Despite the turbo and AWD, Mazda didn't have the STi or the Evo in mind. They actually had their sights set on BMW's M3, but the MS6 wound up in the octagon with the the Legacy 2.5 GT Spec B.
I love my speed 6. Just don't expect them to be cheap. I bought mine for a great deal and the motor blew less than 500 miles after. The previous owner probably knew something was going on and got rid of it. I got a brand new motor in mine and it's an amazing car!
WOT at 2K? This isn't a review, it's a Hey, I just got a boosted car. Look at me. I have had my Speed6 for 6 years now. It is not Mazdas answer the STI or Evo. It's more along the lines of WRX and Audi B4 S4. Turbo does spool quick, and handling, overall, is quite responsive. Overall a great car for highway speeds, and hill turns and curves. Especially fun during the snowfall! :-)
How would can I check for turbo shaft play? Do I have to remove the turbo or can I check it with the turbo in the car? Im looking to buy a ms6 but Ive heard of there is shaft play I shouldn't buy it
wot = wide open throttle. You never give the car a lot of gas when your RPM's are low, you'll be building a lot of boost inside of a motor that is not operating at a speed capable of matching it, and things will break.
the ms6s awd is fwd bias. 100 fwd while cruising or until the system detects slips or aggressive input from the gas peddle. going at max 50/50 when the diff engages in no way or form rwd bias at any point in time, the fuelpump internals do not keep up with mashing the gas at lower rpms(which isbwhy we have aftermarket versions), that is however the engine bay pump and isnt the only reason for not going wot below 3k. another reason is the motor puts out to much torque below 3k for the stock rods sometimes and if a rod is worn enough the load will reduce the rod to a vent hole in the side of the block, rods are the weakest link as far as internal parts for the 2.3 dsi go.
***** When someone answers a question in a respectable way, you respond by calling them names and appearing utterly childish.. Jesus Christ. When did I say that boost has to do with engine speed? You entirely misread what I posted- but yes, boost is DIRECTLY related to engine speed. You will not be building boost at 0 RPM, but guess what? Boost DOES increase as your motor winds up! You come in here trying to correct everyone (and doing it in the rudest way possible) but all of your info is incorrect. The fact that you claim this car is RWD biased when the power put to the rear wheels is no more than 50% is ridiculous. You are either a troll, or an angry uneducated person that thinks they are a mechanical genius. Talking about widebands as if they do anything other than give you a readout lmao.. go re-read those articles, you must have missed a few pieces of information. You didn't even know what WOT was! haha
'lmao' is a commonly used acronym regardless of age and sex, you keep coming at it with the insults but it just makes you look like an angry person who wants to be heard by the world for once. Since you seem stuck on this idea about the AWD system and bring no evidence whatsoever, here; "Under normal circumstances all of that power is fed to the front wheels via a slick-shifting six-speed 'box, but an electronically controlled Active Torque Split differential can redirect as much as 50 per cent of the drive to the rear if necessary. The system has three programmes, Normal, Sport and Stability, which the electronic brain switches between, without the driver's knowledge, depending on road speed, steering angle, lateral g, yaw rate and engine speed. A limited-slip diff in the rear axle further aids traction and stability. Mazda claims the MPS is good for a 6.6sec sprint to 62mph and rock- solid at its maximum 150mph" Just go do a couple searches "princess", i can't believe how ignorant, immature, and aggressive you are being and you aren't even correct. If you're going to be cocky, at least make sure your info is correct!
Owning one of these is a BLAST! Trust me lol. Especially if you live where theres Winter. These will fucking send it on icy roads and the AWD is suprisingly responsive, hits right when the turbo kicks in! i Whould say it's much better than Haldex on older volvos. Never Subaru quality AWD but it gets the job done suprisingly well.
These cars have to be driven so precisely.. unfortunately the first owners of these cars didn't know that. I bought a full power train warranty on mine at 93000 miles, hopefully she doesnt pop
replace the timing chain on it if it hasnt been done yet and upgrade the high pressure fuel pump and these thing will last however long you want them to
Didn't know this was an issue with these cars. Only did a couple times though. It would have to be doing this frequently to actually bend a rod though. If it did it in one shot, than this engine is a POS, but none the less it is fine.
***** ya thankfully it didn't bend, but in general for all turbo cars it's a rule to not boost under 3000RPM anyways I still enjoyed the video I have one of these and ya they are nice!
+Vlad T yup I will have to remember this next time. i don't think this was much of an issue for my 300ZX TT since it spooled slow and the motors harmonics were pretty well balanced from the factory. I did this on the ecoboost mustang that's being uploaded next week... oopsy lol
Don't go full throttle under 3000RPM if you go full throttle under 3k rpm you risk bending a rod anything over 3k rpm is safe to full throttle, allso do not go full throttle in 5th or 6th gear down shift to 4 if you wanna boost on highway bassicly that's

I’ll second that.
%100
But the M3. Wow
Great choice on car to review man!!! I've got a speed6 thank you for putting this video on!! I love seein speed videos on RUclips.
4:39, "it makes turbo noises". Sold! Im getting this car now XD
I love my speed 6. Just don't expect them to be cheap. I bought mine for a great deal and the motor blew less than 500 miles after. The previous owner probably knew something was going on and got rid of it.
I got a brand new motor in mine and it's an amazing car!
there's one for sale right now in lousianna with 67k original miles on it, 1 owner, clean history, for $7800. Probably could grab it for $7k flat.
what were you doing to it when it blew?

Legacy GT, not WRX
If hes fully bolted including turbo, he should be making around 360whp. Mine was on the Ko4 fully bolted making 300
Awads what k04?
Alex Gunner turbo
From 5:11 to 5:37 ... my exact thoughts when I got my speed 6! unique and it's a sleeper
I just sold an audi a6 and I'm buying a mazdaspeed 6 cant wait to get it
idk about that speed6 but my speed6 brakes are amazing, they stop when i want.
How would can I check for turbo shaft play? Do I have to remove the turbo or can I check it with the turbo in the car? Im looking to buy a ms6 but Ive heard of there is shaft play I shouldn't buy it
I miss this car so much... Great review!
never go wot below 3k in a speed 3 or 6......
I did some research, shitty how that sucks for these cars. I only did it a couple times so we good.

Cool ride. Decent job with the review
The moment you went WOT at 2k rpm I stopped watching. don't wanna watch a beautiful speed 6 being put in danger like that 😂

Did he put uneven length exhaust headers on to try to make it rumble like a Subaru? lul
Oh man you went WOT at 2000RPM I feel so bad for the owner now hopefully his connecting rod didnt bend!
Didn't know this was an issue with these cars. Only did a couple times though. It would have to be doing this frequently to actually bend a rod though. If it did it in one shot, than this engine is a POS, but none the less it is fine.

Can you guys explain what you mean? Don't push gas all the way down at 3k or what?
Don't go full throttle under 3000RPM if you go full throttle under 3k rpm you risk bending a rod anything over 3k rpm is safe to full throttle, allso do not go full throttle in 5th or 6th gear down shift to 4 if you wanna boost on highway bassicly that's
2:27 WTF???? why are you falling into the bushes? Did Sasquatch grab you?
What canyon was this?
I have one super fun car. Got for cheap. Why not wot at low rpm.
because it can damage the rods and the stock cam driven fuel pump is not working efficiently enough at low RPMs to make everything work smoothly.
are you Max Bemis?
Besim haha "and it makes turbo noises"
i like
RIP to this car he was flooring it at 2k rpms🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Tbh it sound like a wrx
Video was a bit bored, to much inside record. Hope you'd improved your reviews. Regards
at 2:09 close your eyes it sounds like his car skid off the cliff
Are you Albanian?
Sokol Murati yes I am!
BlaBla
Another lame reveiwer trying to sound like the Everday Driver guys.
