This is the most relatable aquarium content I've ever seen. Would love to see how the cherry shrimp colony does, I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself.
the cherry shrimp wont do much to the algae, try getting amano shrimp instead and test your water/use a good conditioner during water change. Especially use a substrate layer that's 2x as thick as you have now at minimum and your tank will be much better with much less algae 100%
i use amano shrimp or yamato shrimp. superb nice clean.. 😂
