    Drove from Flagstaff to Phoenix in March and yes, some snow in Flagstaff for sure. I had never been in a true desert before and it finally got me at the rest stop on the way to Tucson. Cacti 🌵 and 100% dry and 70•F. Now I live in Glendale!

    I was born and grew up in Chicago, but man, I love the Southwest. I did that drive back in 1974 and again in 1988. That is sweet freedom. The openness, the scenery is beautiful. I hope to do it again in the future.👍

    It’s so interesting to see the places where there’s still snow and right after them the desert 🏔️🏜️😍 That’s not something that you can see in my country 🇧🇷

      Agreed, very neat to watch the landscape rapidly change from snowy forest to desert as the elevation decreases. Thanks so much for watching!!! ❤️🤍💜

    • @RichardFay
      @RichardFay Год назад +3

      That's partly due to the difference in elevation. Flagstaff is on the Colorado Plateau, and is several thousand feet higher than Phoenix.

    • @kathleenwharton2139
      @kathleenwharton2139 Год назад +3

      Flagstaff is over 7000 ft. Elevation and in just a couple hours you are in Phoenix at 2000 ft. Elevation makes all the difference! I live in the Valley. 😊❤

    • @brendamobley
      @brendamobley Год назад +2

      Others mention the elevation and it’s actually burning gas to go up the hill and a bit of wear on your brakes to go down it, I do try to stay off the brakes. And yawning the whole time to pop my ears.

    As distinctive as Saguaro for Arizona, are its Ponderosa Pine savannas (Oregon may disagree!).
    Phoenix looks to be a really handsome city, and they spiff up their freeway infrastructure really keen, which helps!
    Now, you're going to have to drive the reverse of this, and show us!!

      The elevation in Flagstaff is nearly 7,000 feet, and snow is quite common there. This drive was recorded in spring.

      @@AdventureEveryDay Seems like the first 30 minutes going south from Flagstaff is the worst. Gets the most traffic and freeze/thaw. I remember growing up in Arizona in the 70's and I-17 was constantly being repaved and kept up.

    The highway/interstate looks like it's falling apart...it's all cracked, beat up, rippled....very neglected! USA has very neglected, outdated, decaying and crumbling infrastructure. USA is known for not investing in its infrastructure.
