    I remember waking up at 4AM and actually not being able to breathe, my asthma was bad for a few days due to a chest infection but this one really hit hard I am SO glad my father lived a few minutes from the hospital compared to the 50 minutes from my main house to there. I was in hospital for two weeks.
    In PE I also got one just as bad, but never went to fucking hospital and was extremely lucky. The teacher said I was trying to skip out on the class even though I couldn't even speak in a full sentence my air limit wouldn't even allow it.
    Severe Asthma IS a serious thing, it CAN HAS and WILL kill if not treated.

    Bending forward can make some people's asthma worse, especially if they are wearing any clothes with a waistband. It's best to check if it makes it better for them first. Not all asthmatics wheeze but a non-wheezing attack can be just as serious. I find that people often start talking a lot even when they are clearly breathless. It's important to make them sit down and stop talking. I've also seen people take their inhaler and then try and carry on. You need to rest and not talk for a few minutes afterwards.

    • @Blacksquareable
      @Blacksquareable 9 лет назад +4

      I would personally ring emergency services - I really wouldn't mess around at this point. In the meantime trying to get someone to relax and try and breathe in a bit more slowly can help as during an attack you suck in air.

    • @likeacatsspm
      @likeacatsspm 8 лет назад +4

      It's not advised for asthmatics to use a paper bag. While warm air is easier on the airways it doesn't replace the effect of inhaled medication.
      If you're in a situation where the casualty doesn't have medication on them it's best to call emergency services to be safe.
      Cycling breathing into a bag with regular breathing can be indicated if it's a panic attack where the carbon dioxide levels in the blood drop.

      Yeah asthma attacks can cause confusion and anxiety which leads patients to try talking and explaining what happened and what they're feeling. I agree sometimes I aget wheezing and sometimes I don't, it depends on you knowing your body and recognizing an attack early on.

    At 18 I had my very first asthma attack last night and didn't know what was happening. My inhalers were downstairs and I was in a very old house. Trying to go down a few flights of stairs whilst feeling faint and not being able to breathe was the worst part, my friends had all left except 1 and if it weren't for him being there to help me I don't want to know what could have happened!

    Some researchers think that it might be the interaction of different vitamins, minerals, and other antioxidants that naturally occur in foods that have the health benefits. Therefore, it’s unlikely that taking vitamins, minerals, or other food supplements will improve your asthma control and prevent symptoms of asthma.

    I was born with severe asthma. I've had attacks that have almost killed me and the only thing that saved me were paramedics and the E.R. I suffer from something called 'airway reconstruction'that happens when an asthma gets so severe, you try and force breathing which causes tearing I'm the lungs. The lungs then heal but leave huge patches of scar tissue, altering the shape of the airway or damaging it permanently. This makes breathing much more difficult in general, even without having an attack. But through my youth I exercised, built up my lungs, and was able to play starring positions in football, basketball, and lacrosse. While doing karate simultaneously. Asthma fuckin' sucks, but it is extremely manageable with medications and excersise. Don't get me wrong, I'd still have horrible asthma attacks while playing sports, but not as frequently snd since my lungs were so much healthier, they handled the last of air much better.

    I never cough but have difficulty breathing, and go into survival mode and I don’t even have a power to cough, I just concentrate on breath as much as I can and drink water when i can but again, it’s hard, but it ends after 2, 3 hours. I went to a hospital once, didn’t know what it was. Got an inhaler, and I was good to go. I know what triggers but a doctor says it might be an asthma attack but never confirmed. I had asthma when I was a kid, I no longer carry a inhaler around since then, I wonder if it something else like an allergic reaction. Does everyone cough? I can’t even cough when it happens.

    To test the validity of the scientific discovery made by us almost 30 years ago, it takes 30 seconds of time: offer an asthmatic hyperventilation - he will have a suffocation attack, offer to reduce breathing - will relieve the attack. The cause of the asthma attack is hyperventilation of the lungs, no one said this before our scientific research. And so I have been asking scientists for 30 years to spend 30 seconds to check this (1986).

      This might be a late response, but it could be an anxiety attack. I've had bad anxiety for nearly 10 years, and I've experienced many panic attacks where by breathing is affected. Especially if I get out of breath, or I'm out of shape. But whether it's anxiety or asthma, the best thing you can do for yourself is exercise.

After taking tablets i got better after 1 or 2 hours then i sleep peacefully. God i will never forget that worst day. 😐

    Question to anyone with asthma or experience: I've been sick with a serious serious cough for going on five weeks now. My father had asthma most of his life. I, just now, got sent into a fit of coughing where I could not breath. It happened a couple minutes ago actually and my heart is still pounding and I'm still trying to breathe right. While it was happening, I drooled a lot of salvia onto my sleeve. I don't know if that counts for anything. My doctor said I could have asthma if my medicine didn't work in the next ten days and it's been at least 8-10. Does this sound like asthma??? I've also been loosing my voice and if I try and talk or talk loudly I'll go into one of these fits. Just trying to figure out if I need to go to the doctor again... Thanks for any advice/ help.

    Im very sure that one day I will die from asthma. Because inhealer couldn't help me anymore. when I'm getting older my lung getting weak n couldn't work as strong as before to absorb inhaler gas.
    I may not reach hospital in time. It happened a lot. People die in the parking lot. At home. I witnessed it already.

    The blue ventline is not asthma medicine.by using exessively your heart rate goes up. You can be in trouble. You have to have the actual medication.

    i don't know if it was asthma or what (i hope not) but once i was in the woods with my mom and i heard dogs barking,i was like oh ok. then i tought they were getting louder and i started to panic,and breathe quickly,and while i was doing that,my neck started to tighten up and it was kinda hard to breathe,my mom got angry at me for freaking out XD
    could you please tell me if it was asthma or not? it happens VERY VERY rarely,mostly when i panic. it happens like once a year,if not longer.

    • @carolmontgomery1771

      Pizza cutter sounds more like a panic attack. if you have asthma which would be untreated ie no inhaler etc you would suffer shortness off breath coughing etc more frequently

    To those asthmatics, you should be thankful you're still alive and can manage it, not by complaining all the time that it is uncomfortable.

    Asthma is a disease of the lips. As long as I had chronic asthma I had no feeling for the relaxation of my lung airways by reflex when breathing through my nose and holding lips together. The cure came with getting the right lung opening sensation on pulling myself together.
