Ah finally! You are digging gold!!! Irrfan and the director Anup Singh collaborated together for another fabulous film - Songs of Scorpions. It has done rounds of all the prominent film festivals abroad back in 2016/2017. And the movie would have a theatrical release this year as a tribute to Irrfan❤️. At least that's what was announced. Irrfan in that movie is a sight to behold ❤️❤️❤️
A must watch. Watch it asap guys. It's on MUBI platform which is much better than Netflix in terms of world cinema collection and has all the great critically acclaimed movies from across the globe. Please check this movie out asap. Thanks :)
Yeah, it's a Punjabi language movie. But it's an Indo-German collaboration. Anup Singh is from a Sikh family but was born in Tanzania. His work often encompasses folklore with a surreal feel. This one almost didn't get made because he couldn't find backers to go along on this ride with him. It's interesting but a bit twisted. Definitely in the art arena and not commercial. Kinda the opposite of what you hear parents of a gender non conforming kid might do .. he's forcing gender non conforming behavior on his kid. And there is more .. just read the full title.

I don't think the father has a psychological issue. It's more of a cultural issue. In some cultures, like in Afghanistan, it's common practice for women to be raised as men. For them, a son represents the future prosperity of the family. Girls are seen as temporary guests.

@ourstupidreactions I have a question. I am an American Indian Film fan since the late 80's. I am about to watch my 550th film. A brilliant premise. Mesmerizing execution. Mercurial performances from Irfan, tilottama, Rasika dugal and Tisca Chopra. The kind of film Rick would love to wax eloquent on for hours. A lot of food for thought. It was a limited release. Not widely noticed. It's an Indo-German co production.

He even did marriage to his daughter as son to a girl as the same way they showed in the movie... But later when truth is revealed she struggled hard to convince people and fought with kingdoms and finally became queen...
