I love this discussion. Which is more valuable? The Brains (Holmes) or The Heart (Campbell)? Holmes finds those rare gems. Campbell polishes them to a perfect shine. You cannot have one without the other. It's impossible to answer.
I wish sports radio would get away from hot takes. This regime has told you they work in a collaborative manner. You have seen it in the draft room. You have seen it in press conferences. Lastly, why do we compare members of the same organization against each other, but then love to say it’s a team game?
It would have to be Holmes, after all he did hire Dan Campbell so that places the coach in the group that Holmes brought to the team. He made the right choice for his coach regardless of the naysayers. Had he made a different choice we would not be having this conversation.
@@MaxxdOut313 I did not know that. How often do you see a GM and a coach that he did not hire get along and be so similar in character and vision of the team and culture. Thank you for politely correcting me. I don't believe we need a different coach. I think that Campbell got us over that hump and the Lions are now on the other side. I don't see this team regressing this year however I am weary that every talking head in sports are predicting the Lions as the NFC Super bowl representative, barely beating out the 49ers. I am uncomfortable with all this attention and what it could do to the team. This particular group has thrived on Detroit vs Everybody and being the gritty underdog This next season will not be like that, they are the favorites and may be difficult to keep that edge of a chip on your shoulder when everyone's patting your back.
It's not a debate or argument...(I listened) A great GM can allow almost any coach to look good. I have no idea how good of a coach Phil Jackson or Steve Kerr are because they coached the best players. The Cowboys win games in spite of Mccarthy.
Holmes is a good AG, but think about he gets talent based on the head coach and scouts. Campbell has changed the Coulter you can draft the best of the best but if the Coulter is bad they don't play to a level that brings success.. No different then running a business HR, can find the most talented employees but if the Coulter is bad you will be a mediocre business.. you might survive but you won't grow or see the potential of that business. No different with players. So it has to be Campbell. Hire a CEO, that's a bad leader doesn't matter who HR Hires it will not reach its potential
Great topic, love them both. But Dan is more important. He does all the coaching stuff, culture, but he also is helping Brad draft. Brad isn’t helping Dan coach.
Rico hyping up chase young he had no affect in that lions game 😂😂😂

This is the answer right here. One is the yin to the other’s yang.
💯💯 without Campbell it's a talented team with no heart, without Holmes it a talented less team with heart
Did Rico say that Holmes has already missed on a guy we just drafted in April?
This was one of the most enjoyable segments as a Detroit sports fan in the last decade
The roster so Holmes.
I think this situation is 50 50 because Campbell set the culture of the team and without the culture it's not the same team even with the same players
I think it’s Holmes but I truly believe Campbell is getting the best out of the players.
ITS IN BRAD HOLMES WE TRUST SIR!!!

Campbell came first, but I'm interested in the who is the coach that will take them over the hump, like Chucky did in TB

I dont think you can choose because they both feed on each other.

I agree especially in NBA / NHL, a bad coach can be masked. Its impossible in the NFL with how important scheme / player development / playcalling is

The answer is Dan because he helps Brad draft. Brad doesn’t help Dan coach.
Brad Holmes hired Dan Campbell
