My congratulations to Pamela. She is inspiration to females who wish for a career in aviation, especially piloting. However, to those of us born into poverty with physical hardships/handicaps and abusive environments (lack of effective schooling for one), it's quite depressing to think we aren't one of the 'lucky' ones - those naturally born with high intelligence, physical attractiveness, excellent educational opportunities, family support and financial resources to promote and 'explore' our career preferences. One positive is that I have an adult offspring who I put through college (with scholarships), through the military (officer), and is now a professional pilot. If there is a will, there IS a way even if that means years of menial work. What a journey it has been.

Country Girl.....you are right. So much of life is luck of the draw. Being in the right place at the right time. Chance meetings of the right people. Being noticed by the right person. Proven fact that attractive people are noticed in a crowd. It gives them a half step advantage. You have no control as to what type of family you are born into. Hard work doesn't necessarily mean success. Congrats on being a positive influence on your offspring.

So on one of the reply’s from endeavor below, they said she was an FO as an assistant chief, and was immediately upgraded to chief pilot? Some people work YEARS to even be considered for a position like that.... seems like like endeavor was just going for the diversity points here...

To be fair, LGA is a whole different situation for a chief. Most of the captains commute there which makes it difficult to impossible for them to be a chief. Among the rest, most don't want to be a chief. So it's not a huge group to select from, and if the bosses already knew her from being an assistant chief, then it's not such a leap to go FO-CP-CA

LGA is a very junior base, so pilots usually get upgraded faster there.

Good for you! If anyone has any confidence at all about something they believe in, just go do it and let it be done. And please, don’t worry about what other’s may think about your goals!
