Shortly after this video, we found out the HOSS is listed “Out of Stock”. I had a feeling this was going to happen, it didn’t make a lot of sense for Traxxas to upgrade the Stampede without killing off the HOSS. What do you guys think?
Hoss comes with a lot, includes a center diff with metal spur which is $70 retail. It also comes with a TQi radio with Bluetooth optional, more value there. Plus, the motor is the better and more expensive Maxx motor. Hoss is the way to go value wise. And you get to pick the HD kit color if you want to upgrade it further.
I did this exact upgrade with my stampede 4x4 bl-2s and it's been great! Rocking the same spur and pinion gear too! Thanks again for this recommendation!
I currently have the stampede BOT s and I love it. I just started getting into this. I have a couple of rustlers. I picked up used and a used slash. far as I can see. I like the stampede the best of them and it seemed to do better job in this video..
I would definitely take the stampede over the house only because I have a max and the stampede is done pretty damn well for even stunts Yes I do have the The 3S motor on it and ESC
Love the hoss' both are definitely machines for sure although im sure someone will day something about traxxas. Personally i love em.. the hoss is so light and nimble
Very interesting video! One Question: beside the 3s combo and the remote is there any difference between the new Stampede Bl-2s and the new 3s Stampede version? I prefer the Bl-2s because I have a good remote and also a 3s combo already.
I sure wish you included the drive shaft upgrade/ fix in a video. Having the same prob with my plastic one; it actually snapped in the same spot as yours. But the plastic one I found has a built in adapter thing to connect to the front end. The aluminum did not come with this adapter and I'm not sure what to get to complete my fix.
I have both. And they’re both set up exactly the same way stampede is an animal, the Hoss Is really good, but the plastic driveshafts suck. I agree, but the heavy duty kit on both of them.
Hi, am thinking on getting an Stampede, but I don’t live in the states. What would you recommend to get besides the car and the battery to have some most-common-need spare parts to get them with along with the shipping? Thanks!
Make sure your Stampede has the Extreme HD Kit, the newer models come with it. Upgrade the slipper to a center differential, it will help you to not break axles as much. Replace the center driveshaft with aluminum, and a few extra toe/camber links.
It’s not meant for 4s, you’ll need to go aftermarket to handle that extra power. I’d go with something with aluminum housing, and hardened steel gears.
You would typically hear a lot of clicking, the car could also act as if it’s locking up. Best to inspect all the gears, spider gears are known to chip sometimes.
Loosen the motor so it’s not contacting the spur gear. Then roll it back and forth, do you hear the clicking from the front or back? You can also remove the center driveshaft and isolate the front from the rear.
Proline Badlands are definitely not worth it, we’ve already tried multiple sets, we did a review on them. Could have just been a bad set, but popped a few in one run.
@@redbanditracing did you glue them yourself? I buy 8 pairs of badlands a year for racing (glue them myself) and I have never seen that happen with 2s-3s Lipo's. Badlands are the Shit!
@@redbanditracing You likely can't do back flips with these SC badlands as they don't balloon like the thicker more monster truck style. But I race/drift a Rustler 4x4 not bash so they work great for me.

i hate how they killed the e revo 2.0 and the E-Maxx never got a refresh🥲
Traxxas HOSS 4X4 VXL change the name Stampede 4X4 VXL
Do the new motors fill up with dirt fast?
@@3tch3r Ive never had a motor fill up with dirt.

Too bad the HOSS is gone
@@redbanditracing I think a VXL Stampede with HD kit may be coming.
That would be nice!
I did this exact upgrade with my stampede 4x4 bl-2s and it's been great! Rocking the same spur and pinion gear too! Thanks again for this recommendation!
Thank you for this vidéo. I just bought a stampede bl2s and will upgrade it but with a spectrum 3300kv combo.
That’s a nice kit, we have the same combo in a 2wd Stampede
Great comparisons fellas👍
Do a Maxx vs stampede
I like the Stampede
I'd love to see maxx vs stampede!
I was thinking the same thing
looks like the stampede 4x4 vxl is the "new" hoss
I miss my hoss . She had a 1/8 hobbywing system and she was kicking 🇬🇧

Look like the ulta shocks were handling some of the landings better than the GTR
One of the ultra shocks rod bent during a durability test, but they handled great during the versus.

My vote is for the Stampede.

What 3S system are you currently running? The new Stampede is using the 540XL. It also has a better center driveshaft, and center differential.
Also, the wheelie bar from the Hoss fits the stamped. So both mine have wheelie bars now.
I was thinking of getting one but love the look without it

If anyone knows what part I need, I will be grateful to get that info. Thanks!
Alright I should have done my research before the comment but I found it. Part #6888X
It’s all good, we did the upgrade on the Slash 4x4 BL-2S. It’s the same process as the Stampede, except the driveshafts are different sizes.
Oh ok got it. Thanks for good content!

AWESOME!! GO STAMPEDE
Hi ,
Fast speed coll traxxas France 🇨🇵
are you running a 3s or 2s lipo in the stampede. i have a stampede and was wondering if the 9 tooth pinon helps keeps the temps down, thanks
I was using a 9T, temperature was great. I went back to a 11T because I like the balance better. I was using a 3S LiPo. Thank you for watching
@@redbanditracing thanks have a good day

Why not just get the new stampede VXL ? The Bl2 s was intended to appeal to entry level owners... At a lower cost
The new Stampede 4X4 VXL wasn’t available.
What links did you use?
The stock links to the HOSS, they are the same truck.
What center driveline fits the traxxas stampede 4x4 bl2s I snapped mine on 4s and I cannot find a upgrade one
It’s not meant for 4s, you’ll need to go aftermarket to handle that extra power. I’d go with something with aluminum housing, and hardened steel gears.
@@redbanditracing I meant the center driveshaft the blue thing you pointed out in the video is the long center shaft the same between the two ?
Yes, same driveshaft. The Slash BL-2s is the only one that’s different.
How can you tell if you have a bad differential in the hoss or the new stampede
You would typically hear a lot of clicking, the car could also act as if it’s locking up. Best to inspect all the gears, spider gears are known to chip sometimes.
@redbanditracing how do I narrow it down? Mine has clicked since I got it.
Loosen the motor so it’s not contacting the spur gear. Then roll it back and forth, do you hear the clicking from the front or back? You can also remove the center driveshaft and isolate the front from the rear.
Ya these cars are the same for sure. I wonder if traxxas is going to get rid of the hoss or revamp the hoss in the near future.....
When this video was released, the HOSS became out of stock. I’m pretty sure it was discontinued
Does the stamped bubble fit the hoss???
I’m guessing you meant body, yes.
Nice video, but you really need a microphone.
We figured out the mic issues with our GoPro. Moving forward should be much better
Both need thicker shock oil to land jumps better and not be so bouncy over grass.
hoss is still available
From where?
Traxxas tires suck. Pro line badlands for where you are driving at.
Proline Badlands are definitely not worth it, we’ve already tried multiple sets, we did a review on them. Could have just been a bad set, but popped a few in one run.

No, bought them assembled. Send me a link to the models you are using or part numbers. I wonder if they are different than what we’re using.
