I remember in the late 90s/early 00s, Season 3 fan projects were all the rage. So it's amazing to see one actually succeed all these years later, and to so perfectly capture the show's aesthetic and feel... fantastic work, all of ya! I can't wait to see it, I couldn't stop smiling if I tried, and I'd like to think you've made Ben Hurst proud.

Kinda like 'Another' Metroid 2 Remake making to completion and legitimately being one of the greatest games ever in its own right.

Agreed! I was on practically EVERY Sonic fan site during that era. No matter what the opinion was of the new Dreamcast games, we could all agree on several things: NiGHTS is awesome, Sonic CD needs a re-release, and Satam needs a third season. Ah, simpler times.

@@Coder_shark It was green lit by Sega, and created by the developers who made the mobile device Retro Engine remakes of STH /CD/2.
The Retro Engine is not emulation. It is what it sounds like: A modern programmed game engine, made to mimic the in-game functionality of the original STH 1/CD/2/3/&K game engines. This is actually why the Sonic Origins game has some awkward inconsistencies in the gameplay of the titles included. The actual, original Sega titles, Sonic The Hedgehog, CD, 2, 3, &K have similar in-game engines, though each game has slight changes to the engine. Sonic Origins uses the same engine for all 4 titles, creating those previously mentioned inconsistencies.
Sonic SATAM is part of my childhood! I watched it when I was 4, and rewatched it when I was 9. After all these years, the intro has never left my head! Too catchy and good.
The art and visuals in this animation is fresh and amazing!!!!!! Literally looks like how a 2000s Sonic SATAM reboot would look like.
The show itself has always been a childhood favorite, along with Sonic Underground and Sonic X (with THEIR intros being catchy and never exiting my head after so long as well)
As someone who only found that these sonic characters existed back in January. Now watching SatAM and reading Archie in its entirety. Just want to thank you guys for what you've done up to this point. The time, effort and passion you've put into this project is insane

So many kids pass it up for Sonic X. It's a real shame. SatAM deserved a blu ray release before Sonic X. Goddang travesty.
@@adamdenardis5438 I can see why, it has the video game characters (From 2003) and it is entertaining no doubt. SatAM just does everything really really well, balances it all and the theme of taking back the world from an actual threat was great with Sonic's cocky nature. He balanced ego with emotions, thanks to Sally as well. Archie had plenty of "what?" Moments, but we love it and it lasted for 25 years because of it

Great work. Honestly, this brought back childhood memories. The only feedback I'd give is it looks a bit too "clean." Needs more grit, dirt, rust. Remember, SatAM was notable for being darker and serious than other Sonic animated series. A grim despairing atmosphere in a metallic metropolis.
A touch of BTAS might help that.
They need a grain filter tbh
The animation is being done with modern technology, whereas the original was mostly cell-drawn and displayed on the 4 by 3 cathode ray tube televisions of the era-which were known to add grain to the image due to the raster scanning refresh rates of 60 Hz alternating between two sets of lines.

Curious to see if they will go with the original intention of who the one with the red eyes was and if we will get any other sonic characters. Fact that someone animated this and Archie comics online gave an ending for sonic underground just makes a part of me feel fulfilled. Really proud of this fanbase.
To answer the first part of the post, yes. It is going to be Naugus, and yes, we are getting at least one more character (Knuckles). Just keep in mind that this is not going to be based on Archie. It is going to be based on the fan comic from over at FUS. So it's going to be a little different.

Man, this series meant a lot to me in my childhood. Even now, with some of the rose-tinted glasses removed, it still holds up in many ways. That being said, the idea of seeing where the story continues on from where the show left off is fascinating to me, yet I still have mixed emotions. Part of me is excited to see how this goes, while the other part of me is afraid of how it could go wrong, like so many other fan-made attempts before.
As it is, from this trailer alone, the basic artstyle and feel seems to be very well-maintained, but how the rest pans out remains to be seen. The best way I can sum up the way I feel is in 5 words: “Please don’t f*ck this up.” I know it doesn’t necessarily sound encouraging, but I _am_ putting a lot of trust in this project and will be following it closely. :)
Dude... "Don't fuck it up" is one of the highest praises you can give a Sonic content creator! It's essentially the 'running' catchphrase we've been saying for a decade+! That is life blood my guy! Anyone who's a Sonic fan knows _exactly_ how important "Don't fuck it up" is... We've been burned too many time to not ask it. XD
Hopefully it doesn't continue by turning into the comics...
@@DGneoseeker1 For the most part, I agree with you. The comics definitely took some… “questionable directions” in various parts of its history. But the comics did have some redeeming qualities and even some good story arcs here and there. That being said, let’s hope that they take the good parts and run with them, but cut out all the crap that no one wants to see.

I heard that Fiona Fox will cameo in the 1st episode, it's nice to hear that Team Sea3on gained permission from Michael Gallagher and also gained permission from Karl Bollers to have Mina Mongoose cameo (she can be seen partying in the trailer).
I have been waiting for 20+ years for something like this. The trailer does not disappoint.
I, too, have been waiting; I hope they follow what we know of the animator's / script writer's plans for the third season (the eyes are Naugus, Mobius is Earth in the 2360's, etc.).

Just the fact that there aren't too many spoilers ahead of time is great. I just hope to see Knuckels in the season as it was considered at the time of 1995 and who knows, SUPER SONIC will come in this universe at the end

Please bring this show back, it never deserved to be canceled in the first place. I still remember only having access to a few episodes to the show as a kid and loving it while playing Sonic 1-3 (&Knuckles) on the Sega Genesis as a little kid in the 90s.
This trailer is way past cool! Got a rush of nostalgia and goose bumps, music, animation, and artstyle reminded me of the original show in the best ways possible.

@@kingcamelot1395 Yup if Sega failed us again then the Fandom will do it themselves. There's a lot of great fan-game out there ironically better than anything Sega come up with for example Freedom Planet 2.
Everyone on the team, amazing job, the artstyle looks exactly like the original from the way the backgrounds look to the colouring and shading of the character, the animation is smooth, it's all perfect, I'm sure I can speak for a lot of people when I say that fir the longest time it bugged me that satam was unfinished despite having such an interesting storyline to it, me and everyone here definitely support this project and we can't wait to see more!
Yes that is true! But also.. I can't say that it's a perfect remedy. The original series had a fuzzy VHS tape kind of outline to everything. This has much harder and defined lines. But I'm not complaining, I'm just so happy that our unbreakable spirit that made us love this show and of course all Sonic related things hasn't wavered at all... it's stood the test of time and remains in us. Going stronger than ever in a desperate point in history. 😌
@@lorrainebrunner2490 that's true though that was due to a difference in animation techniques and different technology at the time rather than a choice in style, if they really wanted to have it look 100% like the original they'd have to do it all traditionally which I can imagine taking years - almost a decade, like you said though, the fact that this is continuing such am amazing series allows us to forgive it for not looking like it 100% especially when it's so close to the original in both style and presentation and amazingly voice actors.

@@lorrainebrunner2490 mmm, that's a fair point, I was just saying cause it might still look relatively more *new* compared to the original show but I see your point, maybe that can be a suggestion to try to capture the feel of the show more, of course when they're done actually animating the episode.
This is probably the most nuanced and mature approach to continuing the series that could be conducted. Much like the end of the Cold War, though the larger threat has been eliminated the ideologies that birthed it remain and thus complicate a proper conclusion.
The fight for freedom never ends, especially during peacetime.
Sally’s line exemplifies this:

You know I'm fairly young but when growing up, my dad had this show on dvd and I watched it all the time. Now I'm showing the show to my younger sister. This shower up on my recommended, and I thought I was dreaming. I truly hope everything goes well because every fan of this show is anxiously waiting to see this project come to life. i grew up watching SatAM and i still watch it today at the age of 24 and it will never get old and am glad that these guys are bring in a new season that we have been waiting for for over 20 years

As far as fanmade efforts go, this is next level. It's not 100% alike, and the movement in a few places is a bit sluggish, but the level of care, passion and effort on display is simply amasing. Looking forward to this becoming a reality.

When I say the movement is a bit sluggish in places, I was mainly referring to the running cycles. Watching Sally and Bunny run so slowly is jarring; it looks more like pretend rather than be natural. I don't remember that being common in the program, though it has been years since I watched it, so perhaps my memory is messing with me a bit.
Those red eyes in the bush at the end of season 2 have haunted me since childhood. Thank you for bringing this show back... Good luck!

Some of my earliest memories of Sonic were those of binge watching DVDs of this show on the TV in my parent’s bedroom. I absolutely LOVED the theme song so much. A few years later, my grandmother started buying me all of the volumes of the Sonic Archives compilations for the Archie comics because she knew how much I loved Sonic (still have all of them in boxes). This show was one of the main things that really ignited my love for Sonic. I cannot wait for this to release!!

I have very fond memories of this show. I recorded them all on vhs which was my most prized possession. SatAm Sonic had a depth and maturity like nothing else at that time or after if you ask me. I'm 37 now and I've recently got my 5 year old daughter hooked on this show.
Oh please tell me this is true! If this follows the dreams of Ben Hurst and everything... now I'm excited (first time I've heard of this).

I loved this show as a kid! I couldnt believe they made THREE SONIC series at the same time, but couldn't just keep this one going, especially since it ended on a cliff hanger. Just the idea of this is like magic.
This project came at a good time too because people were starting to really forget about SATAM and we were entering a scenario where people remember Underground more than SatAM. Nice to see recognition brought back to the series.
This is going to be a Sonic cartoon comeback to remember. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the freedom fighters!!!!!

I wonder if we’re going to get things intended for the original season three like the origin of Mobius, how Robotnik and Snivley were the last humans alive, and Nicole’s backstory.
you probably won't get that last one, since the Sea3on comic already revealed a different backstory for Nicole.
@@prufan Nicole's backstory was iffy with Ben Hurst, because he said it was one of the things that wasn't necessarily set in stone. Knuckles was, Antoine, Bunnie and Dulcy getting arcs was, Tails going on more missions was, but he had multiple ideas for Nicole's backstory. However, the one used in the comics is a good one.
Yeah....they pretty much chose not to include Dulcy. Like at all since they want to go with more of the season one aesthetic combined with season two going forward. Quite a shame since some of us actually liked her and would've wanted to see as much closure with Ben Hurst's intentions as much as possible.

Given the fact that Mania started out as a fan project and got picked up by Sega gives me hope that they'll support this too. Though, with the inclusion of Archie-Exclusives, like Mina and Jules potentially being present, there will be cause for taking care with which ones they use. (They can't use Scourge, or Lien-Da, for example. Since they're owned under Penders.) Though, it's likely they'll only be there for supporting roles, or as background characters, like in the comics. Since this seems to be heavily focusing on the core team, like with the original show and rebooted comic, than as an ensemble, like with Archie. There is a chance it'll be given the thumbs up and with hope, maybe it'll be televised. But we'll have to wait on that.

I like that Sally's voice actress is able to voice her character's frustration and anger at her plight so well.
She really sounds like everything she's worked so hard for has been yanked out of her grasp, and it's got her on the verge of tears.

The hype is real! My inner nostalgia can’t hide its anticipation! SatAm is my favourite Sonic cartoon and hopefully this will make Ben Hurst proud. The things I’m looking to is Snively’s possible darker reign from Robotnik, how threatening Naugus will be as a villain, tails’ maturity, possibility of including characters from the Archie comics and most of all for me, more Sonally shipping. C’mon you know you want to see it grow.

Speaking as someone who isn't into Sonic SatAM... man, this is absolutely incredible! Great to see that, although not official, you guys are finally getting the third season you should've gotten back in the 1990s. Go, Team Sea3on!
Being a fan of Sonic SatAM and the likes, I have excitement for Season 3. Everything about this is way past cool!

There's rumors that Sally and the other Freedom Fighters might appear in the upcoming Sonic Prime. Until then, we have the Archie Comics to tie us over.

@@SBaby Sega fully own the Freedom Fighters and Sally and that guy who should not be name can’t do anything about it. The real reason they don’t want using them because Sega Japan hate their American counterparts and they don’t care.
