    This has blown my tiny mind! is this something that should be done (ideally) on all engines? it looks like an absolute nightmare especially if you dont have enough knowledge. Fantastic video though and really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to it.

      @@creepyhero84 some engines the followers are self adjusting or they are adjustable which makes life easier but if you have a bucket setup or bucket and shim setup then yeah should be done if replacing cams or if the top end gets tappy and no problem at all I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video

      The one thing which I’m struggling to understand is how the camchain adjuster is pushed back in and then retained? I see how you release it but not how you then push it back in under tension? Thanks.

    • @6uiltdifferent
      @6uiltdifferent  3 месяца назад

      @huwdavies7503 once the tensioner is released you rotate the engine backwards then place a locking pin in the engine all the steps are in the video trust me

    Releasing the tensioner trick, do you not risk messing the timing up if you're rotating the crank?

    • @6uiltdifferent
      @6uiltdifferent  7 месяцев назад +1

      No because with the marker on the pulley and timing case you can tell if things are off straight away as that locking pin will tell you when you’re at tdc so if that pulley doesn’t line up you’ll know plus you can use a screwdriver down the spark plug hole to be certain if you do t trust it but I’ve done it this way many times with no issue plus these engines don’t require much force to spin them over and the crank pulleys self tighten so you’ll never get them off with just a ratchet, but with the taking cams out the timing has technically gone anyways so you’ve got to re set it when you refit it so it doesn’t really matter

    Did you actually managed to loosen the tension on the change via the t30 who and using an m6 bolt? Looked like it was being a pain and when you did take the cam sprockets off the chain looked tensioned? Only asking as I’m currently trying to do stem seals and having a ball ache trying to de tension the chain 🤦‍♂️

      @@carlalmquest7985 either way works however I find using that torx screwdriver works well it’s way smaller than a t30 maybe a t10 or something and yeah the chain holds tension until you crack off one of the cam pulleys so don’t be alarmed you’ll know when you’ve locked the tensioner back as you won’t be able to pull the screwdriver out unless you yank it hope this helps

      @@6uiltdifferentnice one, thanks mate. Yes have everything ready to go to do it in place with air compressor to hold the valves. Hopefully will go ok. Just the chain that I wasn’t 100% confident with, especially when you’re trying to do the tensioner blind 🤣. I have been trying a small flat head and was long and bendable, so plenty of length to reach in. Will see if I can find a longer torx like the one you had 👍

      @@carlalmquest7985 no worries mate and good Atleast you’re not giving yourself extra work, it is a bit worrying at first but once you’ve done a couple you feel more confident .even if you have a long pick as the cosworth guide shows them using one of those so that may work for you aswell let us know how you get on 👍🏻

    Did someone rebuild the top end of this with the wrong bucket sizes? Or were the sizes correct but over time things have worn out so needs different sized buckets?

    • @6uiltdifferent
      @6uiltdifferent  7 месяцев назад +2

      It had 16 new valves when I was doing the engine rebuild as the old ones were badly pitted and some even bent I just didn’t get time to go and do the clearances long story and I know it’s not a great excuse but generally these don’t wear clearances only change when you change something
