    Test rode this exact model today in the blue and I have to say wow, what a lovely bike! I was interested in the Leoncino 500 to be honest and thought I’d have a go on this to at least experience the engine and general quality of the new Benellis.
    This is £500 more but I’m pretty much sold on it. Comfortable, smooth and plenty fast enough for this 65 year old.
    Tour of the beautiful UK here I come!

    Great down to earth review. I test rode the 502 a few years ago when they were first released here in Australia. I placed an order for a 2022 model last Friday. At 61 I'm a mature age rider and feel the midrange 500s are ideal Solo machines for Touring. I'll be having the Givi made alloy Panniers fitted too. At 184 cm and 130 kg this Bike fits me like glove!

    hi Mark. i own a TRK . have ridden it for 15 K., some of it off road. i totally agree with the review. my longest ride of the day was 12 hours or so. very comfortable and not a back breaker. i have put knobby tires on mine and go off road and on hilly trails. it has never let me down

    Great review again. It's nice to see a British review by an experienced unbiased rider. I bought an X version as a temporary ride before buying the new Africa Twin Sport. However the Benelli turned out to be such a good bike and I was so happy with it I could not justify the extra expense of the Africa Twin. So I'm still happily touring on my Benelli. I think pound for pound it has to be one of the best value bikes in the UK today.

    • @BikeRiderReviews
      @BikeRiderReviews 3 года назад +9

      @@pswmetalmonkey That reputation of breaking down is now pretty much dated and out of touch with the standard of bikes coming out of China today. This is proven by the fact that the big Western manufacturers now are having their bikes built in China. A lot of riders are very quick to jump on the band wagon with comments of its Chinese so it's s##t but I would like to know how many have actually ridden one of the latest bikes from China. Ride safe 👍

    • @JamesLoudMouth19981
      @JamesLoudMouth19981 3 года назад +1

      @@BikeRiderReviews Plenty of people have ridden them and they’re still shit. Just because bigger Bike companies now do SOME of their manufacturing in China doesn’t mean that Chinese brand bikes are automatically held to the same build quality, they are not. Plus you’ve not even mentioned trying to find Garages in the UK that will have spares for any of these Chinese bikes or have the know how to fix them, the closest Benelli one from me is over 25 miles away, which would mean if I owned a Benelli I’d have to rent a van to get it there as I’m too far away for them to do a pick up service. They have a stigma attached to them for a reason, yes it could be argued that some Chinese bikes now break the cycle and stand to be somewhat decent bikes but on the whole most of them aren’t and there isn’t a big enough infrastructure in this country to support them with the likes of repairs. Maybe in the future they will be better but for now as it was before they’re still rightly viewed by most of the UK motorbike scene as cheap, unreliable pieces of shit.

    • @BikeRiderReviews
      @BikeRiderReviews 3 года назад +7

      @@JamesLoudMouth19981 I'm sorry but you are completely out of touch with the market. You do nit need a benelli dealer to maintain your bike. I live in the middle of the countryside in the Scottish Borders, the nearest city is 70 miles away the nearest big town 40 miles away and yet I have 3 different bike shops located in nearby small villages/market towns which have no problem obtaining parts by Internet and working on the bike. Have you ever owned a Benelli recently or even ridden one recently? Or are you just forming your opinions on what you read or see on the Internet. If so it's like saying you had a mobile phone in the 80's where you had to carry a battery the size of brief case and because of this all mobile phones are shit. Too many people on the Internet are happy to put false information out about products or bikes which they have zero experience of actually using or riding. My opinions are formed from fact based experience of currently owning Japanese and Chinese bikes, not from listening to a bloke who works down the chip shop who swears he is Elvis. Ride safe buddy 👍

    Have had my 502x for 15 months...
    Pros.
    It's fun. So far reliable and sound engine. Incredibly comfortable to ride (I'm 6'1" and 15 St so went for the X due to better ride height) it's fun. Good fuel economy. Cheap. Its fun.
    Cons.
    Agricultural feel (nothing flashy about this). Under no circumstances drop the bloody thing - I did doing 5mph in cold/wet weather and couldn't get the bastard upright (had luggage and mostly full tank fuel). Touch of vibration when revving. Don't know if I'm being pissy but my SV 1000 didn't have this at similar speeds.
    All in all its great and glad I bought it.. 😁

    So I bought one of these and it's been great, see earlier comment, had a slight tumble in the rain, the crash bars work really well, doing 39/35mph just needed a new crash bar, left side, gear selector and scuffed the foot peg, and side stand,no other damage. 👍 It's well made. The shad 3p frame system got a tiny scuff too. Lucky I didn't have the boxes on!. Still got me home, I'm getting 65mpg too, more when sliding 😁.

    Mark... you made my day!!
    I'm getting back into riding after a looooong hiatus.
    Have done a ton of research (yeah, I'm that guy) and had been pretty settled on the CB500X. Everyone who knew anything about bikes thought it was the best solution for my situation (62yr, 6'2", 250lb). Just want to do some countryside touring to get away from my daily life at the hospital. I didn't even have the Benelli in my sights.
    Only problem.... good luck finding a CB500X, or much else where I live for that matter! Both the new and used markets are really lean right now.
    On a whim, I drove 60 miles to a dealer that looked like they still had some selection and had NO INTENTION of buying anything--hell, I don't have any gear or even taken the MSF to get my endorsement back and relearn some basic skills.
    They had one TRK502 (had already sold 2 others) and it really caught my eye. Comfortable seat, good ergo and literally EVERYTHING you mentioned in this terrific vid. Suffice to say.... they don't have any 502s left. I bought right off the floor as I had a sense this opportunity wouldn't come around again and I would regret the delay.
    Your vid has cemented the accuracy of my 6th-sense. I am even more energized and excited to move through the process and get it on some country roads for the fall riding season.
    Keep these great videos coming. They are much appreciated!!

      Thought I would give an update on the TRK.
      This bike IS A BEAST!! And it's not even the -X version.
      I just completed 3100+ miles and 189K vertical feet (15 ride days out of 18) throughout New England.
      I was on mostly roads, some "not-so-much roads" and a couple of "what-the-hell-is-a-road" roads. After getting in the groove, anything under 200 miles was considered a short day. Real-life MPG was unbelievably between 55-61mpg. I couldn't believe it!! There were a few long, open sections that I wished for a bit more grunt but, overall, the bike performed flawlessly. You can check out my rides on REVER if you use that app.
      I have had a new sport -tourer on order for 7 months (Suzuki GSX S1000 GT+) that has just arrived. It's a sweet ride but totally different and I'm DEFINITELY not getting rid of Pyrat.
      Looks like I have succumbed to the dreaded "garage-full-of-bikes" malady! Never been happier!

    I just bought the TRK502 three weeks ago. It's a solid bike, has road presence, good acceleration, and very stable on the road. It's heavy @235kg acceptable. It's not a top-end bike but it's fair enough for the price. The quality has improved slightly compared to the 2018/19 model. All factors held constant......it's a good buy. These look good bikes and fair play to you Mark for doing reviews on less popular brands. I've seen a review on the 502 before and I'm sure it was considerably heavier at 235kg. My main concern if buying one would be that residuals would be very poor on resale.

      @@markpulling12 As more good quality bikes from China especially over say 400 CC appear then a reasonable resale market will establish itself. It may not be as high as the Japanese and European bikes in resale value but then as the bikes are less expensive it will be relative. One of the biggest complaints has been Chinese bikes just copying including sometime hole engines, however companies like CF Moto have said that they are now developing their own and as we know they are now using the same stylists as KTM. (Benelli though these days are Chinese owned their HQ still appears to be in Italy so I imagine the Italians have some input in design and development.)
      Hyosung (South Korea) came out with their 650 several years ago with basically the same engine as the SV650 and very similar bike though unfortunately they don't appear to have updated that for some time and is still Euro4 from what I saw and to a degree was let down by the paintwork, and rust certainly in the earlier period. (Hyosung used to make complete engines for the SV650 and later I believe they did complete bikes for Suzuki though not sure if either of those arrangements still exists.)

Nothing else was anywhere near as comfortable or natural feeling for me. I did feel that it was a little on the high side for me, but that could well be due to the way it was displayed. Just commenting on the reliability of the brand. I bought a new 2017 Benelli TnT 300 in 2018. Think the bike is now called 302 S. Just inspection and routine maintenance throughout the years. I'm here in the States and more existing dealers are adding Benelli to their dealerships. Was looking to move up and this bike was on the top of the list but a 2015 Versys 1000 became available and bought it. If the Versys didn't come along I would have bought the 502. Rumor has it a new 800 cc engine is coming down the road for this bike.

    Hi Mark, I bought my TRK502 in January, 21 plate with only 373 miles on it. Great bike, no doubt, however, probably as we all do, still casually looking. Your review of the new Voge DSX525 has blown we away. What I can't understand is the difference you quote in legal speed cruising revs. The TRK doors 70 mph at around 6000 whereas the Voge is quoted to do it at 5. The Benelli seems to ever so slightly best the torque figure but the biggest difference is Tge dry weight, but just surprised at the size of the difference. Really would appreciate your feedback. Please keep up the good work and most importantly stay safe. Kind regards David Rutherford.

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  3 месяца назад

      Hi David yes simply all bikes are geared differently...the trk 70 mph /6 k rpm voge is at 5 k rpm...the voge feels much lighter than the trk ...I did 3000 miles on the trk 502 it's brilliant but the voge is excellent 👍

    Hi Mark, love your reviews...good to see you're reviewing Chinese bike lately, especially the Benelli TRK 502 and the Cfmoto 650MT. Two bikes I have been very interested in, but must admit I I'm leaning more towards TRK 502 after watching your review, I have heard/read a lot of positive comments about the bike... build quality comfort styling and performance. I am very interested in the TRK 800 although I'm not sure if it's come to the UK or not, if you have any news on that it would be good to know, and good if you could get your hands on one for a review...anyway keep making the videos and I'll keep watching.

This seems Iike a heck of a lot of bike for the price. I’ve just seen a 2022 one on Marketplace for $6500 (they’re $10k new) and it’s only done 570km: bloke used it to get his license. 😮 So very tempted. 😅

    Hi Mark enjoyed your video as always. I really enjoyed your 2016 cb500x video in fact I bought one on the strength of that and its an awesome bike! I have always liked the styling of the trk 502 and want to ask as I'm 5'6 with a 30 inch inseam with my boots on how you'd think I'd get on etc. I am an experienced rider and have had a number of bikes! Cheers Rob

    Italian engineering flair, made in China, China being the the upcoming Japan, as regards quality and reliability. Good time to benefit from the money saving, with increasing quality.

      Impressed with Benelli however everything I have bought from major manufacturers made in China has been total crap.
      From household appliances , garden tools to computers all total crap.
      For example Black and Decker tools made in England last for 15 plus years.
      Same replacement made in China your lucky to get 12 months.
      All components cheap crap.
      In my opinion.
      I wish it could be different however the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

      @@janschkeuditz6065 I am sure that is the case in the majority of cases, but it is becoming apparent that with some chines manufactures, a paradigm shift is occuring, where quality products can be had at cheap prices. It is what happened with Japan in the 50's and 60's.

    • @janschkeuditz6065

      @@davidmallia628 I doubt that , Japan is a different kettle of fish.
      Japan was always known for quality products , whether it was engineering ,household goods including crockery to toys.
      I have many examples at home regarding the time period you mentioned.
      One big difference here is that China is using European brands and destroying their reputation for quality right across all sectors of production.
      India would be a better example where British industry has continued to relocate since Queen Victoria times.
      However the quality never dropped as badly as Chinese junk.
      Hong Kong and Taiwan being the exception.
      Nothing personal just wish we would ban their inferior imports that break right out the box .
      A bit like Lancia rust buckets in the 70s & 80s.

    Had a BMW r1200gs before I bought the Benelli, TRK502x, the BMW had lots of issues, and was bloody expensive to fix, on saying that it was 14 years old, I quite like this bike, yes it down on power, but I soon got use to that, yes it is heavy for a 500, but I like that, it feels planted on the road.
    The seat height is up a bit on the X which some might find that a problem, I don’t and I’m 5”9, but am use to big bikes, I also own a Triumph 2300cc Rocket 111, my only complaint is at motorway speeds it’s a bit buzzy through the foot pegs, hoping this go away when I finish running it in,

    You sure about that 'ready to ride' weight, Mark. Specs sheets have it at around 235kg, not 215.
    What do they build them out of, lead?

      Hi Lou....the story goes ...I actually read a report somewhere in which somebody weighed one wet and it was about 215 kg and said that the manufacturer was a bit off in their measurement ...so I went with 215 kg in my report ....it feels about that to push about
