That was a very enjoyable round to watch. Your new-found ability to handle the odd hiccup in the round and bounce back is impressive, as is the measured approach to each hole. I think you deserved to be under par in this round - those two doubles were a bit unfortunate, and really the only lapses you had. I'm looking forward to the next one.
played there myself with family during open week in a tidy wind. what a superb test of golf. the welcome from the starter and members was first class. great course and a great golf club
Hey Matt, I count myself lucky to have been a member at St Nicks for over 30 years. It was really great seeing how the course could be played(apart from your bogey blips). Great shots and lovely drone work. Come back when it's blowing a bit more. Cheers and keep up with your filming👍👌
As a huge fan of Golf Sidekick and his sensible way of plotting his way around a course, not hitting Driver all the time, I did wonder how long it would take you to start doing the same thing and keep yourself out of the rough more often. Just need Rick S to finally see the wisdom of this way of playing golf.
I love this series! Mr Fryer is very honest about his game and I enjoy watching his process to get some well earned rounds of golf! Keep up the great content!!
Well done. Your last few videos have really highlighted that golf is more than just beating the crap out of the ball with a driver. Sharing your thought process and playing the percentages more has presented the game in a more practical and relatable way that viewers can apply to their own game. I hope this change brings you the subscribers you deserve.
You are playing really well Matt! Keep up the great work. (Interestingly so are your golfing comrades Peter & Rick since seeking to qualify for the Open)
I’m only midway through the video but it’s so good to see you play well, Matt. Mindset and course management and I expect you’ll be knocking on the door for final qualifying next year! 😀 keep it up! So much better than watching you smash everything!!!
Love this. Forgive me, Matt isn't a Tiger, or Rory, but awesome tips for us who are way behind them but Matt is way further forward than most of us.. what I really like about this vid, is it isn't fixated. Course management matters, particularly playing links. Hero shots aren't for most of us. Take the time, and trim the scores.
Funny that you mentioned camber on the 16th hole. I think it was on that hole (which must have had a lot less gorse on it at the time) that I hit a shot high over the out of bounds fence into the road. There was so much camber on the road that it bounced back over the fence and onto the fairway.
Love the course management, missed one or two chances but didn’t let it blow out. Also great mental control I’d find it difficult to recover after those doubles but you kept yourself in the game.
Hi Matt enjoyed that , played St nicks a few wks. ago in the wind not easy , though yourself and Mr finch should try a bit further up the course , to West kilbride and Largs , both always in great condition
My theory is so much planning and thinking before the shot clears your mind when you are over the shot, not to mention the confidence has to be higher because of the preparation
That "rough" is so nice. As a high handicapper id prefer be in that launchpad instead of the tight fairway 😂 Never seen such nice "rough" in my life. Seems like u can hit it anywhere off the tee round there
Continued "Professionalism". You are going to be a very scary competitor once you can tame that driver and get it gaining strokes for you. Well done sir!
Played here in county youths match. And got put out number 1 after a series of wins. Was so nervous. Topped it off the tee 80 yards tops. Seen the dude I was playing laughing with his team mates. Beat him 7&6. I was 7 under after the bogey at the first in a breezy day. How do you like them apples ma boy. ✌️👊
Good round, Matt. Although that helpful member gave you advice, did his presence affect you a little on that hole? No blame culture here, but he basically ruined you! 😂 🔴🏌️♂️
Great round, Mr. Fryer! Your mental approach and composure have been very solid of late.
Yep I'm trying to work at it!

A nice round of golf. You're definitely on the right track.
It's a work in progress
highlight of my week! keep it up Matt!
Thanks! Will do!

Love the way your looking at each shot. Staying with your strengths is smart. Nice round Matt. Thanks

You're on the right track Matt. Keep planning
Appreciate it 👊
love watching all the instructors play these courses, keep it coming
Love these videos thanks ❤
Nice play Matt, love the new process and mindset .
Brilliant track, have good memories of winning the senior open at St Nick's in 2014 ⛳
My home course. Well played Matt. Glad you got it on a good day weather wise. When the wind blows the course bites back.
Thanks 👍
I love this series! Mr Fryer is very honest about his game and I enjoy watching his process to get some well earned rounds of golf! Keep up the great content!!
Love in the red do not stop these streams really enjoyable ❤
OMG, I'm from the USA and have a tee time for that course next month! Can't wait to watch this!
You will love it! Class track!
On the up and up Matt, some great golf lately ⛳️🏌🏻♂️👏👍
Great looking course and well played 🙂👍
Some amazing courses on that stretch..
Was a member there for a few years. Great course but can be brutally punishing at times, especially in the winter! Great round Matt 👌
Good round.Good video. Onwards and upwards.
Well done.

Playing some of the best golf I’ve seen you play in years, playing within yourself. Yardages can be tricky on links
Appreciate it!
Great round Matt. But you need the jitters of competition to reach your goal. Good start though.
You are playing really well Matt! Keep up the great work. (Interestingly so are your golfing comrades Peter & Rick since seeking to qualify for the Open)

Well done mate!
Been playing well for a while to be fair mate - well done 👍
Great round that Matt

Great to see you playing and showcasing some of Scotland's hidden gem courses. Saint Nic's is a tough wee track so level par is a good result.

Well played young sir.
Very well done, frustrating Asf but extremely well played

Ahahahha. Saving the Bacon by Matt Fryer. Good one! New series coming? Ahahaha
Great content for golf lovers!
Another great video keep up the good work 👍what putter you got in the bag?
It's an evnroll er5
played here last year in the evening time in hot sunshine. One of the best rounds I've ever enjoyed, seriously wanna go back
Steady golf indeed Matt, unfortunate distraction which caused the double, but you regained your focus and found a decent finish, well done fella. 👌🏼
Well Done Sir
You were two or three shots from 4 under, great showing!!!!
The new sensible Matt. Well played unlucky not to be in the red 👍
Great round Matt, have you thought of a mini driver, the 3 woods working a treat, but the mini driver could be even better
I'm a member at st Nics. Great course and well played. Grew up in playing Walton Hall golf course near your local :)
Love that! Good track Walton when in good Nic!
As an experiment it might be interesting to see you doing a round using alignment sticks. Has anyone ever done that?
Not thought of that....
My theory is so much planning and thinking before the shot clears your mind when you are over the shot, not to mention the confidence has to be higher because of the preparation
I noticed that your irons have Graphite shafts, is this something you would recommend. I thought Graphite shafts were more suited to older golfers.
My CONTROVERSIAL DECISION 1 Year On! Was It Worth It?

Watch this about them!
That "rough" is so nice. As a high handicapper id prefer be in that launchpad instead of the tight fairway 😂

West coast golfing greats.
Well plotted round matt
This is my mates course, totally different course when the wind picks up!
It was brillant
Much better decision-making and attitude.
👍👍
Hey Matty, I see you have that new Golf Pride tapered grip. How are you getting along with it?
Did you ask to get the long rough cut for your arrival. We played there 6 weeks ago and it was absolute bund!! Good shooting.
i think i'd probably use the putter off the tee on 18. That's a "body will absolutely not listen to what i'm telling it to do " type of shot.
Not sure if its the putter or Mr Fryer for the naughty step
Continued "Professionalism". You are going to be a very scary competitor once you can tame that driver and get it gaining strokes for you. Well done sir!
Great video👍 course record 69? 🤔

Ref your comment about cars being hit on 18, St Nicholas is the only course I know where the visitors car park is next to the clubhouse 😉😉😉😉
Love it
Most car parks are close to club houses
Am I the only 1 who was looking forward to the putt from the bunker?
How is the course record on one of the oldest courses around even par?
I don't know where Matt picked that up from - the course record is 62 if I remember correctly.
Did the helpful member actually put you off on 16th, Matt. Seemed to break your concentration.
Surely you have holed lots of putts not held them?
I enjoy your videos, but please do not use your "American accent". I do appreciate the planning stategy and I am trying hard to excute same.
