I love the "We didn't spend much time doing it" comment from Pat, We noticed "Patrick" didn't spend much time doing it, because Liam spent all his time doing it,😂😂🤣🤣 I noticed Dan did the runner as soon as you turned your back (very smart move) 😂😂🤣🤣, also you need to put a protective polish on it, the cut and polish leaves the paint very susceptible to UV damage as it's really just a cutting agent.

Nice video gents. As a Detailer I’d recommend using an air compressor to remove polish residue from the pad by blowing it out, rather than using water. You’ll end up blocking the pores of the pad and creating heat otherwise. 👍

This is actually brilliant. I’ve watched so many videos that made polishing sound so intimidating that I’ve nearly been scared off ! Now I’m energized just just give it a sensible go
I'm going to say that as a detailer that was a little hard to watch haha but you guys did well and Dan's tips are a great starting point for anyone picking up a machine polisher!
As someone who has done many a paint restoration on these 80s to restore the factory paint I highly recommend getting a tin of colour matched paint and going over all the paint chips. These cars (especially the white 80s) have pretty thin paint and often have many spots where lights, rubber seals and trim pieces rub through to the metal. going around and touching up all the rub throughs and chips will help prevent rust issues in the future and improve the overall look of the car significantly!!

What’s the best way to apply paint to the small paint chips/rust spots
@@Madmax-bw6gb The typical 50ml touch-up bottle that your local Autobarn or Supercheap can mix up for you with your paint code will have a brush on the bottom of the lid.
1. Give the bottle a good shake to mix the paint
2. Unscrew the lid and carefully brush all the paint sticking to the brush and the shaft into the bottle so it doesn't drip off it when your trying to do a touch-up.
3. Dab the brush into the paint to get as much paint as you think you need to do the area you want to touch-up
4. apply by carefully dabbing the area leaving the paint in a slight blob as when it dries it will shrink down
5. don't try to apply too much paint at once so if you have a large spot then repeat the process above until you've covered the large chip or rub through
6. brushing the paint on won't give as nice of a finish as carefully dobbing and spreading it like that
Lastly if you want to take it to the next level don't bother using the supplied brush on the lid and get some paint touch-up brushes or for small chips grab a toothpick
Also highly recommend finding a couple Vids on RUclips so you can visualise the process!!
Dan gave some great tips there, two other tips, start with a fine pad and fine polish and slowly work your way up if you still see scratches, do not allow the pad to dwell on one spot because you can damage the paint. Great job guys and the 80 is looking better.
Dan was right. The only way to get better at it is to get Liam to do it. You won't get cannons if you won't do the work Patrick. 😂😂

WOW. amazing what a splash of paint will cover.bullbar looks good. mine needs a paint but probably wont happen. buffing the car makes it shine near like a new one.back in the day we did it it with cutting compound and elbow grease. no buffers .i definitely like the shorter mirrors. i got older ones and it looks like a longhorn cow compared to the shorter ones,lol.nice job boys .👍

Nice work, I had to take my fron fenders off for the engin rebuild to allow for wiring mod so I got all the genuine replacement rubbers from UAE with my other genuine engine parts. I repaired the chips in the flares and spraid them satin black, looks perfect.

Hey Patrick another great video, just a quick mention was surprised to see you put a roller fairlead back on normally with rope better not to use roller fairlead as it can get pinched in rollers on odd occasions just something to mention in my experiences. Love your boys work keep it up 👍

I used a few different polishes and waxes on my Ute ove the years but kittens wax is the best stuff I’ve used and last forever if you put a ceramic coat onto pot the wax

Someone get the boy some neoprene covers for the XR6 seats!! There great seats but seeing the XR logo in a Toyota kills my ocd
Use some Meguiars Ceramic Hybrid wax or similar (people are saying Turtle is good as well) to keep that beading. Easy to apply and the mud comes off so much easier.
Love the videos boys, just an idea I reckon cut the hoops off the bar and have the light bar in the middle it looks tough as. Just my idea keep up the videos boys I love them

I tried polishing my D40 Navara, everyone was telling me to just try it, I didn't clay bar it and had no idea what I was doing, ended up covering the thing in deep swirls, paints fukd now.... :(
A fairlead would look better/tidier, the rollers looks like your 80 has braces on.
Tbh I i would have sent the bar off to get sandblasted and powder coated. It would probably only be like $200 to get done

No mater how much you polish a turd it's still a turd 😂 na I'm joking it's come up looking sweet....personally I would never own a brand new 4x4 or ever get a paint job I seen old mates heart sink copping the pin stripe on the GQ...I rather roll in something that copping damage is a memory with a story, then worry about my panels....P.S for people that don't have power tools good old elbow grease half a carton of booze with a mate you can get the same results 😉

I had the Ocam mirrors on my 200 for one day. I nearly had an accident changing lanes. I never seen the other car in my mirror.
The mirrors were absolutely horrible.
If you had any kind of a clue you would adjust them correctly to cover the blind spots. Not hard to do at all. 😅

Far too many smartarse know it alls on most videos. I get sick of the "you should have done this" or "in my experience" heroes. Piss off and do your own thing if you know better. I'm 60 and have seen and done shitloads in my time and have still enjoyed these young fellas and have learnt or re learnt heaps.
