Great until the sensors go wrong, and they do, then the car stops for no reason. This happened to me, nearly had a guy run into the back of me, not funny. I have turned it off, I would rather trust myself.
Is your VW different? The lane keep assist turns off in my VW after the speed drops below 67km/h. I doubt very much It can slow down to 0km/h and in the same lane. Once the lane keep is off, the car does not try to keep itself in the same lane anymore. So my VW can slow down upon detecting the driver is not responding, but probably it will drive all the way to the shoulder or the ditch during stopping.
In some European countries in the first month of productions there was another version which in reality did not have emergency stop assist. Such cars just turned off the acc after few warnings. How old is your car?
@@1001cars it is a 2018 model. All I know is lane keep will turn off if it doesn't detect my hands on the wheel. I dont have the guts to find out what's going to happen next if I dont take over steering 😅
Lamentablemente los autos fabricados en México no tienen tan altos los estandares de seguridad, los alemanes y europeos son más exigentes con esa cuestión desde la versión más básica
Why car signals emergency stop so late? in heavy traffic drivers behind will think that he is just slowly breaking and don't intent to stop on middle of highway.
Brakuje mi tego systemu w CC 2014 gdzie lane assist się po prostu wyłącza jak kierowca nie zareaguje, najbardziej bezsensowne rozwiązanie jakie widziałem.
Brake Assist problems.... disconnect the front bumper radar sensor and tape up the plug to stop water getting in. The brakes will go back to normal so the driver has full control
VW Assist Braking and more....But so hate the way that VW and others are going with Assisted Braking and Assist this as Assist that but does not Assist our pocket with apox £5K going on top of the prices with Online Connected Vehicles. Until you can opt out of these features when ordering new they have lost me as a 20 year VW customer to buy New again! keep with my older vehicle with out the junk. I want to drive not the VW Computer as VW have a law suite in the US against them on Assisted Braking. Which i have had problem that slams on the Brakes! with along with Stop/Start that won't re-start the vehicle and leaves you Dead in the Road!
Is this how the 2020/2021 system works? I thought it will stop in the far right lane, not in the lane the car is in. What would happen if it stopped in the far left lane? That would cause a serious accident. I guess that the newest system does stop you in the far right lane... if not, its crap.
Can you tell me what is the difference (in terms of safety) between stopping on right lane (many more cars but lower speed) comparing to stopping on the left lane in situation when the driver does not respond?
@@1001cars I meant on the highway - right lane on the highway is the "stop" or the "hazard" lane (not sure whats the english term) but no moving traffic is allowed in it, so its much safer to stop there if the car is on the highway, instead of the left lane - if the driver falls asleep in it, for example and cars are moving fast. Especially if the car stops in the left lane in the left turn, or just after a hill top, so its hard to spot... Also, that car has Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Parking Sensors all around it, so it pretty much can steer itself safely to the far right lane and stop. I'll have to test this feature in my Seat Ateca 2021, its pretty much the same system.
@@cipiripper easy to say, hard to make. how can you imagine the car moving from left lane to the right lane at speed like 10 km/h? This is really hard situation and we have to choose what is worse (not what is better): allowing the car to hit barriers and potentially create dangerous situation (bouncing car between sides of the road) OR stopping the car on present lane and waiting (or hopefully not) when somebody will hit the stopped car. There is no car which change the lane to emergency lane automatically and it is impossible to make it now. Every VW car (instead of if I am correct one year of Arteon) will stop on the lane which is currently used.
@@1001cars Lane Assist will keep it in line, it wouldn't go bouncing. I don't believe that its hard to make, that's how the Park Assist works, it detects obstacles and free spaces in the lane to your right, so I guess that the Emergency Assist system is only missing a few sensors to detect cars farther away in the back so it can safely change lanes (if the Blind Spot Assist sensors used are not enough). Plus it has GPS nav and Lane Assist that can tell it when it is safe to park in the emergency lane (so it doesn't stop on a bridge, or a highway exit) and in which lane it currently is. I understand that this is the least bad option, but I just don't like it knowing what kind of sensors and tech the car is already equipped with.
The cars like: are you still alive?
Nice! this is good for medical emergencys
Hey everyone, VW safety systems are called ASSISTANT, they know those cannot replace human driving not yet
on motorway it can be VERY DANGEROUS for everybody else! The system should park the car on the emergency lane !
Did you really just stop on the motorway? Impressive gadgets but... seriously?
It was secured by road service who was going just behind me.
1001cars yeah right.. very dangerous
Why gadgets? These systems can save lives.
David Jordan its normal in Poland. Mark Polak and Tomas Dubjcek Gona hate
What else would you expect it to do?

How was that late?!
@@ashr2794 It started the emergency signals at about 60km/h when it was driving 100km/h before. A bit earlier would probably be better.
