I’d completely disagree. VW puts drivers into danger with this ill-thought out rubbish system. It should never been put onto a car. The driver’s own competence at driving is all that is needed.

Brilliant Video. Explained some of the things I didn't know how to use on my car. Great features, Very Well done Volkswagen, thinking about people's safety on the roads. 👍👍

I live in New Jersey and I am here to tell you that auto breaking assist is the most dangerous thing about this car in this state. I have a 2018 VW R and this sensor will knock you out of gear and lock up the breaks coming and going out of damn near every driveway angled at or about 20 degrees or greater. Old infrastructure drives this brake assist nuts and It is so damn dangerous to get locked up like this in traffic. Not to mention being embarrassed in a brand new car appearing to fail for no damn reason so I finally disabled it. I also had to shut off lane assist as well because New Jersey has so many faded or missing lines for lanes, potholes, shadows from above powerlines and trees that the sensors try to follow. It will try to pull your car into another lane thinking that it's following the right path and it isn't. That was the first sensor that I had to shut off. I guess these sensors work best when you have newer infrastructure with plenty of smooth roads, clear lines and low driveway angles . Jersey has NONE OF THIS. Watch out.

hi, I agree. My question is, how effective is your turning off? Do you have to turn it off every time you start the car? I am thinking of a 2019 VW Sportwagen but it has Driver Assistance Package but honestly that auto braking scares the crap out of me. Thanks for any info.

I just bought a 2019 VW Polo Beats & was not alerted to this system by the salesman. The system shut the car off in a supermarket car park when a van was reversing towards me! I couldn’t figure out I’d no engine on, for a moment and it took time to restart it! The van driver so nearly hit my car. I don’t want this on my car! It’s dangerous! It just just everything off in my drive whilst reversing into the parking space! Don’t buy a car with this fitted!!

You have to deactivate it each time you restart and then nothing else appears on the dash board in the central area except a big message that its deactivated! Irritating!!

Lane assist helps you stay in the CORRECT lane not the RIGHT lane as stated.

The front collision warning & avoidance system is iffy at best.
I have the 2021 Arteon and I have stopped (only have the vehicle for 3 weeks) relying on the safety systems as I just don't feel comfortable trusting them. Also, the lane keep assist has to be turned off every time you start the vehicle (LKA on the arteon is pretty aggressive).
I wished that it could memorize the last vehicle setting.
My previous car G80 never had any observable questionable safety issues, so I felt pretty comfortable using the systems. Also, I turned off the LKA and it stayed off.

Would be great if the vehicle didn't CONSTANTLY ping at me when drive assistance is "unavailable". On average 4 times per drive. It's the most frustrating thing ever. When combined with a few other usability issues, I honestly feel this is the most annoying car I've every owned. I have the 2023 VW TROC R.

Why did VW decide that the visible turn single and blind spot warning single would both blink orange in the side mirrors. I thought Germans were smarter than that.

VW Assist Braking and more But so hate the way that VW and others are going with Assisted Braking and Assist this as Assist that but does not Assist our pocket with apox £5K going on top of the prices with Online Connected Vehicles. Until you can opt out of these features when ordering new they have lost me as a 20 year VW customer to buy New again! keep with my older vehicle with out the junk. I want to drive not the VW Computer as VW have a law suite in the US against them on Assisted Braking. Which i have had problem that slams on the Brakes! with along with Stop/Start that won't re-start the vehicle and leaves you Dead in the Road!

  • @Richie-vu4we

More Junk to go wrong!! and adds more to the cost of the Vehicle. After having 2 VW Vehicles with problems with Stop/Start & Assist Braking and putting me in Danger! I will NOT BUY a new Vehicle again!! Till you can Opt out of these Junk and not have a vehicle that is connected.
