    In the second part of my Mavalli Tiffin Rooms morning with the inimitable Rocky Singh, we touch upon some important aspects of food that we take for granted especially at legacy eateries. We speak of the change in culinary ingredients, the fact that food preparations too have their own unique personalities, the effort it takes to preserve traditions and also discuss Rocky’s love for the dosae and bisi bele bath amongst other interesting things.

    Super conversation at the legendary MTR which is one of my favourites from 1970 to till date ...The best part is the Q&A interaction...and as usual Rocky rocks with his spot on assessment regarding the old hotels not able to maintain the taste of same old days and changing tastes of the people Kripal chips in for both his probing questions and also his answers and assesments .... Overall one of the best episodes....Hats off boys ...

    I might have been related to the Southern part of India in my past life as my love for South Indian food knows no boundaries.
    My friends are fed up of my habit of looking for an idli or dosa, whenever we go for a buffet meal anywhere.
    Kripal sir is like a guru when it comes to South Indian food specifically from Karnataka whereas i have grown up watching Rocky and Mayur for years throughout different shows and they are still rocking. I miss Mayur though but good that Rocky gets to eat all the non veg food he can, without feeling bad about Mayur not being able to find a proper veg meal to munch on.
    I can eat a dosa everyday for my whole life and still not feel bored out of it.
    Ahh.. i am craving for some hot and crispy butter masala dosas now.
    Anyone over here can tell me something about Bisi Bele Bhaat?
    It looks amazing with that ghee served alongwith it. Is it similar to a khichdi or the preparation is different??

    • @pavanrajrp
      @pavanrajrp Год назад

      Appreciate your love for South Indian foods....so basically bisibele is a Kannada word "bisi "means hot , "bele" means split daal...it taste little different from kichdi as we add local Masala recipe and asofoetida into it...MTR ready Masala mix is available everywhere you can try out with yourself and you are most welcome to Bangalore...

    Just started watching this video, but watched the entire previous one, and I can't agree more with what the both of you have said, as an Indian living abroad, I really miss the Indian food, be it those from the streets or from classic restaurants around the country, you've put it very aptly that food connects us all, and I can certainly say that for us Indians, you go from the north, to the south and you can see that no state has a similarity in its food, it's very diverse... Gonna watch this one now with some bisi-bisi, Bisi Bele Baath! Keep up the great work, Kripal & Rocky!

    7:18 that’s true, I believe our taste buds have devolved thanks to the reasons Rocky mentioned and inflation has pushed up the prices. 100 rupees for a masale at MTR and 80 at Vidyarthi Bhavan is not worth. The alternative? Cubbonpete tiffin room behind BASE near ashrama, SSP eating house near Wilson Garden.

    For a moment it felt like there's round table competition on-going between Kripal - Rocky. Who has the upper grip on foodology ! Both trying their arsenal on each other. This is what happen when intellectual rights reserved battle begins. You made Rocky do something that's your USP for which people watch you. But, Rocky wasn't upto the expectations 5/10 for doing your patent label. But, 10/10 for trying hard to meet the level. Its very hard to get gel with two different food tellers. One is express free flow and other is Maharaja style delivery. But enjoyed this in much anticipation. Job well done 😍🤩

    I have a slight complaint with both of you. You talk about respecting food, but u (& Most food reviewers) tend to over simply or take vegetarian food for granted as though its easy to prepare. I have seen Kripal often call a vegetarian dish good "because the ghee saves it" or something similar.
    FYI, sometimes even an Idli is bit more difficult to make than an Omlette. Please give more respect to vegeratian cuisine even if it sounds basic.
