Quick run through of tuning up a Stihl MS271 farm boss. This is my first video ever recording and editing, feed back is very welcome to improve future videos.
If you use a stiff piece of wire with a hook on the end to pull the fuel filter you will lessen the chances of damaging the fuel line. Pulling the sprocket is easy and lubing the spindle bearing cage should be part of any routine maintenance.
Pulled my MS471 out after sitting all winter. The starting cord was really hard to pull. Took out spark plug and engine turned over easily. Took it to service and they sail it's ok to pull the starting cord hard. Still wont go so bought the tune up kit, sprayed that carburetor cleaner into cylinder and into carburetor. So will let it sit overnight and see what happens tomorrow.
Ali is correct, chain too taut. Also, old timer taught us to dunk new chain or newly sharp clean chain in winter bar oil over night. Sure slows chain stretch on new chain.
I buy the Stihl pre-mix. Tools get used time to time and it saves the hassle of mixing oil and gas, which if it isn't used, sits all winter long and goes bad.
great video, I'd only add that greasing the spindle bearing under the clutch cover is very important during annual tune ups. Thanks
Nice video! However, I would have turned the bar over when installing the new chain. Keeps the bar from wearing out.
Very well done. Great tutorial. No bs.
great video and great tunes 🎵
Excellent video! Great job.
Thanks. That pricked my memory and it's time for a tune up.
Good job, thanks for keeping it simple and showing everything from beginning to end!

At this point in time I'd rather listen to your rooster than that 90s grunge station.
Really good demo. Nicely done.
Awesome video, never really understood how those carby adjustments worked.. Make it much easier now!
Thank you! Save a lot money doing it yourself
Well done. thanks

Thanks for this video, very informative. Do you run rec fuel in your saw?

I use 91 octane and stihl premium oil. I go through alot of fuel so I just mix my own
I got the same saw and I’m going to open the muffler a bit, when I tune it to make it less lean, would that be the H or L adjustment
I believe that would be more of a H adjustment but u will probably have to tweak both

Doesn't even look like you've cut but 1 tree up with that thing....still new out of the box looking.
this saw is about 5 years old now I think, just well taken care of.
Size of bar ?
18 on bar
When you buy this saw from a dealer it comes with a 20in unless you specially order a 18
Not called a blade its called a chain 😂just saying
