Thank you @KennethMagara for providing the answer to disabling this service. Simply tap on the account icon in the top right and choose "sign out"
Hello, I have a problem with the Authenticator program. When I want to log in to my Discord account, I put the code, and the code appears to be wrong and incorrect. I am sure that I have entered the correct code.

why sign out ?
I never had the option to sign in without account. Like you I have a cloud on the right and some accounts when i click on the profile picture. Is this ok?If not how can i sign in without account?I wll not lose my codes right?

Thank You Crypto Dad. Nice information of every one.
Thanks rex you just saved me hours of moving things instead I spent 5 seconds hitting the other option, good video as always Rex
only choose the bottom option or more things sign out ?
It begins 🙂The question is how long this will be an option. Thank you for your video!
Once again, I'm setting here like what 2 do....crypto dad always got the answer, thanks Rex
Hey... Thanks you so much CryptoDad ! It is such a blessing watching your videos everytime you release a new one ! I have already proceeded with the new upgrade without paying attention on the other available option. I hope Google won't sell it's soul to the Devil and mess the workd up ! How to go and set back to the Authenticator Without an Account ?
Thanks!
thank you 👌👍
I would love to see someone explain why the lack of end to end encryption is a bad thing. It seems like people gloss over it in these videos.
Cloud backup is ok as long as you have a Yubikey as an option. Physical security authentication should be in everything now these days for final verification
since the upgraded version, is it automatic for them to be backed up by google? Or is it automatic that we would have had to press something to get them backed up by google?
What happens when it says saved to cloud backup? I want to delete it i have them wrote down already (the codes)
Hi, what if I choose not to use Cloud syncing. When I backup my phone locally are all the codes in authenticator backed up also?
Awe shucks. I set up Cloud backup without thinking... just wanted to get rid of another nerd upgrade.
I have really bad anxiety how the do i delete these codes from my google backup?
I've been using:
- FreeOTP
- Authy
- Google Authenticator
- MS Authenticator
And out of four....my prefered it FreeOTP.
Anyways....2FA is a must these days and IF you are able to have U2F too, then you should be golden :)
Hello Cryptodad I saw this app on my phone(android) and I deleted, Because i thought it was something else, reinstalled back but i can not see none off my codes for all my accounts. please any help
what is strange to me is that they give u the amount of codes but only one code and not the info of what email/site its for, how would they know which one is for which (the hacker that is)
Hi Rex, Great video, as usual! I went through the process to change my no longer valid email associated with coinbase, went through the 48 hrs verification process w my passport, set up an new Google authenticator, but saved to the cloud. So, I clicked the cloud and disabled cloud bkup. Then I created another gg authy, but still did not show my recovery code? Where do I find this? Thank you!
this is a great feature if your using it for anything but crypto .. google authenticator codes are only on your device.. i was thinking that maybe if you had a yubikey and locked down your google account it would be ok .. but the problem is that if someone did gain access to your account then there goes your security with the other accounts that are linked to the authenticator .. it was only last month linus had his channel compromise where the hacker didn't need any passwords because google sync's your credentials to make it convenient when using the platform .. a bad PDF was the attack vector in the end .. best way to keep yourself safe is to not put yourself in harm's way in the first place.. if you do want to back up your authenticator then take these steps 1) take one of your old phone's and download the authenticator 2) make sure there is no sim in the phone 3) disconnected from your wifi 4) go to wifi settings and forget all wifi networks 5) turn on airplane mode 6) launch app and do your back up 7) Never go online with that back up again .. and remember never trade convenience for security ..
Hello, but if a hacker got hold of your Google Authenticator codes for your other accounts, wouldn’t they still need your username and passwords to actually log in??
Hi I am Bipin from Nepal.
I keep getting this message in my Google authenticator "Syncing will continue when your device is online and you refresh your Authenticator codes"
I just can't figure out what is the issue. It would be great if you make a video addressing this issue.
A lot of people are having the same issue in Reddit but there is no solution.
👏👏👏
i logged in to my gmail, apparently i was using the authenticator without an account, so when i logged to my gmail account after the update i lost access to all my codes, is there a way to get them back or i just simply lost them all?
I NEED HELP :(
Will deleting a google account off authentication app delete the codes?
It updated by itself, and the codes I had on the Google auth app previously are not showing up. How do I get my old google auth codes?
Did you find out? im facing same problem!
one thing that i dont see anywhere which i experienced (and its not very uncummon to happen), i deleted accidentally a temporary code and now i cant recover it! is there any way this could be done? everyone is talking about the authenticator app recover, but not the temporary codes which are sync to the websites you activated them from by scanning the QR code. can i get help on this? thanks in advance
Same problem i am facing, did you get the solution? Kindly let me know. Thanks
@@amjadiqbal9890 there is no solution, i talked to the support of the service where i activated the authentication option. After providing the info to prove i eas the owner of the account, they reseted it and i was able to activate again on the authenticator app as it was the first time. But is a big flaw from authenticator app.
Thank you Rex...... I always recommend TheCryptoDad to my friends.... awesome guy.
No wander my partner can’t use his data without wifi I can see now what the problem is
Hello cryptodad, if you has Been to fast and pressed “continue as” instead of “ use Authenticator without” Can you reverse it? 😅
Ok you Can just turn it of in settings nice😂
@@andreasbirk5780 do you have the option with the backupcodes now? what i noticed is the backup codes are not linked to any account (its a blank code) so how would a hacker or even i know which is which? just try all i guess?
Google has WAY to much of my info already. Remember in 2018 they removed their motto, "Don't be evil." I'll stick with Authy. Authy has a desktop version that syncs with the mobile app.
What if you lost your Google authenticator because you deleted it . Then got another phone? I can get it back so hard
For now google just put a target on its back
I DID NOT enable, yet woke up this morning to find it synced to the cloud. I suppose there is nothing that can be done to reverse this?
You can sign out by tapping the account icon in the top right. But yeah I’m assuming Google has your codes backed up somewhere now and they’ll probably be there for years to come. I don’t know that there’s any way you can request that they delete your data. You might try this: support.google.com/websearch/troubleshooter/3111061?hl=en
@@CryptoDad hi. old google auth code there was not sign out icon ?
Were you able to delete it?
Short answer is NO. No cloud backups, use your own backup encrytped devices to store the codes.
Im always suspicious of Google with their incomplete security software. It 's not very hard to complete a secure product unless there are other motives at hand. My opinion.
How do you undo it if you already signed up?
That I don't know. You could try tapping on the account icon in the top right corner and see if there is a "disconnect" command or something like that. But like I said, it is relatively safe. And we are talking about Google here. I'm sure they have robust security. So no need to freak out. It is just something I don't recommend. However, even if you are able to unsubscribe to this feature, there is no guarantee that Google will delete your data.
If you can figure out how to disconnect, you could then go to each of your accounts (Coinbase, Binance, etc.) and disable 2fa. After that, you could re-enable and you will get new codes.
@@CryptoDad I did the same, it automatically synced and everything went to the cloud. I've since made it to work without an account. Guess I'll need to use my old phone and redo all my 2fa over to that phone just so I have one less thing to worry about.
@@LeeHughes21 yes if you still have a bunch of codes on your old phone, you can easily import them into a clean version on your new phone
@@CryptoDad Thanks but what about what's in the cloud? Is simply transferring codes to a new phone enough? Many thanks
@@LeeHughes21 well to be perfectly safe you would want to go to each account you have protected by your Authenticator app and disable two factor authentication. (Using your old phone, if it’s still has the current codes) Then then you can re-enable two factor authentication using your current clean version of google authenticator( if I understand correctly, you have deleted and reinstalled it clean on the new phone.)
Hi crypo dad i already accept google to back up MY AUTHENTIFICATOR so how can i reverse that please
go back on top of the icon and press the word ,sign in without account
@@KennethMagara is it now the word use without an account?
where should we find the backed up codes?
can we send our 24 phrases into this google authenticator? I am wondered 😮
This has nothing to do with your crypto 24 word seed phrases. This is only for your Google codes.
I think he is being sarcastic 😂
they dont save your back up codes for any of the 2fa's you have but only your 10 codes you have through your gmail accounts
i just realised if they get access to your gmail they have access to your other accounts too, silly me, how can i turn it off?
@@jamiebury1807 you basically just tap the connection icon again and it disconnects. God knows how much information they sucked up when you did that. But we’re talking about Google here anyway. They already know everything about you just from your Gmail correspondence. The hamburger menu up in the top left has the Manuel export. I use that to export my codes to my old phone. Then I turn it off and just put it in a drawer in case something happens to my current phone.
@CryptoDad- How would you address a lost or replaced iphone and not able to obtain codes from old phone?
@CryptoDad- What are the steps to obtaining codes from lost/replaced iphone?
There is no way to retrieve codes from your authenticator, if you have lost your phone, unless you did a backup, which I'm assuming you did not. At that point, the only thing you can do is attempt to recover access to all of the counts that you had secured with your authenticator.
