  • On todays episode we will be discussing the canine distemper virus and our experience with it. I am not a veterinarian and am sharing only what I have learned by having a dog with this virus. I encourage everyone to do their own research and seek the advice of a veterinarian if you suspect your dog was exposed or shows symptoms. I hope this helps anyone that is embarking on this journey and is useful in some way. Please vaccinate your pets to protect them as this is not a good experience for the animal or the human and most cases is fatal. And if you are thinking of getting a furry child, please consider checking out your local humane society as there are a lot of animals deserving of a loving home.
    Thanks for watching!

Great video and information. I have been taking my dog to a veterinarian chiroprator, who also performs traditional style medicine. The chiropractic treatment alleviates the neurological side effects (jaw clicking, jerking movements/tremors, head bobbing). This is factual. I had no idea chiropractic treatment even existed for animals. My sweet dog contracted the distemper virus when he was at the local animal shelter, where I found him, and I decided to foster him. He developed severe neurological side effects, almost everything listed in the video, and it was much worse than sweet Wynona. His right side twitched (front and back leg), head bob was very profound, and jaw clicking was so bad he would bite his tongue when he ate. Once I discovered the veterinarian who performs chiropractic treatment, I took my dog to her and have been going ever since. It took about five to six treatments to notice the jaw clicking started to subsided. His jaw would click ever second, and I mean lock clock work. After five to six treatments, his jaw would click every three seconds, and as treatment continued, then every eight seconds. His leg twitching and head bobbing was less severe, and within a year, all those symptoms disappeared, and I mean absolutely not one jaw click, head bob or twitch! He has been on a maintenance plan for eight years now and still no signs of the previously mentioned side effects. He receives laser treatment as well, which helps with the nerves along his spine. Although, he still has the saliva issues like Wynona does but that's nothing compared to where he was eight years ago. Also, I was told by the vet, had I found her sooner, she could have performed acupuncture on him instead, which would have helped to alleviate the neurological side effects much sooner but the longer the animal goes w/out having any treatment, the more difficult it is to treat w/acupuncture and the need to start the chiropractic treatment. It had been eight months after contracting the distemper when I found my There are more and more veterinarians out there who are learning holistic treatment such as this. I encourage you search for a chiropractic veterinarian and see what the pricing is. I know not everyone can afford to and I was barley able to myself. I hope that this can help anyone out there who is searching for a way to help their dog's situation. P.S. I live in Houston, TX.

      Mandy,
Thank you so much for sharing your story. This is all great information. I hope others will read your comment. My daughter works for the Humane Society and we have also tried the chiropractic treatments with some good results and yes it is expensive, but if it helps alleviate the suffering it’s worth it I made this video because I wanted other people that are experiencing this to know that they can do something to help their fur babies. I also wanted to stress the fact that vaccinations are so important, and this affliction is entirely preventable once again thank you so much for sharing your story! Winona is with us today because we couldn’t stand to see her be put down. She is such a blessing and a happy dog, and she deserves the very best! ☮️

Well said, and yes, vaccination is key in prevention. My vet also said there is some new strain of distemper down here in the south so it’s imperative that our fur babies are vaccinated. God bless you and for saving Winona’s life by not putting her down. Some vets encourage euthanasia but if these dogs survive, they are such happy pups and so grateful. They seem to know their human parent has saved them. ❤

@@ocotillooutlaws4101 awesome amen to that brother! My pup (1 year and 4 months) passed 2 days ago to distemper unfortunately, was a very quick decline in her last week but I’m thankful she didn’t suffer from seizures or anything physically traumatic. Could eat and just was too weak in the end. I pray to God someone finds a cure for this horrible virus.

@@chrisss9991 so sorry to hear of your loss… with time only good memories will remain. The best way to prevent this horrible, cruel affliction is vaccination and getting the word out. That’s why I made the video in hopes that people would vaccinate their pets. Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing 😎
