    I'm glad I found this video and it makes sense.... Winning their trust and not rushing to actual trimming. Patience pays off. I'm going to buy this treat... Gooooey stuff. Then will start .

    I'm a first time cat mom, and have been struggling with figuring out how to trim nails, but this really helped break down how to get your cat used to it! Other guides I had seen had mostly shown the end result of a calm cat getting their nails trimmed, so I'm glad I found you with the process. Just did my first session with my kitty, just touching paws, and he seemed to be more comfortable with me touching paws by the end! Excited to see how this goes

    I just adopted 2 cats, a momma and her kitten, and I haven't worked up the courage to try nail trims yet. Thank goodness I watched your video before traumatizing my cats! It was great to see it broken down into small steps. Thank you for sharing this.
    I have to admit the pain of the kitten climbing up my legs is something I won't miss.

      @@JenniferCatpurr Thanks. I've adopted pets in pairs before, but I have to admit I felt especially good about keeping this mom with one of her babies. The mom is only 1 yr. old, so they play together a lot.
      I'm handling their paws a lot, but they're still not comfortable enough for any clipping.

    It’s been so long! Glad you’ve uploaded again! I remember watching your videos a year a two ago when I got my first cat and thanks to you I’ve trained her to sit on command which makes feeding her so much easier because I can just have her sit down instead of trying to knock the food out of my hand 😂

    • @JenniferCatpurr
      @JenniferCatpurr  2 года назад +1

      It's the same concept as the front, but typically slower. It tends to take cats longer to get used to it.

    Great video. My cats do not have the curling in grown type nails that need trimming. However they are very small and sharp on some of them. I have two cats that like to claw up furniture even after a lot of focus n training. Do you think trimming claws help reduce their sharpness and damage potential to furniture? Or do you think that it might deter them from scratching if trimmed?

    • @JenniferCatpurr
      @JenniferCatpurr  2 года назад +1

      Yes, trimming claws helps mitigate damage to things like furniture. They have scent glands in between their paw pads and will scratch regardless of a claw trim. I'm glad you like the video!

    • @JenniferCatpurr
      @JenniferCatpurr  4 года назад +3

      I hope you're okay! Try a very light, quick touch next time followed immediately by a treat, or if you think he'll still react negatively to that, start with putting your hand close to his paw without touching it so he feels more comfortable. Also watch his body language - try to do this when he's most relaxed. Purrs!
