I don't know if you noticed, he also gives an opinion on the subject he's just read. They're "his" opinions and he let's you know this by inviting you to give yours.Thats another reason why I like listening to him, and I like reading other blokes opinions.
only in the city ...outlying areas N somerset - bikers cannot use bus lanes ... and some of the new bus lanes of 200 yards that do allow bikes ( Brockley A371 ) leave you sitting at a light waiting for a bus to appear ... or having to cross a solid to get out of bus lane ! really not thought out at all
The future of motorcycles is in these smaller cheaper bikes for sure, the price of bikes today is bloody shocking. Yes they are beautiful with stunning fun (mad) performance, But who can afford them! Manufacturers need to get the younger generation into motorcycles if they want to survive. Make motorcycles realistic to normal average wage earners! Don’t make buying a motorcycle a dream make it a realistic reality!
Its like manufacturers have been chasing a certain 'high disposable income' niche of consumer. Then get 'surprised' when sales are down. A tiny bit of consumer research and they'd get their pricing and model range right. Then find that niche occupied by China!
That's why Chinese made bikes are likely to be increasingly dominant, certainly in Britain where our individual spending power versus much of Europe is weaker
Entertaining episode as ever TMF. Very interesting in both of the new Ducati V2's. Also looking forward to your upcoming content & round up of the year.
Always look forward to all your shows, especially twits and the touring! That road from Italy to Switzerland looked fantastic, I need to see that for myself! But no I don't think you have mentioned your shoulder before!!! well maybe once or twice!!! Hope it gets better soon.
Look forward to the live stream Andy .. thanks always. Ps The organ music for parish notices always makes me smile. Expect Derek Nimmo to pop his head round ..
When are we all going to admit that no matter how much power, spec, tech your bmw GS has and how much it costs we ain’t never going to be Ewan Mcgreggor circa 2004 😂🙏
One of my favourite programmes and always look forward to bike news. Lots of good things to look forward to in parish notices. I know you don’t often ride sports bikes, however there is a new S1000RR next year, like to hear your review of it.
I love your 'Bike News Review', Andy, I always appreciate your updates and take on what's going on. You mentioned your shoulder being a problem, and I thought I'd pass along a tip I got from the Doc I go to for health care issues. My shoulders will eventually need surgery, but until then the Doc - also a rider - told me to try taking a 15 mg Meloxicam tablet (prescription drug) the morning of a ride, and it would reduce pain by about 90% for the next 12 hours. I've had good results doing that, and am hoping it will help me avoid surgery for a while longer. Cheers, Jeff
Not that I'm a KTM fan, but over the yrs, weve seen just about all the Italian manufacturers go through this sort of financial turmoil, and they still churning lots of bikes out.
Why would anyone pay £7k, be subject to motorcycle rules & regulations when they can buy an electric bicycle for about £500, use roads & cycle routes. No m/c helmet, insurance, park it anywhere, put it on a train or in your car, up the lift to your 15th floor flat, etc.
One of my 5 bikes is an electric RGNT Scrambler. My other bikes are 220 kg plus and the RGNT is around 170 kg which makes it my go to bike for quick errands. It’s light, agile and actually looks good with it’s retro styling. I highly recommend an electric bike as a second bike.
The 1300GSA definitely looks a lot better in the flesh, my local dealer in Brockenhurst has lots in stock. It's still ugly but not as horrendous as I thought. Makes the 1300GS look beautiful though.
When I saw pics of the new R12S ...I thought of you and your love of Retros. This one might be the kind of sportbike that should appeal to many riders. As an owner of 6 BMWs over the years, starting in the 70's with an R90S, I am excited to see and likely ride this new R12S. It looks like it will be a difficult bike to resist.
Thanks for sending me the Aoocci link. I did work it out in the end and have one on order. Could you please cover up the mesh on your seat back, it does funny things to my eyes, very distracting. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Bots had comments in after a minute... Wow 😂. I do enjoy these videos by the way. I get a bit of motorbike news in the background while doing my morning chores.
Hi Andy, yes, lets have a report on the Yamaha Auto. I nearly bought an NC750dct but wanted a bit more poke, so went for a Yamaha tracer 7 GT, which would have been a perfect bike if it had auto.
Regarding the article with the two retro sports bikes being compared. The price new of the Triumph and Yamaha are about the same because of the huge discounts available on the Speed Triple 1200 RR. Also the Yamaha really needs the bellypan and full system to make it look right which makes it more expensive than the Triumph at the moment 🤔 but you are right both bikes are uncomfortable for sure.
Didn’t know Bahnstormer had shut there 😬. I find the 1300GSA does indeed look good in person - it looks much smaller and well thought out - that BMW 450 off-roader is very tempting 👀.
Fantic are on a home run...if their new twin cam motor can exceed their already great Chinese motor(check out the Berotec boys),Suzuki has some serious competition with their new DR...there's 6 gears in a Caballero! A true RTW machine, albeit a custom L/R fuel tank!
Let’s hope the rumours are true and this week a new Multistrada V2 is announced fitted with the new engine, less weight, a power upgrade and a more flexible engine, I’m looking to change my existing V2S and the V4S seems overkill.
Hi Andy, I think when you see the new 1300 GSA, especially with the luggage fitted, the proportions are better balanced equalising the bulky front, it has a utilitarian charm. I was one of the detractors when that first image appeared in July, but it is true it looks so much better in the flesh especially in the triple black. Cant wait for you to test ride one, maybe the ASA with the comfort suspension taking the seat height down to 820mm. The ASA isn't quite DCT smooth but not that far off either. Thank you.
I don't mind the look of the new Panigale V2. But I do think it's a mistake to replace the desmodromic valves. You can definitely tell the difference in the engine sound with the switch and it doesn't really have that characteristic roaring at the top end.
Morning Andy, I look forward to your monthly update on the biking news. Interested in your take on any of the auto bikes. Seams to be the next big thing, everyone is doing.
I have an 06 drz400sm and i use it just for work commute really.great bike, really dependable. Dont think i'll be shelling out for the new one though, im guessing it will be a disappointment matched to the original!
400 Suzuki not available until Sep, when I asked about ordering one. On your line of thinking, how far are the dealerships from me. Ducati = 70 miles round trip. Honda = 40 mile r\t. Kawasaki = 40 mile r\t. Suzuki = 7 mile r\t. Bmw = 100 mile r\t. Triumph = 30 miles r\t. Agree with many other posters. If the manufactures don't start building affordable bikes, like Triumph did with the 400. The dealers wont be around to sell anything.
It's the off-road style electric motorcycles like the Surron that are all the rage with the hoodie brigade around here. Totally illegal, but they look great fun.
I hated the GSA when it came out, so much so I thought it might be a joke, but I have to admit in real life it looks good, to big for me, but it does look really striking.
I’ve gone for an electric bicycle, a light weight 250 two stroke, a Pan European and a hybrid car. All bases covered… just waiting for some new taxes to upset the apple cart.
I love the look and idea of the maeving, and if I had a shed full of money I'd be tempted....but my enfield 350 commuter pops, bangs and barks through the gears, feels like a proper, substantial motorcycle, does 95mpg and cost me £3600! Kinda makes electric bikes pointless unless you REALLY need to be quiet!
I’m always interested in automatic gearboxes on motorbikes, as a disabled war veteran they keep people like me able to carry on enjoying motorcycles. I’d love to hear your honest opinion on a test ride of both the Yamaha and the new BMW autos
I am really interested in the drz 400 as I fancy giving a bit of green laneing a go, It looks great but just to warn you I found the seat height quite high when I sat on it at the bike show
@@TheMissendenFlyer the CRF 300 is still the same, when I sat on that I went through 3/4 of the suspension with just my weight which my dad took great delight in letting me know about!
I wrote before that my local BMW dealer had not sold a single 1300 GSA as of a few days ago while the remaining 1250 GSAs were almost gone. I, personally still don't like the looks. Internet will LIE to you but the actual Sales Volume will NOT. Even the sales numbers may be a Big Lie sometimes, as a Manufacturer I know, got fined by the SEC because they were pumping their sales numbers by Counting certain Retail Types (RDR) in the actual Sales numbers. What that means is Units would be sitting in the Dealer Lots while they were shown as Sold. Seen it all by now, therefore I don't buy BS especially from those who gets invited to FREE all inclusive trips to some exotic spots around the world.
Regarding the tidal wave of new BMW bikes for 2025. I will stick my neck out and say most, if not all, will be built on parallel production lines with the Chinese brands. You will effectively be buying a Chinese motorbike with a BMW badge. People will quickly suss this out, so the pricing had better be on the mark, if they think a blue and white badge carries a £2,000 mark up they are going to be bitterly disappointed.
RE BMW most are built in Germany and only the F twin engine and 310 bikes are made in China and BMW are replacing that with the German built 450 The vast majority of BMW s are built in Berlin
@@John-cz2peYou probably have been riding a bike with engine , components ,even whole bike knocked out by a Chinese factory already . Most established motorcycle companies have been sourcing Chinese manufactured components & even fully built bikes for years . The Chinese can build to any standard or price point required , they have the latest tech & machinery to achieve it .
As far as bus lanes are concerned they are administered by local councils and that is to do with why a government new or old would have issues with making it law for motorbikes to use them.
Hiya TMF I'm looking to upgrade from my AJS scrambler to the honda nx500 after i saw it on your channel a few months back, fell in love with the bike once i tried it at a dealership, would you recommend getting an a2 built bike or a higher cc bike tuned down to a2 compliance? Thanks
An interesting " Bike News" review, on the subject of the new BMW 1300 GSA, I actually saw one out on the road a couple of days ago and even in the real world it's still looks like "Lego" designed it, definitely was at the back of the queue when the looks were handed out. I do however like the look of their new 2025 F450 GS, and look forward to seeing it in the metal, I also like the look of the new KTM 1390 Super Duke GT and would love to take one for a test ride, as for KTM it would be a huge loss for both the motorcycle industry and bikers alike if they went under however I remain optimistic they will get their finances sorted and put the company back on its feet. Final note , I have been buying MCN for the best part of 5 decades now and will continue to do so until they put me in the wooden box.
Governments🙄. Here in Australia Motorbikes are allowed to use the Bus Lanes and there are no issues I’m aware of. We are also allowed to filter as is the UK so why not go all in?
Interesting that Honda with the electric drive supercharger, when taking his college engineering courses about 25 years ago my son built up just such a thing as a class project. It was never mounted on a vehicle but was fully functional on a test cart; it used a Roots blower but just as easily could have been a centrifugal. Perfect control of boost. Seems like a no-brainer but gas gearheads have a certain prejudice against all things electric, maybe the time has come?
I think the Triumph Speed Triple RR is being discontinued. Very low mileage used bikes are now half the new price, which puts them on my radar as a second bike! Shame about Bahnstormer Maidenhead. I bought the RnineT racer S you test rode from them.
I'd be interested in a RT1300 and the 450GS but as I also don't have a local BMW dealership anymore I don't buy bikes new without local support and without seeing them in the metal.
Yes having a local dealer is handy isn't it.....I no longer have a local BMW, Triumph, Suzuki or Yamaha Dealer - all those I used to have within 10 miles of me....all now closed down.
I think it will be several iterations of electric vehicles before they fully make sense, charger infrastructure needs to be there and I think hydrogen is the real step forward as a fuel cell could be carried into the house and power it for the evening (as shown on a James May programme sometime ago). It will take time but will get there I am sure.
Given city traffic congestion and some cities moving toward congestion pricing, I wonder what the government would say about these single rider electric motorcycles in bus lanes? To me, anytime you can get a full size passenger car off of a city street the better.
Regarding the electric bikes, I have found that an electric bicycle is better in town. Motorcycles are not allowed in bus lanes but bicycles are, therefore with the limited range of electric motorcycles I think it makes sense to use an electric bicycle.
I've already been in touch with Ducati to get a loan of one so we shall see - may wel be more practical on the road than my old 899 but the new one doesn't look as classy to my eyes (which is a shame).
I’ve always liked the Tracer and was considering for my next bike but the front side lights reminds me of a reliant robin, sorry….. now that I think that I can’t un-see it….
TMF, I know this is going to sound funny… but it is true the GSA looks much better in person than in photos. However, the 1250GSA is still a better looking and better feeling machine. I am 6’3” tall with 33 inseam 245 lbs. when riding the 1300GSA you feel like you are sitting “ON” the bike, whereas the 1250GSA has that sit “IN” feel.
The best Freudian slip: KTM Radar Craze Control 😆👍! Looking forward to Honda’s electric supercharged three cylinder, hopefully brings some “excitement” to the brand to combat the old joke…..Honda, the Japanese word for “Without Soul”. (Just kidding Honda fans 😉.)
Why would anyone listen to you reading from a newspaper?

Best value bike for 2025 and maybe bike of the year, the Honda Hornet 1000. £8999, a bargain. I hope you soon get to review it.
I’ve already asked!
As far as bus lanes are concerned they are administered by local councils and that is to do with why a government new or old would have issues with making it law for motorbikes to use them.
Hiya TMF
I'm looking to upgrade from my AJS scrambler to the honda nx500 after i saw it on your channel a few months back, fell in love with the bike once i tried it at a dealership, would you recommend getting an a2 built bike or a higher cc bike tuned down to a2 compliance? Thanks
I'd go higher spec tuned down to give you the option (in reality are they actually different??)
Good man.....me too!
It seems auto is the future as it was with cars 10/15 years ago, which I’m good with frankly ….
Governments🙄. Here in Australia Motorbikes are allowed to use the Bus Lanes and there are no issues I’m aware of.
We are also allowed to filter as is the UK so why not go all in?
Fact check. Some states allow motorbikes to use some bus lanes sometimes if so signed. Sadly I’ve never seen such a sign in West Oz.
Beats me!
DRZ 4S is 5 speed, but supposedly gear ratios have been changed.
@TheMissendenFlyer That's worse than me then. CFmoto dealers are popping up though.....
yes, my favorite bike news is here.
That means another month has passed. The missender flyer bike news is my calendar.
Come around quick don’t they!
2 batteries in the Honda if Lion would be lighter than 1 lead acid battery???
I think it will be several iterations of electric vehicles before they fully make sense, charger infrastructure needs to be there and I think hydrogen is the real step forward as a fuel cell could be carried into the house and power it for the evening (as shown on a James May programme sometime ago). It will take time but will get there I am sure.
Given city traffic congestion and some cities moving toward congestion pricing, I wonder what the government would say about these single rider electric motorcycles in bus lanes? To me, anytime you can get a full size passenger car off of a city street the better.
Great show Andy. Shame about KTM tho.
Isn't it just.....
Regarding the electric bikes, I have found that an electric bicycle is better in town. Motorcycles are not allowed in bus lanes but bicycles are, therefore with the limited range of electric motorcycles I think it makes sense to use an electric bicycle.
As I said I think....
i think there is a tracer 9 YMCA as well :P
I’d still buy a KTM.
If we all do maybe they will survive!
Oh great, now I’m going to be awake all night making my top ten list 😩
You can do it!
Is it time for you to get a new Panigale V2? It’s more comfortable than the previous model
I've already been in touch with Ducati to get a loan of one so we shall see - may wel be more practical on the road than my old 899 but the new one doesn't look as classy to my eyes (which is a shame).
Il stick with my v4 Honda 1200x Dct Crosstourer. Too much tech to go wrong in the new bikes in my opinion.
I’ve always liked the Tracer and was considering for my next bike but the front side lights reminds me of a reliant robin, sorry….. now that I think that I can’t un-see it….
Yeah, electric bikes are ok for the Isle of Wight. Fast enough and enough range. I would have one if the prices were lower.
Yes true....
Yes itis the same with the standard GS 1300 v 1250.
19:43 !?!? What's the beastly noise? 😂
Some sort of troll correcting my pronunciation of Acropovic....
I’m surprised CF MOTO in china hasn’t snatched KTM up yet. After Motorola, IBM, MG, Moto Moroni, etc, KTM might be the next target.
