Clyde was an orangutan Chad 🙄 “Any Which Way But Loose (1978)” and “Any Which Way You Can (1980)”. Your “older” references were really flying over Sara’s head today. 😂 Good on you flight fighting affordable bourbons 👍🏻
It’s been a Beam year for me and I’ve been snagging a lot more of these $30-ish bottles. Mostly since the good stuff is around $80 now and plowing thru $80 bottles in a few months kind of stings. Especially when some of them are quarterly releases or single barrels we won’t see again, hard to/can’t replace that. These cheaper bottles are great values and easily replaceable, and don’t mind if you kill it. Save me good stuff for friends or weekends.
Bought a bottle of the sunshine blend this past weekend. Surprisingly good! Jim beam has been putting out some quality whiskey lately. Really like the 7 year!
Right Turn Clyde, don;t forget he drove the Limo in Cannonball Run II, Have the Double Oaked, Devils Cut, Black Label and still prefer the Green Label Choice, have one bottle left in the stash I found in Portugal
Great flight. The Winter Reserve is delicious. I wonder how it’d taste in a cider. Can’t wait for the St. Louis Bourbon Festival. It’s a blast every year
My 3 rebuys are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Early Times blue top, and 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey. Made in Clermont and Louisville, Kentucky. Our son likes the Jim Beam Double Oaked for the price, the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked when spending more.
I tried the black 7 when I was home this summer. I liked it soooooo much. especially at that price. Incredible stuff. I do like the NAS black though, and in my local market that is the JB black we have still. I'm making sure to enjoy those while they are around, but I am excited for the black 7 to arrive here.
Super helpful. Man I thought I had the good stuff with my JB 7 year Black. I do like it though actually, but then I definitely gravitate to the dryer, earthier, peppery, etc.
This is the best budget BEAM flight fight currently on the Internet ! Do you need another Jim Beam expression? Of course i do 😅 The question is, will the winter reserve be available in Europe 😢 anytime soon I'm eager to give it a go!
Great flight! I always find these basic Jim Beam offerings to be incredibly confusing. They do a great job with their more premium lines. Knob Creek is broken down by age. Basil Hayden is broken down by types that make sense. OGD is broken down by proof. All that is easy for the consumer. Devils Cut? Winters Reserve? Extra Aged, the 7 year isn't in my area yet. Even the Double Oak doesn't seem like the Woodford or other classic double oaked bottles. None of these names mean anything. I really appreciate you guys blinding these to explain what they are beyond the poor marketing nonsense.
I kind of backed into the Jim Beam distillery. I'll never buy their white label again, but I love Knob Creek, Old Grand-Dad, and Old Overholt (in that order), and so when the Black came back with the 7 year age statement I heeded the reviews, and bought it. I've not been sorry, and so I'm a bit more amenable to trying other Jim Beam brand expressions. Had y'all been making videos previously? Sara seems even more cheerful and bubbly than usual. ❤ It's kind of disappointing that my Black 7 didn't rate higher, but if I'd been tasting the same flight I might have done likewise. FWIW the 7 year reminds me of Old Grand-Dad. They're not identical, but they're both fruity on my palate. Thanx for a fun video, y'all. 🥃🙂
I’ve never tried these (or even seen two of them). I do Beam’s Old Grandad Bonded for under $30, but not sure how different that mash bill is from these.
With Jim Beam Black getting a design and a bit of an upgrade, do you guys think Beam will do the same with the double oaked and devil's cut? I've never seen the Winter Reserve anywhere.
@@jeffwinbush5039 I would guess probably not. It makes sense for Beam Black since it used to be stated as 8 years then just “extra aged”, so it makes sense for an age statement to come back, but both Double Oak and Devil’s Cut already have their “gimmick” for lack of a better term. If they used to have an age statements then it would have a better change of getting an upgrade.
For what it's worth, I just responded to a question asking if we had been drinking before this episode because Sara seemed more "cheerful and bubbly than usual". Kinda crazy what people think they pick up in the videos.
It's been a while. I don't remember the last video I watched, but I know it was like eight allocated, hard to find, very expensive bourbons. "Out of touch" feels appropriate because, what you were doing, the bourbons you were tasting, comparing, the whole thing, was not relatable to me. But four Beams, while not something I would do, at least it's relatable. Hope it sticks, I really enjoyed this channel before it was elitist. Vault without Rex, Tribe without Daniel, I'd really like a whisky channel I can just enjoy watching again.
Good to see you again but we've always covered the gambit of Bourbons from low priced to the LEs, we hit them all and always have. Maybe the more value stuff just hasn't been coming up in your recommendations? I don't know, but regardless, thanks for the comment.

Great video. It's nice to get reviews on what I drink. 90ish proof, $25ish, and available. Please keep it up. Thanks!
Fantastic! I’ve never seen the Winter Reserve before and picked it up at the Titusville Walmart for $13.98 yesterday.
25 or 6 to 4. When Chicago was killing it/before they went full-tilt schmaltz in the 80's.

Now I want a Devil's Cut and Winter Reserve do do this one for myself. Excellent video. 🥃

Thanks! And nope, this was our first video of the day haha.
Be nice to have a double barrelled competition. But I tried Jim Beam once but immediately returned to WR. Today, I prefer WR Double Oaked.
Based on your tasting notes, I'm inclined to think that I would prefer the double oaked.

I wonder how white label would have fared. I get tempted to try these Beams, but KC9 and Old Grand Dad already got me.
@@Razieleatssouls Probably not as well with the 80 proof and no addition barrel treatment or additional aging, but who knows!

Jim Beam 7 Year in last place doesn't surprise me at all. It's mediocre and highly overrated.

I don't need any of these.
Your taste buds are way off, Black 7, think of it as a baby version of Bookers .
