However, since discovering your tutorial videos, I have gained a much better, clearer understanding and use of the driver assist features. Your explanations are excellent, detailed and easy to follow. My driving experience has certainly improved! Thanks for your videos they've been a tremendous help!

You have helped me massively ! I know this car has road sign recognition so I was wondering.. When the ACC is engaged, let’s say the road speed limit is at 70mph and changes 50, can the ACC system automatically adjust the top speed? Thank you so much for your help !

    • @JerryPanandCars

Thansk for the comment. No, ACC is controlled by the driver. It is a separate feature from road sign recognition.

I’m pretty sure my tiguan did adapt to road sign during one travel. The cruise control speed limit was changing automatically. Unfortunately i never managed to reproduce this. Interested if someone has the answer.

Hi there. Really good video. Could you please specify how to deactivate the predictive function of the ACC??? I do not want the car to be reading signals and slowing me down all the time...the same with roundabouts and intersections...the predictive function slows me down in these situations

    Hello Jerry,
If I don't enable "keyless" on the "central locking" setting, does this mean I can use central locking as usual, remotely open/close press of a button, from key fob?

  • @user-rb4mv9lj5o

I have the new 2023 Taigo r line. The lane assist under urban road conditions can at times be dangerous. Three examples are :- 1. I was passing some cyclists so pulled out slightly from them but not over the central line. The lane assit took over and steared me back at the cyclist ! If the car had hit or killed one of them who would be responsible under the law me or Volkswagen ? 2. On a country road the tree growth was overgrown so I had to stear nearer the centeral line to aviod the branches. Without warning lane assist steared the car back into the branches. 3. I was passing a parked truck on a wide dock road, the lane was wide enough for two cars so as I approched the rear of the parked truck I pulled out near to but not over the centeral line. As I did this the lane assist turned the wheel back at the truck and I had to react quick to aviod a crash. There is no way of turning lane assist off by defult so you are at risk in these common driving conditions. All the other assist items on the car are fine it is just lane assist that is unsafe at times. Volkswagen please fix, in all other ways a brilliant car.

Understood. Having to switch off every time is kind of annoying.

I believe that if you indicate when wishing to move over the lane assist will not be active.

I have a Skoda Superb that has a very similar system. The first thing I have learnt is that you have to understand the limitations of the system. The example above is fine, but it should not be a surprise either. I use lane keeping all the time, but I do not take my hands off the steering wheel and ensure I concentrate. I would also say that lane keeping and adaptive cruise control has saved me more times than it has failed me - I have nodded off briefly for a couple of seconds while exhausted and that has saved me from hitting something. The system is there as an aid and is not meant as a fully functioning autopilot to let you go off and make a coffee! There are golden rules with all automated systems - if you are an Airbus pilot you would know 'Airbus Golden Rule No 4 - If things do not go as expected, you must intervene'. Seems very sensible advice to me.

You can "override" lane assist by just "actively" steering. A push of the blinker would also help.

I ordered one last week, picking up next week, the issue with NZ, as i am also here on the 2023 model, on a fully loaded R-Line (not T-Roc R) you can’t get DCC or other features like using VW app to remote start the car, that other countries have…. But nice tutorial :)
