The entire reason for having separate criminal charges for kids, is that it is scientifically proven that children are less competent than adults. Having a child in prison with an adult population of hardened criminals is outrageous. Also, I don't understand the point of the government not having a special hiring program for ppl with criminal records and expunging their criminal records after 7 years (that's done in Canada). If ppl can't get jobs how can they refrain from criminal activities to support themselves. The system is set up to continue the cycle of crime and punishment to fund the prison industrial complex.
