4 - 23 - 2012...Recording with my Zoom Q3HD Video/Audio Recorder... Solo with my new Meinl Slap Top Cajon / Percussion (^; What i do to relax....... (^;
I own the same cajon and noticed you have it a snare stand. Did you have to modify it to get it to fit? I'd like to try the same thing and play it standing up for certain gigs. Awesome playing by the way!
Tama Snare stand sir, and i just tightened it against the sides of the Cajon so it wouldn't move too much and it works..... I have many different Cajons set ups as my videos of our Trio Mellow Chaos Trio shows ! Have a Superb tomorrow sir !
You have rock solid time, and really have clean inside beats and some great polyrhythms going on here my friend. I'm working up a solo act with a looper and plan to use this with a snare stand in the same way. A much better posture, especially if you're singing lead and want to have eye contact with your audience.
Question for you sir. I found your channel because I was looking at cajon drum kit setups and I'm glad I did. Even though you have this and a setup like a traditional kit. In your trio videos. Mellow Chaos you are playing a regular cajon. This looks easier on the back. It appears in the videos in question you play a traditional cajon leaned back. Just wondering why you choose that setup?
Leaning the Cajon backwards enables me to play top, bottom and all sides of Cajon for different tones, plus easier on the back too (^: ! i have the Meinl Bongo Cajon, Meinl Bass Cajon, Meinl American Ash Cajon, Meinl Cafe Cajon, Plus the Meinl Trejon, also i have the Octo Snare Cajon from LP ! In a Trio called Mellow Chaos as you said Uncle Dan..
It's definitely a quality control thing. I have two of these. The mid range sound on the right side is good on both. The drum I got last month has an excellent snare sound, just perfect, but the bass is kinda weak. I received the second drum today. On this one, there is hardly any snare sound, and playing the snare side produces a weird echo. But the bass is stronger. I thought of sending this second one back, but I have no idea what its replacement would be like. Frustrating.
I bought one of these and I must say I am disappointed in the snare section response. It sounds nothing like this demo, I;m returning it. The bass and open side tones were fine.

What kind of drum stand are you using, and where can I get one? Thanks!
