If everyone got this one lesson on *_certainty,_* the world would be immensely better. To quote from one of my own books, *_"A funny thing happens when a person reaches certainty: They stop looking."_* And since none of us are omniscient, we miss out on a great many discoveries.

When I saw the title in the e-mail directing me to this video, I thought you were going to talk about Harrison Butker.
In medicine, certainty kills. We call it "diagnostic anchoring"--if you think you have the diagnosis and other symptoms that do not fit with it arise, there can be a temptation to minimize those new findings instead of rethinking through the initial reasoning to come to a more appropriate conclusion and help your patient heal.
If you start with a system that has any unprotected speech, then I am justified in unprotecting just one more word, just one more sentence, just one more book, just one more person.
