There are great guitarist teaching but for me I’ve tried and tried but I take away very little leaving discouraged from their big you tube channels. Now I avoid as much as I can realizing YT for me is counterproductive wasting time. But now and then I stop and check something out, maybe once every couple months. This lesson has something different I actually learned from and was playing licks in a couple hours. I’m not sure why I stopped and absorbed the lesson but it was effective and gave me knowledge not endless frustration.
I love how these licks are easy to understand but leaves so much room for interpretation! Will certainly be committing these to memory for later use, thank you!
Excellent lesson! These licks are easy to get under your fingers and sound great. This is immediately useful to put into my toolbox. I’ve always felt that if one could have perhaps a dozen anchor licks like these that might be all you need. If you could do future videos with other anchor licks that would be awesome and much appreciated.
You are the BEST instructor ever! You simplify music theory and show us how to take that and make guitar playing fun. I’d love to see more videos tying music theory with blues licks. Having so much fun I recommended your videos to my daughter also. Thanks for your great lessons!
I like all of your stuff. Sometimes it a bit ahead of me, but I'll still listen if my old fingers can't do it. I'm 67 and didn't quit my day job. I wish we had internet and you 50 years ago! You show us what I want to learn to be a great living room blues player. And like I said, if I can't play it, I listen to you playing it.
That was a great lesson thanks! The way it was simplified in three licks was a great idea always better to practice in small chunks I believe, once again thanks your a great teacher.
I was not going to say this is a great video and end up sounding like everyone else, but then I thought, what the hell ! ... this is a great video Jule, Thanks. lick 1, 0:42 lick 2, 2:25, lick 3 3:43, recap, 4:50
Great lesson.I know the pentatonic scale all over the neck ,but its hard to improvise licks without sounding like you are playing the scale. Its great to learn new ones .Lets face it even guys like clapton had to copy someone to get started. I have a buddy from the late 50s who Clapton used to go and watch at gigs like the Flamingo club in London .Maybe he copied some of his licks.
I don't use the best terms sometimes but like to see people reach their potential. 30+ years playing self taught I think I have something to contribute and will find😊😊 better ways to say so
Hi Jules, i found your channel and it's brilliant, iv been playing rythem guitar for years but I would love to learn blues and funk lead and guitar, can you please tell me where to start on your channel, thank you so much👍
For this video I've included a pdf download for the 3 licks, plus the 3 backing tracks. I'm back filling the catalogue with tabs/tracks for all my previous videos.
But now what if you wanted to play these licks in a different position? I feel like some of the licks like the first one wouldn’t work due to the fingering?
My only problem... with your TAB, is how do you know the beats of the notes, and what is the bpm, you are playing? i am a beginner guitar player, coming from piano
Most guitar players don't know musical notation and follow the rhythm by ear, hence I don't usually include it to keep it simple. In this case the rhythm of the licks changes to fit the three tracks, so I suggest just play along and you'll pick it up.
Learning blues guitar: "You just play the same lick 100 different ways?? That's easy." {Tries to come up with 100 ways to play the same lick} "Oh wow, this isn't so easy."
Usually I’m hyper critical on you tube tutorials but this is spot on! Simple yet comprehensive! Thx

@@josephinedanielson4057 farce or no it worked. I’d rather have an axe to play not grind.

Fun! Come by the house we'll jam, anytime
Great lesson. Does your patreon page have these same videos added with tabs and backing tracks, or is it different from these here?
For this video I've included a pdf download for the 3 licks, plus the 3 backing tracks. I'm back filling the catalogue with tabs/tracks for all my previous videos.
Dam, you're playing my guitar! Ha. Mine looks exactly like yours, same everything. Mine is a 1980 Les Paul standard. What year is yours?
But now what if you wanted to play these licks in a different position? I feel like some of the licks like the first one wouldn’t work due to the fingering?
