Thanks for the video, got to finish some brass inlays in a 10ft pecan table for a client, this trick will work great.
This video was very helpful when I started learning how to polish the copper plates required for my art practice (daguerreotypes). I use a mostly dry polishing method now but couldn’t have refined my process without this guide. Thank you.
I'm happy to hear my video helped you. Thank you very much for watching.
Thanks for the video. Interesting how you do this.
Awesome job. Love it!!!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
This was highly therapeutic to watch :)
Awesome Job!
Thank you so much!!
That’s a big copper plate! Great job!
Thanks, happy you enjoyed the video
Wow wow loved, can you make a video of how to sand and polish copper pots and pans?
Hey i love the vids! Quick question, why do you use a drill and not a buffer ? Just curious.
Thanks
Are you the car flip guy? Sick!
Have you tried this on copper that you have electroformed? Would love to get a mirror finish on my plating
brass, copper, Bronze zinc aluminium stainless only left is gold ;p nice video
What is your plan for that super polished piece of copper?
Hi! What is the maintenance afterward? I'm assuming that you don't spray it with window cleaner.
💜💜💜
This is how the Egyptians made mirrors. ❤️
With orbital power tools, Alumicut and blue shop towels? Cool, never knew that.
What thickness of copper plate did you have?
I would like to request a short video if possible showing side by side reflectance quality of common "aluminium mirror" vs polished metal of yours to see if its worth the effort? For all kind of metals if they are still in your possession.. your videos on this polishing really give me inspiration, but i am still in doubt what path i should take. Thank you in advance!
Could just use a reflectance meter.
Mister,me wait your next video
I second that. New content soon?
Lastly in the products you listed. I don't see the drill adapter that hooks up to the 3M lock it disc. It should be a piece of metal that threads into the disk on one end and fits the drill on the other end.
I just use the chuck of the drill to hold the hook it pad
i would love to know what tool you are using! is it a drill or is it a grinder? what brand? what type? stuff like this!
Hello Fredrick, I put a list of all the products I used in the description of the video. Thank you very much for watching.
Can we get the same result on a aluminium bike? (Alloy)
What did you finally use it for?
IMHO I was devastated starting with 200grit. Why? Also, why use a drill that will create swirls over an orbital sander? Create a problem then solve it..... I don't think that I'd use anything finer than....2000 as a start point and I'd definitely have used a proper finishing pad with metal polish for the final finish. As someone else said, it would have been more transparent if there had been some close up shots to prove the concept.
Would this work on copper pipe?
Question.... So I went through and mine is still cloudy. I'm guessing I didn't do each grit long enough to remove the scratches from the grit before. And tips to know when it's been long enough?
If you change the direction you are sanding in, for example length ways then width ways, when you no longer see the scratches from the other direction you can change to the next grit.
@@yellowlighthouse3057 thanks. That's a good idea
🖖 👍
Hi... I'd like to see the closer copper surface after finish. Are there any big cuts or deep scratches? Thanks,
I agree. I can't believe all the scratches from the courser sandpaper were removed that quickly. A close-up of the reflection would tell the tale.
@@sandirussell7460 of course it would with polishing pad and compund
trying to polish a copper water kettle. is Gord's polish and Blingmaster sealant safe for cooking surfaces? sorry if this is a dumb question.
Are you polishing the inside then?
@@CosmicSeeker69 I focused on the outside. I did polish and seal the inside without issue
Hey will this work on firearms ?
Would this work if the copper is deeply tarnished?
Yes
Does that final step protect from oxydiation?
How to make
One more problm after 3 days again shine going how to make clear coat
I have swirls everywhere as the drill dances around, also gords not turning black, no real color change
all that for it to patina in a week lol
Please send me one copper mirror as a gift in asia i want to do some ritual experiments 😵👹👹👹
Fine if you only need to polish a flat sheet of copper, not realistic for copper itenms
