  • In this video: Jeff needs to get a few things ready for a bright and early Monday morning and shares a few things around the shop. Later on in the video he builds a bench soldering furnace, his grandfather left behind a bunch of old school soldering irons and without a furnace of some kind they are a little hard to use.

Great video as always. I'm amazed at all the useful utility things that you keep making from discarded objects or how you upcycle all sorts of things that come your way. You're a pleasure to watch.

Best part about the soldering furnace, you can keep your coffee warm, setting it on top. Heck, maybe even warm up a can of normal chili for lunch....oh wait, now you need to forge a spoon to eat it with. Haha. Nice job Jeff!

    Hi,
    Nice video.
Just a thought. I think if you kept the power on the lathe while drilling it would be even more central. The lathe turning has a "self centering" effect and your holes should meet in the middle.
    Keep up the good work.

May I ask where you purchased the burner? I like that soldering iron heater. Nice design.

Its a sheet metal test cut for one... Dana has a couple of friends who like us are huge Trek fans. We made one as a wedding gift for them, Dana engraved it with a reference used in the marriage of Worf and Dax. If your interested in seeing it here is a link to the video: ruclips.net/video/MFSPzgrY2sc/видео.html
      See ya around :)

Ok Jeff, you have too much cool shite, going on for just one video! I'm not sure if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on now... I'm liking the handle boring Machine idea, also liking the pewter mold. We trained with those soldering stations back in grade school. The teacher would scream at us every time we called one of those a soldering iron he would insist they're called soldering coppers. I've been wanting to make one of those stations for quite some time, I think I may be stealing most of your idea soon...
