@superashleyworl The idea in this interpretation isn't to pretend she is playing piano, clearly. Rather, it is meant to exaggerate the act of playing the piano, so everyone in the audience is completely clear about what is going on.
Actually, Im playing Amaryllis in my school musical, she's only 8 years old, and really likes Winthrop. You must know how most children are. They're somewhat manipulative, and she got upset when he said he wouldn't go to her party, because she thinks he doesn't like her back, so she acts out as a child would. When she called marian an Old Maid, she was still angry, but when she realizes what she said she wanted to take it back, so she asks to play because she's really saying 'Ill be a good girl"
My wife played her, Amaryllis Way way back in 1967. Her older brother had the lead in his junior year of h.s! You are spot on about the 8-year-old, Amaryllis. Having grandkids, twins, age 8. She acts appropriately with her actions in this role.👍🏻
@framesandmirrors I don't appreciate comments that aren't constrictive or substantialized for that matter. If you are going to leave mean comments at least have a reason please.
You people should stop putting rude comments about the actors because you probably couldn't do better, and people also get stage fright so that is possibly a reason but either way, if you were there in their place you probably wouldn't appreciate the comments your saying
my school has elementary kids in it as well but we have a high school student be amaryllis and she does an amazing job, this one isn't that great. you can tell that she's not playing the piano and is to agressive.
@sarahcali161 in the script it has that she needs to make a big show of the end chords and exercises actually know what youre talking about before you talk k thx
I understand it's a high school production and the limitations in casting - not referring to the actors performances but has your director seen The Music Man? Too many mistakes in a 5 minute scene. Did you use the think system? I am reticent. Oh yes!, I am reticent.
I'm Amaryllis in my school play. Im so excited.
Same
I wish I could've been in the audience. Good talent! It's like the original. That's why I like this.
I have her. for my play!

I’m doing the same for miss.Paroo I hope yours went well :)
It always bugged me how Amaryllis wanted to get close to Winthrop but couldn’t figure out that you shouldn’t laugh at those you want to be close to.
I’m playing Winthrop in this play!

Mrs Paroo isnt the best actress in the world. she should show more emotion toward her children. amaryllis is pretty good though, and so is marian.
Rebecca Parker don't be so mean these people are doing the best that they can and I bet you probably couldn't do any better
