Love this bag I'm and thinking I'll pick one up since I just got back into disc. I harbor a different opinion about the zippers. Personally, I like when vertical/slash zippers on bags and pockets zip down. As zippers wear, they tend to loosen. If aged and worn zippers zip up, they then tend to fall with gravity. I have a couple hoodies that have zippers that refuse to stay up due to their age. I like the idea that even if the zipper ages, it can't open up if it is zipped down. I get that my small sampling of zippers falling on their own over time is not indicative to the norm, so to each their own. This bag is awesome and I'd be damn happy if I used and abused it long enough for the zippers to start falling.
Here a year later and just got the new Combat Commander. The zippers are flipped so it looks like Dynamic listened! Love the bag, it’s exactly what I was looking for size/storage wise!

As it is I step on my towel and end up ripping it. It also prevents putting putting valuables in those pockets while also using it for other things. As you have said it is a simple fix. The Combat Commander is coming out soon, maybe they will change the zippers!

Cool you used my tape measure suggestion in the video! trust me once you actually get a disc stuck in a tree and you have the tape measure you will be glad you had it :)
UPDATE: I bought a combat commander bag a month ago and the zippers are flipped the correct way, so your skittles are safe!!!😂 I think it's a great bag! Lots of storage and I can easily get to the discs on each end!
I have wanted to take my divider out hundreds of times to get rid of that awkward bundle the cover makes, but I think that the divider is inadvertently adding structure to the front of the bag and im worried that it will lose shape over time! That being said, this bag is worth more than it's cost. I bought it as a entry+ level cost of bag, always planning to upgrade. I cannot find any reason whatsoever to change this bag. I don't know if there is a single hint of wear and tear. And I use this bag 3+ times a week. No strap fraying, no zipper binding, nothing. Apart from the back panel starting to warp where the putter pocket pulls from either point, it is perfect. And the open disc area, I'm not sure I could ever go to another design.
I have the new DD Combat Commander. It has a squishy pad for the top of the back and the lower back. The straps are also more padded and squishy for more comfortability. Overall the bag is amazing and handles all my disc golf needs. Thank you for the great review and I will tune in next time!

Hilarious...When you bring up the zipper at first, thoughts were "dude, irrelevant..." but after you mention those few things it would make a difference with I was like "yeah DD, change this"...thanks for the review, bought the commander last week and stoked about it...except for the zipper of course.
yes with the zipper starting at the top would be great to hold my disc retriever while still using that pocket for storage and not sacrificing the second bottle holder with the strap above it
Not sure if this was a recent change or not, but I just ordered a DD Commander and the zipper is the opposite direction now. It opens from the top down. I love it.
My only thoughts are on the zipper. I get your reasoning for the wanting them to go down, but i have other bags that have them going down, and they tend to work themselves open when hiking or walking a lot. I actually just got one of these, so i may change my mind. But just a thought. Great review!

You are right about the zippers on this bag. I use the commander as my main bag and it drives me nuts. I now only use the side compartments for my rain jacket or a disc I'm testing.
Good news, the Combat Commander version has a few upgrades including the zippers that zip UP now. Just purchased one and can confirm that is the case..
I agree with the zippers I never fully open a bag with zipper unless I need it fully opened, on my ax4 Ill open it a little at the top to reach in. If I had to fully unzip it every time to just reach in from the top, I would start to get tilted
The paratrooper I have putter compartment has folded in that I can’t take discs out. It’s so frustrating. I have since moved on to a Fossa Skinny 2.3 and can’t wait.
The number of times I've wished that zipper direction was swapped is immeasurable. I'm glad someone formally reviewed and described it! The commander has been my first DG bag and it doesn't have quite all the same features as that one such as the cup holder is designed without the "squeeze" at the top, but the shoulder straps are starting to wear, to a point where I've rubbed all of the foam out of existence from friction. I've been hoping to upgrade to a similar bag with adequate storage and found your channel. Thanks for all of the reviews, I do enjoy the solid bottom feet so I've been leaning towards a Grip bag... any thoughts? I've also gotta say storage is more important than solid bottom though.. so.... ahh choices!
Loved this review it’s a bag that almost does it for me. Trying to upgrade from my adventure bag and it’s seemingly coming down to this, the combat sniper, and the latitude 64 core pro. I love this bag but now those zippers are bugging me haha
That skittles thing was very well executed haha well done. I just got this bag last week! I got it for the main compartment design. Provides really easy access which I like. Iv played about 5 rounds with it. All 5 without the middle velcro tab. I do wish the zippers went top-down apposed to bottom-up so I could fit all my skittles. I have a key chain bottle opener and it hits the ground a lot. That wouldn't be an issue if the zipper was Top-down. But oh well. Overall love the bag so far. I give it about an 8.5 out of 10. Definitely room for improvements but works great for me. Great review, enjoyed the humor involved and honest feedback. #TasteTheRainbow

I thought I liked rhe cooler version better at first, but now I think this version is better. The lower cut front is nice. The putter sleeve area is better with 2 instead of 3 sleeves, and if you want a cooler you can add a 6 pack cooler in yourself
@@DothSavek Thats what I suspected. I'm looking at this, the BP1 and the GripAx4. I got a Zuca EZ cart so can throw coolers in the bottom. Keep up the great reviews!
That was good. Adding some extra adhesive velcro strips is super easy if you want to adjust the divider with more variation. I like leaving some space in the main compartment for misc things.
Great review and I am glad you liked this bag :D I have also tried a whole bunch of bags and this is without doubt one of my favs! Mostly because of how easy it is getting discs in and out of the main. Not many bags have that. You didnt have the rain-fly im guessing? Its actually one of the more functional ones i have used and its pretty cheap aswell :) And good to have with the open design. I never know if i want my main bag to be this design, or a bag with loads of putters up top, like the combat ranger for example :) I usually end up coming back to the Commander though :D And for the price it is hard to beat.

disclaimer: i am relatively new to disc golf and this was my first bag. it did not last as long as i would have liked (probably barely over a year). one of smaller side pockets stitching tore which caused zipper to slide off (after about half a year). smaller pockets should have double zipper and big pocket zippers should 100% be reversed (or doubled). the zipper issue a total pain and is by no means an understatement. just bought a prodigy bp1-v3 for price and storage capacity. chosen mainly for storage capacity b/c as previously stated, I am new(-ish) to sport and carry more discs than needed (...b/c i do not know what i am doing on at least a third of my throws). 2nd disclaimer: no financial incentive twd prodigy. just went cheaper b/c maybe i am just really crappy at taking care of things.
The BP-1 v3 is an awesome choice. you get a whole lot of bag for your money. It might not last you much longer than the Commander did, but for the price its hard to expect more than a year or 2. Thanks for sharing your experience
bp-1 has more storage for discs and other gear. Commander is much more firm and upright with cleaner lines and better vision of discs. I think I like the Commander better for its streamlined layout, but if you really want maximum capacity than the BP-1 is the winner
