Are Toyota Highlanders good for off-road?

- I had Toyota Highlander 2017 with 2" lift kit and BFG KO2 tires.
I was trying to use it for off roading but it is not that good as 4runner.
So, I sold highlander and bought 4runner 2011 and upgrade it a little bit.
please see this video let me know what do you think
Some advice, traction control off, deflate your tires to about 15-20 PSI and (starting at 3:42) Einstein with Crocks on, Mr One Hand pushing from behind. really? Glad you were there, wow you provided SO MUCH HELP! Almost busted your butt and got backed over. Common sense please??
Great video, she did good. In one reply you mention using the diff lock, and i had no idea Highlanders came w diff locks. Thats good to know as that is crucial to successful offroad duties where i live in Colorado.
Pretty wild track for that. Nice to see someone pushing it's limits, just wish there was more of its sound in the vid.
i realize I am kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream new movies online?
@Diego Tristen try FlixZone. Just google for it :)
@Diego Tristen I would suggest FlixZone. Just google for it :)
@Diego Tristen Try Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
That's awesome! I've taken my 2019 Highlander Limited AWD off-roading plenty of times and it has conquered everything I've put it through! Your video shows me that if mine was lifted and had off-roading tires that I could go overlanding without any real concerns. 🙂
@Escape Velocity Believe it or not, I still have the stock street tires on it! They're just Toyo Open Country A20 tires, but they actually perform really well with everything I've used them in. I've used them in 4-5 inch thick mud, snow, shallow sand, loose dirt & rocks, and I've never been stuck.
Nicely done!
Great video. Thanks
Awesome setup
Pretty cool man
There doesn’t appear to be any suspension modifications. I’ve never seen set of wheels and tires like that on A Highlander before. The fact that it’s even on the same trail as a 4 Runner or a Jeep says a lot for the Highlander. Especially an older model without the locking differentials.
I believe the biggest limitation is the clearance.I have a 2019 highlander and it has center locking differential.
Need a build sheet! This Highlander is super nice!
Looks fun. Nice video.. The lift kit is nice for the higher ground clearance, but I think it hindered how the Highlander handle on that trail. Not enough flex and the it seems like 1 tire was always off the ground loosing traction. I would probably never take mines on the type of trail you went on lol. The most I done was some fire roads and slight terrain like that...but it's good to see what the Highlander can handle :)
Great video, actually watching this stopped me to install lift kit and putting big A/T tyres on my Highlander/Kluger. "Kluga" is almost perfect how it is for light off road and long trips ✨️
Great mate.. you in W.A.? Where you get lift kit done?
@@Steve-pr6yj no lift kit on mine, just slightly bigger tyres 255/60/18. Yeah mate from WA.
@@weekendinwa. cheers…how they handle and what about road noise? Mine’s a 2013 and I installed Kings Springs ..lifted it 30mm.. but would also like to go up in tyres👍🏼
@@Steve-pr6yj my tyres is Toyos A25, no road noise and no difference in handling, just speedo more accurate now.
Thanks.. mine’s a Grande so I’d have to drop rim size to 18” from 19” if I want bigger OD🤔
Sweet ride, bro! Did you have to do any trimmings/shavings to make the tires/wheels fit?
the highlerand is designed to be a highway cruiser. but this is impressive for what a 4runner is ment for
I have a 2019 SE Blackshade, and I didn't think from my purchase that it would be trail go getter. It's meant to be a cross-over SUV and for moderate terrain, not for climbing over rock and crazy stuff.
I just put a 1.5" ADF kit on a 2012 highlander 4wd, with Bilstein's and skid plate.. I know its not a 4runnner, but its impressive how you can mod the Highlander into a much better offroad setup.
How's it doing out there? 🍻🇺🇲

Its been good, maybe 10+ 4x4 camp trips so far. Some pretty hairy stuff I should not have attempted, but live and learn. Next thing is to switch from the stock 245/65/17 tires to the larger 265/70/17 tires. 2 inches more diameter, 0.8 inches wider. They should fit according to Dirt Travel Adventures channel and my measurements. The larger tires should look much better with the lift than the stock size.
wow.. didn't know how capable the highlander is off road. did you have any skid plates underneath the highlander?
Not sure if traction control was on but needs to be off when having it on all wheel drive
In some of the cases it was off. After turn off vehicle it's auto on.
Nice video. What size are those tires?
Thaks for show us how is that car
Hey pretty good for what it is.
I have a 05 highlander and this gives me a panic attack lol! 🙃 nice model though! 👌
What lift kit did you install? How has it held up?
What size wheels or tires are these on your Highlander? Thanks!
Nice driving. Did you engage the AWD lock? Was the traction control off?
Yes diff lock was on and traction control off.
Just got this same one and i am definitely excited to take it off the road. Tho honestly, 3" seems like a bit much. I was thinking 1.5". Also, you almost cant compare any SUV with a 4Runner. That just makes it unfair for any make and model.
did your doors all close straight after this?
How's protection underneath?
lol you got stuck.
but thanks for showing us.
Yes it is good for off-road because my dad have that Toyota Highlander and I drive in Offroad with him
Has your Highlander been sold yet? Highlander can also go light off-road, but there are few modified parts of Highlander on the market.
I sold it
Wheel and tire specs? Also what lift is used?

Just in time to get groceries in the Konus region. I suppose... :)
What size are your rims and tires if i may ask and nice vid 👍🏽

@@NickYaroshenko thanks
This generation is not as good off road. First and second generation Highlanders with 50-50 awd do much better than these later 2014+ models which have a much less capable on demand awd. Earlier models are always locked 50/50.
What is the tire size?
ko2 255/70/17.
do they have 4 low?
no they don't. they have only central lock which spread power 50/50 front and rear
Is it rwd?
This is AWD
Where's this at?
Gold Lake, CA
What kind of wheels and set up are those

@@NickYaroshenko is the original suspension?
@@Cruz0604 yes, but I add 2” spacers at the front and 1.5” at rear.
Hi Nick! Can you send the link of the spacers? How was it?
@@coybijo8347 I’m not big fan of spacer. It was easy to install, but it fills like I need better suspension (shocks)
Light off road only
Any car can go off road. All about the angle
Where are the soccer moms?
The suspension sucks, there’s not travel at all!
With the gas prices almost $5 a gallon. Nobody really cares about 4wheeling right now!
@The Real VR not all of us is richer than you! ✌🏼
Зачем беговую трассовою машину на бездорожье насиловать
