Good review I loved my previous 502 but as you said they are "busy" above 65. Got a new 702 last week and have mixed feelings low speed in top gear it hunts and as I do a lot of riding in built up areas and I really don't expect to be in 3rd or 4th at 30mph. Still love the handling and comfort of these models ( will definitely get the bigger screen) and the extra power is most welcome but not sure about the harshness of the 180 motor with firm acceleration feels like an old school big single with too much advance!!!. I guess I'll get used to it.
Those mixed feelings have gelled to a certain dislike. The motor is totally intractable below 3000-3500rm so I end up riding round town (the local council lunatics have put 20MPH in place) in in 2nd or 3rd gear and still need to "feather" the throttle to avoid the harshness of the motor. Any large throttle opening with the motor below 3000 rpm judders and makes the mirrors bounce. My local dealer (who has always been very helpful) has told me that this motor is like the 800 and needs ~4000miles to bed in. I sure don't want to do 4000 miles like this. It's such a shame because I like the riding position and feel of the machine but the engine feels like badly out of tune V twin or a concrete mixer. 😞
I was disappointed by the reaction of the technical person at the NEC bike show who basically said this is how the bike is, live with it. So at this pointas there appears to be no dealer remap (my local dealer has promissed to keep me updated on this), I am looking at other possible options.
Fantastic review, again, looks a really good well priced bike. How did you find low speed manoeuvring, tight turns etc., was the weight an issue. Must say the lights looked very impressive and I can't understand why more manufacturers don't back light the controls.

Hi Mark, love your channel. ❤ I have a question. I took a test ride on one of these last week and was quite impressed. I noticed the VIN number began ZBNPA, which would mean made in Italy, although reports are saying these engines are made in China. Don't suppose you had a peek at the VIN on that one or still have the hire/rental agreement (on which the VIN would appear) to compare. Asking just out of curiosity. Thanks 👍
@@markpulling12 Thanks. I've just done a bit of research and apparently there is such a thing as WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier), which is the first (generally) three digits of the VIN. Benelli's WMI is ZBN. This just means it is a Benelli vehicle but doesn't necessarily mean it was made in Italy.
Hello , I tested the 702x and I loved it. I'm hesitating between the standard 702 and the x version. Which one did you like the most? big difference in handling? Thank you and very good video

Hello 👋 nice review. Which trk choose 702 or 702x ? I heard 702 has better breaks but 702 x has more comfortable susp. I am 6 ft tall. Can some one give me a hint? 🙏
Hi the CF Moto is a great bike lots of power and tech but it's price is getting near or is tracer 9 ...v Strom 800 etc territory....so for me I'd go for the better value middle size benelli...tbh at 60 /70!,,mph it rides just as well and is just as comfortable....I think the trk 700 is a great bike cheers mark
It's a nice review but the problem with these cheap China bikes is build quality. They've cut corners like traction control, but what corners were cut building the engine? Will it start smoking after 10k miles? Will the bolts show rust after a year? I think I'll take a young secondhand Triumph Tiger for now.
I glanced upon a 2 year old 502 and it looked 10 years old... probably a commuter bike so out in all weathers' but it looked really shabby with furred up fasteners' flakey paint on the frame' swingarm and other areas...... look great new but definitely not up to our climate
@@mrthomas394 new jap bikes aren't much better. I've had 2 new yamaha and a new suzuki over the last few years and thy all showed signs of corrosion and rusty bolts after a year. The seat lock on my my mt 10 seized up within a year, so couldn't remove the seats. Most manufacturers seem to be putting cheap components on their bikes these days.
I don’t know why but don’t like the looks, the colour scheme of the massive beak and especially the dash. Cant someone make twin clock tft. I know I am looking thru your camera but the finish looks poor ie the bolts etc. I am envious that you get to try different bikes. I can see in a few years if the pricing is still competitive you will see a lot more on the roads. That is a big if though as they seem to be creeping up very fast. Great in depth review buddy as always. Also enjoy your e bike ones too
Looks to be a hidden gem this bike. Agree with you Mark that it looks really good in this green colour scheme. Illuminated switch gear as well and great lights. They seem to have ticked all the important boxes. Being a cable throttle it sadly won't have cruise control, but still, it seems fantastic vfm. Good tyres Pirelli Angel GTs as well which is rare on a more budget focussed bike. It will be taking on all sorts of other bikes at this price point. However I have no idea where my nearest Benelli dealer is or if their dealer network is any good?
Just been to my local dealer. None in stock all sold . More bikes due in march nxt year🙄 . was told beneli dont offer 702 demo bikes to dealers ? Was your bikes you rode customer bikes mark ?
The first one was an unsold model then quickly sold the second X model was the Moto GB bike loaned to me ...march next year..fof next stock .I thought and was hoping more like November/ December oh well watch this space I guess.....give Poole Moto a call they can deliver...and have a couple cheers mark
I think there is nothing that could Best this bike in price. The closest one that is actually better is the Transalp 2023, but its much more expensive, around 3K euro more in my country.. The Trk702 could definatly be my upgrade in 2-3 years when they go second hand for even cheaper. I am currently with Aprilia Pegaso Trail 2008. Also I am around your hight, so the 702x would be too tall for me. The Aprilia is the maximum seat hight 820mm for a 1.70m

This would have been a 100% review if you compared it directly to the 502 which most of us have or the x that is. Then we would be able to say yep that's a much better bike or lets say not worth the hassle bike ?? It would even have helped those thinking of a 502 which I have and love after owning a 1200 gs pile of over rated crap yes over rated crap. Sorry to all 1200 gs owners but you if you are honest you will get where I am coming from. Its not just the bike but the company who do not give a shit once the bike is out of warranty. All they want is for you to but another pile of crap but new. so that they can charge over £120 per hour servicing the pile of crap and make parts that expensive you just need to get rid as fast as possible.. these bikes are fantastic value for money and if the truth were known are every bit as good as the German piles of shit !!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello 👋 nice review. Which trk choose 702 or 702x ? I heard 702 has better breaks but 702 x has more comfortable susp. I am 6 ft tall. Can some one give me a hint? 🙏
Hi the brakes are the same on both ...yes at 6 ft definitely go for the X model ...the standard is quite low
Best wishes mark
How does it compare to the competition; the 650 Vstrom or the Tiger ?
Hi it's right up there in terms of performance and handling...plus it's more comfortable
Highly recommended a test ride
Best wishes mark
Cheers Mark. I'm 5ft 7 and it's the seat height as well as the price that sells it for me. Plus it looks great 👍
Mark, would you have the 702 over the 502?
Hi I'm sat on the 702 writing this comment...yes definitely because it's got better cruising ability...lower revs less vibes at 70mph
Cheers mark
Wow! That's a prompt reply. Many thanks...@@markpulling12
Hi Mark which do you prefer out of the CF Moto 800 MT and TRK 702
Hi the CF Moto is a great bike lots of power and tech but it's price is getting near or is tracer 9 ...v Strom 800 etc territory....so for me I'd go for the better value middle size benelli...tbh at 60 /70!,,mph it rides just as well and is just as comfortable....I think the trk 700 is a great bike cheers mark
@markpulling12 thanks for your thoughts great reviews keep up the good work
It's a nice review but the problem with these cheap China bikes is build quality. They've cut corners like traction control, but what corners were cut building the engine? Will it start smoking after 10k miles? Will the bolts show rust after a year? I think I'll take a young secondhand Triumph Tiger for now.
I get your point... but many trk 502 s are running perfectly after 30000 miles plus ...they are improving all the time best regards mark
Could just get a second hand kawasaki verseys it's basically the same bike. It's the lack of dealer back up for parts is the real issue
Also enjoy your e bike ones too
Hi ..many thanks as always:)
No way we don't even have those in South America yet
Is it an adventure bike?
Yes kind of the X version is more adventurous with it's knobbly tyres and wire wheels
Cheers mark
Is it basically a versey's 650
It's very similar Chris in terms of handling and performance.
Cheers mark
Looks to be a hidden gem this bike. Agree with you Mark that it looks really good in this green colour scheme. Illuminated switch gear as well and great lights. They seem to have ticked all the important boxes. Being a cable throttle it sadly won't have cruise control, but still, it seems fantastic vfm. Good tyres Pirelli Angel GTs as well which is rare on a more budget focussed bike. It will be taking on all sorts of other bikes at this price point. However I have no idea where my nearest Benelli dealer is or if their dealer network is any good?
Thanks Alex ...yes these are proving to be very popular they have sold well cheers mark
Can this bike easily cruise with 150 kmh or 93 mph, or the best cruising speed is 70 mph as in the video ?
This bike is capable of 90 mph cruising...with 70 hp ...it will do that no problem .... best wishes mark
Thank you Mark, cheers
I think there is nothing that could Best this bike in price. The closest one that is actually better is the Transalp 2023, but its much more expensive, around 3K euro more in my country..
The Trk702 could definatly be my upgrade in 2-3 years when they go second hand for even cheaper.
I am currently with Aprilia Pegaso Trail 2008.
Also I am around your hight, so the 702x would be too tall for me. The Aprilia is the maximum seat hight 820mm for a 1.70m
very nice touring machine
A motorcycle review
the problem with this bike,if you are over 1.75,is that the seat and the pegs are too close.the legs close much
Sorry, for 7 months no reviews of anything under 300 cc** - and, no, I do not count bicycles. Actually, there were only a couple of 300/350 reviews within that 7 month period, the rest being 'big bikes'. Of the latter, I would like to see the national sales for each individual 'big bike' that you have reviewed .......hardly worth it in the case of some of them. (** according to the list of 'Videos' given on here).
Rant over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🆒😎👍
What the hell is a gallon? Heard my great grandfather once talk about them. 😁
It's the only thing that's bigger in the UK than it is in the US!
I'm sure it's a good bike but, to me, it's hideous. Nick
Let me guess, the good looking bike for you if a gsx ?
Established manufacturers really need to take notice or they will go out of business.
