They were not all meant to be useless. Just 2B was actually designated 2E and was far stronger and more advanced than every other unit for the purpose of eliminating them when the time came. Hell she has killed 9S countless times and wiped his memory so that he couldn't find out the truth about YoRHa, since the 9S is the highest-model there is and the natural curiosity implemented into his systems made him extremely intelligent and liable to finding all this stuff out. This is why the commander is so open about everything to him when he asks about it after hacking the main server and discovering all of this; she assumed that 2B would simply kill him again once he returned to the surface. As for A2, she was designed as 2B's prototype and was intended to be disposed of and destroyed once the 2B model was perfected. Instead she found out the truth about YoRHa and deserted.
The fact that she's telling the most OP character in the game that he is a liability in combat is what got my attention. She apparently hasn't noticed that he can literally just mini-game the toughest enemies in the game to death.

Of course, had he been generally more healthy (mentally and physically) at the time, there might not have been a fight to begin with so idk. Ironically, 2A was probably the most stable (comparatively speaking) that she had been in quite some time during that fight, yet still manages to (most likely) fail to save 9S and commit accidental genocide despite winning the actual fight. It's almost like violence tends to make things worse instead of saving people.
Love how when you first see the dialogue between 21O and 9S where she talks to him like a little kid, it looks weird, funny and out of place. Then fast forward to the God Box, and you find out how lonely she was, all she wanted was a family, and even switched to a B type to get closer to 9S.

It's thematic. The hacking is portrayed as such to convey an idea, not to show exactly what hacking is. It's conveying an idea. The U.S.A flag is not America itself, but it represents it. The hacking mechanisms in game are to convey an idea.
210's death is the saddest for me... because all she wanted was a family and thought of 9S as a son.. she even said she wanted to be with 9S as you fight her (and you can tell its like this because of her fascination with family in her quests)

It's the reason why S models have little boy physique...if they had actual adult bodies it'll be like facing a slightly nerfed Adam and Eve, except this time they won't stop analyzing and gathering combat data on you and you have the added hell of constantly being hacked by them mid-fight.

When you visit the terminal, however, she is still shown to be in the Bunker. But, this can easily be explained away through another identical O-model. That said, the rest of the battle-type YoRHa units were already engaged with the enemy by the conclusion of 9S's mission. The only other possibility is that 21O engaged the enemy after 9S finished his mission (essentially, she joined the battle late) and that Operator 21O's personality was changed as a result of her transformation into a B model. However, this explanation is significantly less likely, due to the inefficiency of not having the extra soldier on the battlefield.

Bit of a second playthrough spoiler fair warning: My absolute favorite interaction is when 9S is having a text communication with Adam while trying to reboot and Adam is saying all sorts of "You want to X" and there are about 3 lines that are very serious and have a lot of weight and then out of nowhere (well in character at least, I mean we all knew it) Adam's text line reads "You want to ****** 2B don't you?" And I just burst out laughing. Most genuine laugh I have had in a long while and that is why it also gets my vote for best moment.

Actually it's left ambiguous because it could have multiple meanings. The word "fuck" is unlikely however when you look at the Japanese version of the game. It's highly implied the word is kill but again, the developers left it blank because 9S has a lot of different feelings for 2B.

No21 "Scanner Recon Radar analysis, treatment of contaminants; a supporting soldier in charge of war-time, situational analysis. She has an extremely high score in analysis. It’s quite rare for an android as calm and collected as she is to also be extremely emotional. False Memory: Weaver" So as you can read and remember 21O was also cold and calm but in the same time extremely emotional... First she was really cold to 9S and calm thinking she care only about the job done. But no, she loved 9S not the way like a lover but rather like a family...(Mother, Sister.) This is why she was always so mean to 9S. But if you actually overthink it you can remember she told 9S to be careful and that she told 9S he's not a combat model so try avoid fight etc...21O did really care about 9S secretly, this is why she wanted to transfer to a combat model in the first place.. So she can be with 9S and provide support on battlefield. This is why their story is so fucking heartbreaking...(Atleast for me T.T) 21O just wanted a family with 9S... She did show her secret emotions before the finale battle because she knew it might be the last time with 9S..:( to answer the question. The real and the only one 21O was in the bunker contacting with 9S from the bunker. But after, 21O was also sent to the finale battle on earth, but because of the logic virus she never arrived with the flight unit from the bunker to earth.., the main thing why a document said her status was MIA. (Missing in Action)...Her personality did not changed by early logic virus but because of deep emotions.. and even if she transfer to Combat model -> (B) personality stays-> (21).. My absolute favorite interaction is when 9S is having a text communication with Adam while trying to reboot and Adam is saying all sorts of "You want to X" and there are about 3 lines that are very serious and have a lot of weight and then out of nowhere (well in character at least, I mean we all knew it) Adam's text line reads "You want to ****** 2B don't you?" And I just burst out laughing. Most genuine laugh I have had in a long while and that is why it also gets my vote for best moment.
Shining Darkness I started laughing so hard cuz he said it out of nowhere and it was soo true i couldn't have said it better xD
Yeah I was reading it out loud for my friend (my voice is very flat and emotionless when I don't put any effort in) and when I read that line 100% strait face no laughing we both just cracked up for like a solid 10 minutes

Actually it's left ambiguous because it could have multiple meanings. The word "fuck" is unlikely however when you look at the Japanese version of the game. It's highly implied the word is kill but again, the developers left it blank because 9S has a lot of different feelings for 2B.

So as you can read and remember 21O was also cold and calm but in the same time extremely emotional...
First she was really cold to 9S and calm thinking she care only about the job done. But no, she loved 9S not the way like a lover but rather like a family...(Mother, Sister.) This is why she was always so mean to 9S. But if you actually overthink it you can remember she told 9S to be careful and that she told 9S he's not a combat model so try avoid fight etc...21O did really care about 9S secretly, this is why she wanted to transfer to a combat model in the first place.. So she can be with 9S and provide support on battlefield.
This is why their story is so fucking heartbreaking...(Atleast for me T.T) 21O just wanted a family with 9S... She did show her secret emotions before the finale battle because she knew it might be the last time with 9S..:( to answer the question. The real and the only one 21O was in the bunker contacting with 9S from the bunker. But after, 21O was also sent to the finale battle on earth, but because of the logic virus she never arrived with the flight unit from the bunker to earth.., the main thing why a document said her status was MIA. (Missing in Action)...Her personality did not changed by early logic virus but because of deep emotions.. and even if she transfer to Combat model -> (B) personality stays-> (21).. Letters are for models function, numbers are their personality type.

I must've missed this part or just hacked everything without killing because I have no memory or this conversation. Ah well that just means I'll have to play this wonderful game again.

no one was infected or was in the proccess, she was treating him like a kid because she wanted a family, as seen from her last words ,"a family to be with" "i just wanted a family" "i wanted to be with 9S", and from her sidequests about family research
