Whether in a favorite corner of the garden or under a big shade tree, this solid outdoor bench will complement any landscape.
Straight lines and gentle curves give this solid bench a style that will bring beauty and simplicity to any outdoor space. The joinery for this bench is easy: a few tapers, angles and a straightforward joint in the legs make this an easy bench to build. And a rubbed oil finish protects the bench from the elements for years of outdoor enjoyment.

I'm glad you're doing these longer videos.
Thanks! We will keep them coming.
Nice job guys! While I most likely would not build this project, the bevel gauge usage shown was invaluable. I never once considered using that tool to transfer angles to a table saw. I have always measured out my angles. It's so obvious yet I didn't think of it.
Yeah, I find even in the projects I don’t really care for I can still find a tip or technique I can apply someplace else.
As I'm not a nail and screw kind of person I really like this I may go with something similar on some live edge benches I have on the plate after my house is finished. Sweet bench.
Thanks!

Love the project...I’m going to make it using walnut. 👍 well done. Thanks
Thanks! This would look amazing in walnut.
Missed your videos guys. So happy to see a new one, great project with those false tennons
Thanks so much!
Love the tricks of the trade . Nicely done
Thanks!
My grandpa used to watch woodsmith shop all the time I forgot about it until a few minutes ago lol
Hopefully, it brought back some good memories. 😀
genial, uma aula de técnicas para nosso aprendizado, parabéns
Great video and project. Instead of using the dowel centre pins and then having to get the angle of the hole in the leg correct. Would it be possible to use the stretcher as a guide and just drill through the holes in it?
Mark Whyte yes and drill the holes BEFORE cutting the long side angle.
Absolutely, that should work too.
The connection of the bench seat to the legs with 'long' screws is flimsy and won't hold up to use. You should have used a steel connector. Simpson has the outdoor accent line which has lots of different 90 degree angle ties.
Made 2 of these out of purple heart
Wow! I bet they look amazing!
What model of table saw are you using?
I believe that is the Powermatic PM2000B.
What kind o wood is that? Looks like Oak..
Yes, we built our bench out of white oak. It does pretty well in the elements outdoors.
Nice work, but you lost me with the screws to attach the top.
Sorry about... It seems like an after thought in this design, doesn't it?
False tenons are no bueno! Do the work and get the strength of the real thing!
I would have liked to see this as well. Maybe they could do another video showing that as an option.
I know it feels like cheating, right? We try to cater to woodworkers of all different skill levels and abilities, so we like to show lots of different methods to accomplish the same end result. We’ll do the “real thing” next time. 👍
