I know this video is a year old. Just wondering how it hold up, for you, after some time has passed. Is there something else I should be looking at? Right now, this seems like the ultimate winner for what I'm hoping for. Thanks in advance.
Nice video. I would suggest taking out the divider. It adds a bit more room. Owned one about 15 years ago, solid bag. If you need more room for disc's you can always use a side pockets.
This was the review I was waiting for. Sealed the deal. I popped on this bag a week after seeing this review and stewing over the purchase. After purchasing the bag it was everything I expected and more. Great quality, great review, thank you Doth. Keep it up.
Hey Doth...I have the revolution mini which I love for a smaller bag except for one thing...the squeaky shoulder strap. Do you use the quads for the mini as well or have you addressed the squeaking in a different way?
Own both, love both, honestly can say my pound gets less back time with each of these. I’ve actually used the pound insulated inserts in each side pocket which have doubled great as an organizer/divider for my wallet, phones, etc. clearly are winners for cans as well.
I have one that's around fifteen years old. I recently swapped it for a backpack style bag, but not for any real reason. The most amazing thing about it is that it's completely undamaged and unworn after all this time. It's dirty, but there are no frays or cuts or tears or anything at all. It's like a brand new bag still
They last forever. I've taken the frame out of mine and run it through the washing machine a few times. Comes out clean and undamaged. A bit of a fight getting the stiffener panels in and out but, doable. You can also just leave em in and pressure wash it. Just dry it in the shade not the direct sun (like any polyester/denier fabric). I have a pound Carlton I love but, I still carry the Carolina once in a while. Great bag.
@@99knight99 I haven't washed mine because I wasn't sure the best way would be. Right now I just use it occasionally when I throw a small course and only want to take a handful of discs. It's still an excellent bag.
There is another pocket not mentioned, there is a pocket in the bag on one of the sides, I use that to hold my wallet. Its a bit hidden but I find it useful for things I don’t plan on accessing.
I have double and triple checked the bag and had a friend look it over to make sure I've not missed something. I think you are likely referring to an older version of the bag. My new version of the Carolina does not have any extra pocket.
@@DothSavek interesting I just bought mine but a different color (red/black straps). I have a pocket in the section where discs are held, it has a flap with elastic and is great for items you don’t plan on taking out while throwing.
I’m using the revolution pro bag. Basically same as the Carolina but with one bottle holder and square putter pocket. I’ve played half a dozen rounds with it. Was a new old stock never used. Been thinking about upgrading but honestly this bag is way more than I’ll ever need.
I looked a bit and only found a few pictures out there for the Pro Bag from an old forum post. Looks interesting. Seemed like maybe a bit smaller than the Carolina? Looks like a cool one. Did it come with a harness or a single strap? Have you been using it with the roll cage in?
@@DothSavek it came with a shoulder strap, and no insert. I added a 4 point harness, and a new roll cage from gotta go throw. The roll cage for the Carolina fits perfect. I’m carrying 16 in the main compartment. Two putters up front. And two extra putters in the right pocket. It’s the blue and black two tone colors. Someone found it in a storage locker. It had been in a storage container new with tags for years.
@@DothSavek honestly I haven’t tried it without but will. Will the cage It feels like carrying a plastic cooler on my back lol. Just a square chunk. Will be much more comfortable without. This is my starting bag. I didn’t have a lot of disc to fill it now I do. I did however put a layer of cardboard in the bottom. Was told without it eventually the roll cage will create hotspots and wear in the corners. Going to try it with cardboard and no cage.
Got this bag after you recommended it on Reddit. Amazing bag. Quality of the bag is top notch (material, zippers and clips). Organization and pocket sizes are perfect (the phone pocket is the perfect size). Low key best part of the bag are the two handle loops to the outside of the main opening. Use this to move my bag in-between shots on a hole or taking it in/out of my car. Only modification I wish they would make would be to add 4-5 plastic feet on the bottom of the bag. That should honestly be a standard for all bags so that the bottom doesn't wear as fast. Other than that it's a perfect bag. You will forget about the price tag after using it. For the quality and ease of use, best bag I've owned.
I have a Voodoo Karma that is probably the closest comparison to this. Would be interested to hear your review on that one Doth. They're discontinued so maybe a little less relevant
Got one of these used this year due in no small part to this review. I couldn’t justify the $229 price tag, but $155 for a gently used one was perfect. If you have the extra scratch, I definitely encourage anyone to buy this bag, and doubly so if you can find a used one!
I'm 99% sure GGGT also bought all the old molds from Lightning Disc Golf to possible start making them again. They bought all the leftover old stock from Lightning, and my girlfriend bought all the remaining lightning Glow Prostyle D-1's (13) and (6) of the Glow base plastic (D-1's) can't remember what the base plastic is called maybe Nike if l remember correctly. And don't quote me on this, but I have a feeling they also bought the optimizer mold from little flyer way back. Which is hands-down the best low-power beginner disc made (For Hyzer flipping with an arm speed of 20 mph)😁. ✌ thanks for the review👍!
I played in that same tournament! I thought I recognized you there but I wasn't 100% sure. Maybe I'll see you on the course or at another tourney, I'll say hi next time!
Please do! A few people at that tournament came up and did say they had seen my videos. Pretty crazy to move 1400 miles but find that im still not without friends. I'm lucky so many people watch my videos. I will look out for a dude carrying a sax and I will know its you.
@@brian6speed sweet thanks. Not sure if I’m sold on the non backpack but will check it out. I have an old small prodigy that I’ve modified some. I play some 72 hole days that I cover a lot of ground so comfort is paramount.
The Revolution Deluxe Mini and the Fossa Skinny 2 are probably the bags that keep me feeling the most nimble and quick. The Skinny is best when not fully loaded with discs, and that is why I include it with the Deluxe Mini which forces you to carry less discs than the big bags. The other thing to consider if you play lots of days per year is considering what your bad weather days are like. When it gets into the winter I generally carry an extra thermal shirt/sweatshirt/light jacket, and Im often already wearing another layer that I might take off depending on if the sun comes out or the wind stops ect. This means I might end up having 2 layers that I want in the bag mid round, add in some big comfy gloves, and suddenly I need a lot of storage space. For those big storage days the Octohaul is the clear winner for me. Again I might block out part of the main disc compartment to store one of those layers to help stop the disc creep of having a super heavy bag.
@@DothSavek winter exactly. I play in the northeast year round. Just got into the Grip CX1. Seems like the perfect combination of storage size etc. any plans on reviewing it?
Too bad that quad shocks destroy your back. Im proof. I have a 7 cm difference in my back and i carried quads for 15 years. Do not use shoulder straps if u want your back
@H K The way that the straps attach to the bag vs a backpack is different than a backpack style bag. Doth alluded to that when he talked about how the straps feel different on his shoulders than he is accustomed to. The anchor point of the bag to the top of the shoulder strap is much lower and much farther away from the user's center of gravity. This is going to make the user feel more of the weight of the bag away from their spine, which is a greater strain on the body. You can't really say that there is no way that this is different because it obviously is different. There is a reason why well made backpacks for hiking have mechanisms to cinch the load close to the body. It is because is is less strain on the body that way..
