This is my new favorite budget bourbon! The following are my other faves: Early Times, Old Forester 100, Very Old Barton 100, and of course, Evan Williams BiB. (Budget for me is less than $25 for a 750) Honorable mention is JTS Brown BiB. I really like the JB7 even though it is only 90 proof. And I got a 1.75L bottle for $30! The odd thing is that I dislike most Beam products (except Knob9, which has shot up in price to $70+ for a 1.75. I'd rather have 2 of these)
Picked up a 1.75 for $35. Excellent Bourbon for the price. I haven't had anything in this price range that I like as much. I get mostly Sweet Caramel with some vanilla and a nice oak finish. Only just a little bit of burn due to the lower proof point. The tasting notes on the bottle match pretty much perfectly for me. Super easy to drink and pleasing.
I'm very happy with this JB Black 7yr. I picked it up for $20.00 in my area. For the price I think it's quite hard to beat. I do leave it settle in the glass a bit before sipping. I have nothing bad to say about it.
I have watched at least 5 different review of this and everyone loves it. It's the "new bargain bourbon" you must buy. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
@@forcedair92gt94Nice, was gonna ask if the new JB 7 is available in anything bigger than the little 750 mL size? That would add instant better value. The KC 9 yr & 7ry Rye comes in 1.75L, so always think it's strange when lower products, like OGD Bonded & 114 do not come in 1.75L. Oh, lowest I found EW 1783 is $30 1.75L (total price w all taxes/fees, etc.)
Just bought some today. Here in Texas it is $33 for a 1.75L bottle which works out to be just over $14 for a 750ml size. Can't beat that bargain for an easy sipper!
Good video. Haven't seen this on the store shelves in my area yet. I would have liked to see you compare the existing Black label to this new 7 yr. black label, to see what the differences (if any) are, and if it's work the extra cost.
I bought a bottle of the JB Black 7-yr today, and it's fine. I would have to try it against an old bottle that is still on the shelf. I kind of think this means the JB double oaked and single barrel bottles are next up for a makeover (and price bump).
yea i compared them both, its a tad better, and the higher proof makes it more complex. but overall a little watered, and for the money i would just do knob creek 9 .
I just picked up a bottle of this in my area for $21. To me this is the Jim Beam response to the Evan Williams 1783. And I hate to say it, but I think I like the Black 7 year more than the Knob 9 year. We'll see how it goes the deeper I get into the bottle. There is a lot to like if you are a fan of the Jim Beam or Heaven Hill flavor profile.
On the pricing topic, beams pricing hasnt made an ounce of sense in years, i wouldnt expect that to change now. Good to see them put out a nice budget option though.
For real😂 Bookers is 7 years and $100, Bakers 7 is 7+ years and $60, this is 7 years and under $40. There really isn’t much of a difference between those 3 either. At least not as big of a difference as the difference in prices, just higher proof as they get more expensive
Nice review. Picked up a 750ml bottle for $23 a few weeks ago. Very nice for what it will be for me…a primer bourbon. So much better than the Jim Beam white label 🤮. 🥃
Same price as you here in Louisiana. Kind of like they said, this isn't knocking my socks off but it is pretty nice for the price. Old Grandad 114 is the only below $30 bottle I prefer to this.
We picked one up for our channel and we were pleasantly surprised. Bumping up the proof a few points did wonders for the label and the added age statement doesn't hurt either.
Yeah! Beam blind!!! I’d watch that. Sara(h) I hope you’re wrong! What you said about pricing makes total sense. Knob Creek 9 is one of my very very favorites but only at its current price.
My local Sam's Club had this for $18.88. Was a no brainer to pick it up at that price. Neck pour was really rough, but after a few days of being open it's gotten quite nice. Oakey, vanilla, caramel, nutty. Typical Jim Beam profile.
My step son, who is on vacation stopped before and brought me two bottles of Jim Beam Black 7 year. He gets it at Sam's for 18 dollars plus two dollars tax... It is really great neat..... I also enjoy Rittenhouse Rye for my mixer...
Knob Creek 9 is my favorite bourbon. It's not only two years older than this Beam bottle, but it's also 10 proof points higher. Howsomever, this 7 year Beam sounds good, and it's on my wish list. 🙂
if people don’t want higher proof, than let them water it down. knob creek all day, aged longer, taste better, the black is ok but tastes watered. not much hold.
I’ve already drank most of a bottle for this…lol. I got it for $20 at Kroger. I call it a baby bookers with that nuttiness. Very enjoyable, easy sipper.
After many years of bourbon tasting and fun, I've come to believe MOST people couldn't pick a $200 bottle over a $30 bottle in a blind session. Of course, living in the Whiskey Wasteland of my home state, I probably won't see this for a while. Looking forward to the invite to come try it at your place. Cheers,
Can you let us know if this changes after a few days. For me wt101 definitely changes over a few days. I'll leave it open overnight. Then re-taste a few times.
So we have a grocery store in Illinois that started in Wisconsin, no credit cards, debit cards and cash. The alcohol is a lot cheaper. Got the Beam 7 for $21.99. I like it, it's solid, not worth $29.99 to me.
Last Beam Black I swore I would never buy another. So maybe I'll give it another chance although I really hate buying less than 100 proof and only do it for exceptional bottles like Michters. I think I'll still have a strong Bakers 7 preference. Last Devil's Cut was rot gut too.
Any interest in blinding with the 8 year double aged? I know it’s only 86 proof, but I can still find that bottle from time to time for around $20. Currently have one open and one backup.
You could add OGD Bonded or Old Tub into that flight fight as well. I think I'll be able to get this 7 yr bottle at $25, so one of those may be reasonable.
I bought a 750ml bottle of JB 7 Year at a liquor store a mile up the street from my house today for $21.95. The Black Extra Age was right next to it at the same price. I did a taste test of it against what remained in my two week old bottle of Wild Turkey 101 and can say straight away I prefer the WT.
Love what y’all do. I will say though, at 1:10-ish you said that Jim Beam white label doesnt have an age statement. I have a bottle on the shelf and im staring at it. It’s on the back label. Lol! However, it’s still aged 4 years. I just thought I would be that asshole critic today. Keep doing your thing!
I just blinded this last night against the “new” Early Times BiB, and the ET beat it out in aroma, flavor and finish. And, it’s even noticeably darker. And with it only bring 10-proof points higher, really makes me wonder what the age is on these ETs! With that said, I probably will not be buying this Jim Beam again.
craft distilleries are trying hard nowadays but Beam, Turkey, and Heaven Hill just keep bringing the consistency I want and love. cheers
So true! I’d throw Jack Daniel’s and Buffalo Trace/Sazerac in there too in my opinion.
I've only seen the 1.75s in my area for $37. Such an incredible value! Super glad to see more age statements coming back.
I found it when I was traveling in SC for $30 for a 1.75! What a bargain!
Just finished my third bottle and tomorrow I'm buying two more backups. Its that good.... Neat!!!
Absolutely beautiful of Jim beam to make this perfect

you will not be disappointed, especially for the money
I've been through 2 bottles already. Very good for the money!!!!!!
It’s on shelves for a lot less than $30. I paid $19 at Sam’s Club and for that I think it’s a great buy.
Just picked one up at Sam's also for $19.99. I found a 1.75 lt EW 1783 for 25.99 at a local shop.

Hard to beat for 100$
Finally came to my town. I would buy this regularly. I did not like extra aged. This new 7yr is pretty refined. 24 dollars out the door.

Great review Love the flight fight idea. Beam has so many bottles within about 10$ of this it is hard to know what to pick.
Thank you both for the review 🥃
Bought a bottle at LB in Lex the other day. Shared a story with someone from VA also. Good times.
$18.99 at Total Wine in South Carolina, great budget sipper.🥃

I just purchased this yesterday for $18.99 at my local grocery store

Just picked this up for 20.99 at total wine in California

In my area I usually see JB Black 7 under $25, and often see it $20.
Got it for 19 doll hairs at Sam's. On my second bottle. Cheers!
Yeah! Beam blind!!! I’d watch that.

I totally agree 👍
That’s how early times is for me…shit is horrible until you leave the top off for a while and then it tastes amazing on the rocks
Krogers in NKY has on sale for $18.99 bought 4 !!!
That's an incredible price!

I guess I'll pick one up. I just got a Jim Beam Double Oak to try, also a Rebecca Creek Double Barrel Specs limited edition.
I love the Knob Creek 9yr, but it's around $40 in my area. I haven't seen the 7 yr old black label yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it.

$23 at Sam's in Louisville
with this being 25 buck here in ohio It is so worth it im calling this Bakers JR
I saw it beat Bakers in a blind 😂
I miss The 7 Year Distillers' Choice Beam that they replaced with Devil's Cut.
Is this replacing the Regular Jim Beam Black??
I got lucky and came across this at a Sam’s Club for 20 bucks lol. Cheers!!
$29 vs $45 for kc9 let me know what to buy. I love love kc9.
I paid $45 for 1.75. Didn’t think it was a bad deal
Hmmm? $20.99 at Total Wine today in S Florida.
18.99 plus tax at Kroger. Even if I don’t prefer it the price is great and it can be nicer.
A new round of Flight Fights would be fun when y'all get back "in country".
Would OF 100 or EW BIB be better than this? Higher proof about the same price.

25 bucks @ total wine in fla
Total wine has JB7 for $46/1.75L. KC9 is $70/1.75L. No brainer for me.

47 plus tax for a handle in ohio

Jim Beam single barrel is a ripoff in the Chicago area, priced at 40 bucks!
