  • In this video: We recently got approached to create a couple of custom clamps for boating accessories. Normally we do not take on things that involve machining since we are not a machine shop and our equipment is a little out of date. We decided to take on this project and figured it would be a good youtube video. We use some common machine shop tricks and a few back yard tactics to get the job done.

Jeff I like the way you do things because you show how it's done slowly so people can see what it looks like so one can learn from you and other RUclips's

Jeff, you are doing great as is. You show things well, you explain what you are doing clearly, and where it matters you explain why you are doing it the way you are doing it, and why you aren't doing it some other ways. Your methods can be done with tools that are more likely to be available to guys like me, even if they do make me cringe at times! :-) I also like your attitude, and your ethics. Keep on keepin' on!

Great looking job there. In answer to your question, i like both kinds of vids as i am sure most of us do. I see your vids to help me (and others) know your thinking behind what your doing and enjoy watching how you make things work when you dont have what others may have. I like Diresta to see the end job and enjoy the speeded up parts too. I would however say keep doing what your doing the way your doing it (to many do's there lol).

Like your idea about mounting the drill press vise to the channel. I will have to do something like that, simple but super effective. Which I though of it a while ago!

You are an excellent teacher. Keep the videos focuses on explanation, IMO. Also, you remind me of Bobby Clarke with that hockey face.

Your videos are good just about the way they are. If a unique set up or tool is being used I like to get information about it as well.

I like when it is explained, typically I watch metal working videos to try to learn the skills presented. One reason I stopped watching Jimmy D, not as much explanation any more. I still watch Alec since his earlier videos showcase the skills. The rest are application of those skills and my kids enjoy watching him live during our dinner time. I believe what you are doing, are all unique and need that explanation. I would hazard a guess that welding aside, 90+% of my metal working understanding comes from your videos. welding wise, I watch Chuckie2009. His early videos got me going on welding. His current videos are mostly a continuation of that education as he explains everything as he works through the video.

No, she's right handed ;) Years of being diabetic, dealing with gum disease and having no insurance to speak of is starting to catch up with me. When the business starts to bring more revenue I'll see if I can get it fixed, if not I'll machine one out or 440 stainless LOL.

Good attitude man! My insurance cost went from 400bucks a month to almost A GRAND Thanks to obamacare! I cant wait for them to repeal this POS so we can buy across state lines. Hang in pal! I'm betting things turn around for us soon.

Nice job Jeff. As for the types of videos I like....those that explain what is going on. For me, a non verbal, fast forwarded video has little value. I don't bother watching them. Keep doing what you are doing. Thanks for sharing.
