- The awesome guys over at Filmpac gave me their Original Collection of stock clips to see what I could do with it. So I put together a little spec commercial with their clips.

I practiced editing by collecting stock video and stills. . . seeing what story I could conjour. . . and settled for a talking crab, getting annoyed with humans trashing its beach with discarded global plastic. . . so it sets off on a mission to some how get them (humans) to sort out. . . "The Everlasting Poo".

It sure looks good but as a commercial, the stock footage and a lack of voice over makes the commercial confusing. While watching this, I kept asking myself, "What is this a commercial for?" and at the end I was just incredibly confused when it was revealed.
Again, really pretty but commercials are meant to sell things.

Nicely put together, but you're missing the marketing point of it. A commercial usually makes you feel good right at the end and immediately shows the logo to connect that good feeling with the brand. It's probably harder to do with stock footage though.

It's okay. But I am not sure how "sticky" stock commercials are. Just feels a little generic and forgettable. But cheap is a very good thing ;)

Edit after reading some more comments: This is a great example that you can potentially make a video for little to no money. my following comment is in regards to how it could have been done better IMO.
You can make anything out of stock footage, that doesn't mean it's any good. The footage is great and so is the music, but if I don't have a story or something that actually catches my eye I lose interest fast. Once it finally got to the point I couldn't care less and instead I was wondering what any of those clips had to do with a school. A few ways to make it better- Cut out the first thirty seconds. And/or show the school logo and/or a mission statement at the beginning. With a mission statement the people have something to connect to rather than a bunch of hipster shots. With the kid in the forest, the glow sticks, the instruments and the dancing, I had no Idea what you were trying to sell and it got more frustrating than enjoyable to watch. It made sense in the end but for an entire minute I was wondering wtf, and not in a good way. Just my personal opinion (Professional filmmaker for 7 years)
