When I was 18 I decided to lose weight. I weighed about 205 lbs. and stood around 6 feet tall. Here's what I did. . .AND IT WORKED!!! I began jogging every day (LONG before jogging was even close to being "a thing" to do). I didn't run very far, but I ran EVERY DAY. I quit eating sugar and carbs. NO bread, cake, cookies etc. I only ate protein, beef and a little fish once in a while. . .And lots of veggies such as broccoli, some peas and carrots, and some green beans. I drank water, some unsweetened tea, some unsweetened coffee and diet sodas once in a while as well. I became addicted to this routine as the weight began to come off. In fact, I took it too far and finally at 145 lbs. I said enough is enough and stopped being so strict about my diet. But I did NOT go back to much sugar as I had kind of lost my taste for it, and even though I did go back to some carbs, I didn't overdo that either. From that time on I have maintained a weight of around 157 lbs. ever since. I'm now 73 and I've noticed a bit of fat around my middle since I became a "covid recluse" for the past three ridiculous years, but I can handle that now that the world isn't demanding that I "hide out" in my apartment anymore. My point is that after my diet regimen at 18 to lose weight, I haven't constantly denied myself some things I want occasionally, and my weight hasn't gotten out of control. I think it's more common sense than having a list of this is OK and this isn't. I pretty much KNOW what isn't, and just don't overdo those things. So now at 73 my motto is, "Everything in moderation. . .Including moderation."

I’ve even continue to lose while staying in a calorie deficit but it requires eating less than 1500 cals a day. So from my experience - do Keto to lose the weight. But once you lose what you want to lose you can go back to eating carbs as long as you keep your calories in check & you’ll be fine.

My stepdaughter has not been fat, but she leaned that direction. She had some tests done and based on the results, she made one single change in her diet: she cut out sugar. I think she’s allowed a certain amount per day (not sure what that number is). But that was the only change she made. She has dropped so much weight, it’s simply remarkable. She’s actually teetering on the edge of being skinny.

I was worried about how my blood work results would work since I've never eaten so much meat before. Especially with the eggs and bacon or sausage in the mornings. I had blood work done a couple of months ago and my cholesterol numbers had dropped despite eating so much meat. I dropped the keto diet after reaching 190. I'm switching time sometimes ahead or before noon.
That way my body is confused and have to use my body fat to produce cell a necessary fuel.
I'm not counting calories or checking for vitimins percentage if that is enough fir every day, but I don't feel hungry or dizzy.
If I feel hungry I have my carbonated water with pinch of himalayan salt and hunger is gone.
Now I have reached my goal of 31 lbs on Aug 14 and I'm cheating, a bit. Eat some carbs two meals a day and it's been 60 days and I keep my weight at desire level.😊😊😊😊😊

I'm keto and have been for several months and doing quite well. I've lost 50 pounds and am now at my recommended and goal weight. Berries are, and have been, one of my staples, although I certainly watch my serving size. Without them, my diet wouldn't be nearly as successful. I agree, much of the marketing strategies out there are leading us astray when it comes to a healthy diet. I wouldn't include berries which are filled with nutrients and antioxidants but have very little sugar/carbs per serving. I guess I'm a bit defensive here because I truly love my berries. Take anything but them and my eggs and I'm good.

I'd like to point out that at the very start of a diet or sometimes even for months down the line, your weight might not fluctuate much, but your whole body will be changing. For a multitude of reasons
1- Body recomposition. You might be gaining the same weight in muscle that you lose in fat. Which gives the impression of no progress while in reality, you're killing two birds with one stone.
2- better mitochondrial efficiency and activation. Slowly but surely your body will start adapting to the food given to it and the actions demanded of it. Therefore while delayed, your metabolic rate will rise and you will see delayed results. So don't expect results just a week of treating your body right just.after 5-10 years of ..not doing that.
Hope this helps ❤️ best of luck on your journey.

I became vegan almost 4 years ago. I suffered from PCOS for 15 years or so. I was overweight and miserable and depressed because I couldn't get pregnant. I stopped eating meat, dairy and processed food. I still eat bread but I bake healthy bread myself, I eat all the legumes available every day . I still enjoy a good dessert but in moderation. I don't crave sugar every day like I used to. If someone tells me any fruit or veggies are bad for you I just laugh. My diet is balanced and I'm never hungry. I only had to make a few changes and i did it without another so called doctor who would rather poison me with pills and hormones that never worked for me. I managed to lose all the excess weight with those simple changes .and I'm about to give birth to my first child. My only advice is to don't eat more than your daily kcal deficit requires, avoid processed food and don't believe all of these doctors on RUclips blindly

The entire trick is to not eat sugar. Period. Sugar takes many forms (ie bread, rice, pasta, etc...) and thats what we shouldn't be eating. You can loose weigh eating ANY food if portions are small enough, but most people eat more than they should and thats why they gain weight.

Knowing about insulin resistance and how to reverse it, I started a whole new life 😁. I'm eating one ore twice a day, and it is so satisfying. Never got hungry in between. ButI cant do fruits (at the moment) because my I.R. and my liver isn't healthy. So everyone has to find his own way, to get there in the end, right ?

Another great example of how Doc can break down a subject so well, and do it calmly and without name calling/finger pointing, etc. This is especially great for those folks that are newer to shifting to a whole food, lower carb diet. There are several great "gurus" out there, but many rely on a bit of sensationalism that gives them a bit of "character", but can actually detract from the message, on occasion. Sten's videos are among the first I recommend to friends that need a well reasoned handle on these concepts.

I believe counting calories is akin to restriction dieting which in my humble and experienced opinion is not sustainable. Instead, eating just the right healthy foods and learning how to make those foods just as variable and exciting as sugary and or wheat carb based carb foods are. Counting calories does not really let you eat anything you want, because some of those things add up so quickly that you must sacrifice one for another if you dare.
I get enjoyment actually eating food to fullness. And eating meats is one thing I truly enjoy as much of more than sugary foods. But it's more sustainable. I can eat.

I love your videos!!! I am from Bulgaria, living in USA and always cringe at people putting stuff in their yogurt. In Bulgaria we call it ‘sour milk’, so we are used to eating it plain. Also, Lactobacillus Bulgaricus is the main bacteria used for the production of yogurt. I make my own yogurt or the closest to the real deal is ‘Trimona’, that I have found at Whole Foods and Wegmans. You should give it a try ☺️

It isn't that simple to say don't eat this that-When your hungry you don't what to think "Is this on the can't list" every time you want to eat. Better to have a list of "CAN" eat foods so it isn't about everything you 'CAN'T" have. Then you won't feel so deprived and hopefully you will have a plan.

@@chillrelax6915 - Ribeye steak! Lamb! Bison! Hamburger of any fat level! Eggs! Bacon! Basically a carnivore diet. Fat doesn’t spike insulin at all. It eliminates the problem of insulin-spiking unless you eat too much protein at one time. Your body switches over to burning fat after an initial adjustment. That energy is smooth and consistent over time. Brain fog disappears.
Some people do better or worse on pork or poultry or fish or red meat. Some do great on everything. Poultry, especially commercial poultry, tends to be pretty high in inflammatory polyunsaturated fats. Some people with a lot of inflammation might feel more symptoms of that, plus inflammation interferes with fat burning. But if it works for you, keep those chicken thighs with skin on coming!
Keeping a food diary, along with a diary of how you feel, is very useful once you get into the fat burning stage. Until you get there, you will definitely have more hunger because your body is begging for sugar. It can be very insistent, especially if you have been using caffeine as well.
Full fat dairy is preferred for people who can handle it. It still has carbs in it, And some people are lactose intolerant to a greater or less or degree, and some people just cannot lose weight when using it. It’s very individual.
Some people have been living on a completely carnivore diet for well over 10 years now and they don’t have any problems with constipation, or heart disease, or blood vessel calcification or cholesterol etc. Here are some names you might find on RUclips and elsewhere: Charles Washington, Amber O’Hearn, Kelly Hogan, Shawn Baker MD, Mikhaila Peterson.
