/4 oh yes....
Great as always mate, just to let you know that this week we had the first good news in 9 months, that my wife’s cancer hasn’t spread and we now move on to the next stage, we still have a long way to go but it was positive, so today i paid the balance on our holiday trip down to st ives so i little road trip for us, in my 335d tourer which i love but just thinking about changing for the 340d 🙏👍
I’ve been following your M3 journey since the beginning as I ordered my M4 Comp about the same time as you ordered the M3. Traded my M2 (which I loved) for this. I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks now and had the 2000 km service done today. One amazing machine. Super super impressive. Love everything about it. Like your steering wheel. I’m thinking about an exhaust too.
What an amazing car. The petrolhead tours always look incredible!
Those open Spanish roads with such a magnificent spec G80 - The dream
One day brother, you would LOVE a Petrolhead Tours trip 🙌
Some of which were portuguese…. Vila do bispo!
You should review your geographie
I remember when you got that m2
Bruv!!!
@@JoeAchilles1 how is the low down torque on the rs4? comparable to m340i or even m340d? thanks
Joe you are so underrated. You deserve far more subscribers and likes.
Such quality journalism, and you can obviously handle yourself around a track. Well done on another entertaining and informative video!
Great insights as always Joe, thanks.
It’s a shame to hear about the lack of guts low down, I would have guessed the S58 would have been MORE ballsy than the B58 but maybe the turbos are too big for quick spool? 🤷🏻♂️
With regards to the ZF8, with the likes of xHP tcu software being so popular, you would have thought bmw M would have just made the stock software more hardcore.
For anyone open to these soft mods, most of the quirks you mention can be resolved, such as the TCU software, coding out the active sound which is off putting and remapping for earlier power delivery. Shame about the steering feel - not so easy to repair 😅🤷🏻♂️
Porsche seems to have figured out how to do EPS, but BMW still struggling 19 years later - been around since 2003 E85 Z4. If they can't get it right in 19 years, isn't it time to go back to hydraulic - at least on the true M cars?
You would think so, think it will only get worse with boring EV's on the horizon
@@JoeAchilles1 the video made me to think to stick with my E91 325i forever. Maybe E90 M3 one day :D
That orange interior - stunning.
Another great watch @joeachilles! Can't wait for your @petrolheadtours full video!
Joe, I’ll take the XDrive Competition. The competition pulls on a base 911 992, but it doesn’t beat it out of the hole. Second, theyve already made 1,080hp and 1,200nm on a stock bottom end S58. Stock turbos on the s58 and a jb4 already netting 650whp. This is going to be the standard for people that want to tune them, especially since the s58 bottom end is completely forged. Including Mahle forged pistons from the factory. We also have to remember that, in America, they don’t run the AWD cars on the rollers for emissions testing. Great review. Your car looks amazing. 🙌🙌
What a quote...
"So the car is talking to my arse" 😂👍
😂🤷🏻♂️🤦
well done misquoting
🤦♀️ indeed for your misquote...

Your new M3 is gorgeous, i’m in love of that
so satisfying when you see a car youtuber who knows what theyre doing on track
I’ve fallen in love with this car saw one in person for the first time yesterday and was Stunned
Brilliant video Joe! I'm impressed you managed to fit this in during your rest day on tour, bravo mate, glad to see you are still loving the car.
Thanks buddy! Yeah Lou and I sat an optional 3 hour afternoon out so I could (rush) film this instead 👊👌
Love the honesty of your review despite the fact you’re a BMW fanboy!
That interior is absolutely stunning!!
Great Review Joe…with great impute & feedback…3.5ks already?…you are not messing about mate…speaks volumes though of how much you are enjoying being behind the wheel!! Good for you!! Can’t wait the tours video…best 19 minutes video for the day👊🏾 Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Hey Joe. Awesome video! Got my M3 Comp in March…it was the first and only one they had in the Washington DC area. Couldn’t pass it up! Love everything about it and wouldn’t trade it for anything! See you in your next video!
The xdrive will be a launch monster!
Waiting for allocation to order mine with xDrive in the US. I’m hearing July 6th but not sure yet 😬
Straight fire, love this spec! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 😊
Great video 👍👍 You just make me wonder if you have script prior to the filming or not. Cuz it feels like you don't but all the points are delivered so smooth and detailed.
Listening to the transmission comments, I have an M2 comp with a DCT and find it great. Under full throttle in sport plus the gear changes snap the car thus the changers are so fast. Most of the time in lazy mode, efficient, it’s smooth except the odd jerk from 4th to 3d.
Joe I love your videos SUGGESTION: please as a matter of course add a googlemaps link to the locations of all your drives: Uk, spain, tracks, wherever. Lots of us who watch your channel are drivers and are always seeking another interesting road. Thanks! Keep up the good work.
Great video as always Joe, and you're right your M3 is a stunner in every aspect.
Nice Video! Driving in my mother country Espana 😉I am waiting for when the M3 wagon is released in AUS... And move on from my original M135i.
To be honest I didn't really like the G80 when it came out but now its really growing on me it looks so much better in person as well
Well done joe,its refreshing to see someone buy a nice car and actually use it and put a few miles on the clock aswell as on the track, basically behaving like a normal person with there dream car,,lots of other "channels" won't mention any names🤭😂 seem to just like showing off what they own,are having done or buying next without ever really driving anything they own!
Hi Joe, loving the content as always. I have the 2021 X3MC (and a pillow until I install the MSS springs 🤣🤣). Now I might be mistaken but I'm sure I've seen in the options menu the ability to turn off the enhanced engine/ exhaust sound BMW pump in through the speakers whilst still being able to use the active sports exhaust.
😂😂😂😂 Legend re the pillow 🙌 Ohh that's interesting, I will have a look into that tomorrow 👌
You can turn off the fake noise in Efficient only - press the exhaust button in the centre console. In Sport and Sport+ fake noise is always on and the exhaust button opens the valves in the exhausts.
Bimmercode allows you to code it out.
Great, honest review as always. Cheers, Joe!
In the U.K. where it rains nearly all year round the X Drive has to be the option to go for, not to mention the increased performance etc, etc. I believe the X Drive will be the one the majority go for. The M5 X Drive is supreme and the M3 X Drive won’t be any different. A bit of a no brainer to be honest.
My Portimao Blue on Kyalami Orange AWD G80 is in the paint booth as you posted this video. I went for AWD to experience something new from BMW ///M and to make sure I don't spin the wheels every time I floor it at 40mph or less. The RWD G80 appears to have good traction with new tires but we've seen videos where it spins more than others depending on conditions, and I'm not talking about wet/rainy days!
Lovely car Joe - I feel jealous. Lol. I bought BMW M140i after watching your videos over 2 years ago. I wish you the best. Keep up the good work.
I don’t like the front end 1 year ago but now I love the front end
Fantastic review Joe. Honest and balanced. Looks stunning over in Spain. Looking forward to the PHT vid dropping 👍
Cheers man, wad the most incredible trip 👌
That track driving was 🔥
Thank you 🙏
When my manual base M3 arrives I’ll be driving it with the sound control off. Pretty certain on that one.
watching all the way from South Africa. the roads and the scenery, you'd think you're in LA or somewhere in South Africa... nice
Sounds like it needs hydraulics in the steering, otherwise good. You may come to appreciate the lack of instant boost come winter.
Great car - great spec - great roads - what more could you want Joe? Well done and keep up with the great channel - thanks!😀👍
Thanks buddy 👊👌❤️
Great video. I disagree with on the gear box but I totally agree on the steering. The steering kind of sucks. BMW is replacing my steering column so I hope that helps.
Really interesting to watch your 2 pence on the car in this tbh! Was amazingly to the ground considering you own one, also nice to see the driving outro is back in true form ;)
Man, Joe’s a stand up guy. Great review mate, keep em coming!!
It does look amazing Joe. I saw a silver version in central London last week, that rear end is cartoon like! 👍
It was fantastic to meet you in person and see the M3 in action… wahey! #bananaskins can’t wait to see the PHT video
Fantastic car Joe and great review. Appreciate how honest you were regarding the steering and gearbox. I haven’t driven one but understand what you mean from my old M140.
No better way to spend 20 mins. Thanks Joe….Lovely M3.
Thank you 🙏
living the dream in an M3!
It's been a great few weeks 👌
Another amazing video Joe. Thank you again.
Cheers Peter! Hope you and the family are well ❤️
Thank you for keeping it real Joe!
@@JoeAchilles1 all good here Joe. Back in lockdown though for a few days. Gives me time to cook and catch up on your videos! Enjoy your time away mate.
Fabulous car, great presentation. Pure class from start to finish 👍🏼
That car is savage!
👌👌👌
@@JoeAchilles1
I communicated with you about my 180hp Ford Focus. That is also the most powerful car I’ve ever owned. Now it’s approaching 3k miles in 10 months it is beginning to show real potential. Every tank achieves over 400 miles now. Not bad for a 3 pot 1.5 litre!
Interesting on the low down torque point I wonder why BMW have tuned it this way? Great content as always, can't wait for the tour video Joe
They always do. They're high revving cars .
It’s nice to finally see BMW Black 🖤 Rims as a stock option ✅!
The M3 and has grown so absurdly large; if I just view it as an M5, then I like it much better.
In love with this spec. The day I buy an M3, I’d get it in this exact same interior and exterior spec. DDCoding offers XHP Gearbox map for BMW ZF’s and they do make a difference. My dads X5 40i gearbox is now so much more aggressive in sports mode thanks to the XHP map
Lucky you. Getting 3500 miles. We have a new X3 30e plug in hybrid with 1500 miles and the check engine light came on. BMW doesn’t even know what wrong with it. They told the dealer to reprogram the vehicle and it may come back later on. This is what we get for leaving Lexus.
Love the honest thoughts Joe. A wonderful car, and seems like a lovely place to rack up the miles... Makes me want to invest in a fun "weekender" to do what the X3 M40i (which I bought based on your review!) can't.
Like that the sunglasses match the interior too 😉
Cheers man, glad to hear you bought an X3 M40i, mega sporty SUV 👌👌👌
Great video and looks like a great road trip. Nice spec on this car Joe, still not loving the front end style or even the rear arches as much as those on the F80.
Hey Joe, are you going to remove the black plastic "arches" on the rear arches?
Your Memoji is the same as mine we must look alike
Why would he?!
I find the Active Sound Design in my M2 to be unnecessary and annoying. I turned it off using Bimmercode as the car does not need it.
Better to be talking to your arse rather than talking out of your arse! 😂
Love the honesty of this review. Too many videos out there where everything is “wow, I own a perfect car”. This is perfectly balanced.
That was a smooth lap, I can't imagine anyone going faster.
“So the cars talking to my arse, but it’s not really talking to my hands much” this is why I watch Joe Achilles, just pure gold 😂
😂😂😂😂🤷🏻♂️🤦👌
love the pictures of the m3 en España, my country!
Recently drove this car on track and comparing to m2c, I agree with your major negative points: to me the car feels grippy, is certainly fun, but I didnt like the lack of torque at lower rpms, slower shifting, front end/grille. But still, with xdrive and in touring, this will make a great all-rounder. For edgy driving m2c will give you better sporty feel.
It's a terrific car! 😍
Nice video.
And why you want a Xdrive. You don't go skiing Joe?
If you would, you know why the Xdrive is a bonus 😉
U can tune the trans completely changes the “smoothness” u just confirmed my purchase for next year.
Love the combined twin vids Spain and Goodwood, looking very good and importantly FAST❗🏎💨⚡
Great to hear thank you 👌
@@JoeAchilles1 ur welcome❗
Another great video as per usual mate. You highlighted exactly the reasons why I couldn’t trade my CS for the G8x. After test driving the G82 a while back, I felt so underwhelmed after coming out of my car. My car feels like a Gokart in comparison and so connected to the road. Let’s see what BMWM have in store for the new M3/M4CS. 😉
Big turbos and mapped to have low boost. Huge turbo lag, but thats exactly one of the main reasons why it puts the power down so well
What a beautiful car, stunning scenery. Very honest review, a car you most obviously love. 👍
Always watch your videos all the way from south africa keep up the good work Joe
Dam, them Spanish road are amazing, where the hell is everyone.
Joe Mr. Michelin is a bit too tight there on the seat belts. Epic Car
He has to be... Joe is pushing
Joe, great video 👌 please add drone shots on your future videos. Would love to see your M3 cruising those roads.
Beautiful car Beautiful
Fantastic Joe. I love your honesty. I do think it looks and sounds great though.👍 Happy motoring 👍
It sounds like you'd rather B road the M2 Comp. It's the better drivers car in almost every way IMO, while the new M3 is a better "put it in D" fast, daily commuter. Shame about the gearbox.
@JoeAchilles Isn't there a gearbox shift ferocity toggle switch (like in all M's) ?
@@sulaymaananverbham1220 There is one, but even when they shift fast they still feel a little torque convertery which is the main issue I think. You notice that torque convertery feeling the most on downshifts compared to the DCT.
Love the number plates. Nice work
Ok but these roads are magical
Great video. Definitely have the active sound coded out!!!
Joe I see you have your Michelin teddy secured in his seat
Haha yes mate, he lasted the entire trip and didn't take his belt off once 😂👌
Waiting for your comparison with an alpina b3! Enjoy your car in good health buddy!
Fantastic review and video as always Joe!
Great video, great roads, great spec, great commentary Joe but I cant get over that grill, such a shame as the normal 3 series is pretty... rest of the car looks great
black weels bt i woud pin strype orange on them to match interior
Beautiful car. Great review. Lovely setting Congrats.
Your Michelin man in the back seat looks comfy :) . @4:37 - Re - tyres. I plan to do similar with my BMW with the Michelin Pilot4 S tyres when I need to replace them. :)
Mate, love it! Absolutely love the interior too! Would like to get your thoughts - If you were to be given children(3kids!) what daily would you have and still enjoy driving? All the best Joe! 💯
My question too!
Great clip Joe. Appreciate your honesty 👍
